The game plan is to overwhelm your opponent with a neverending stream of Wurmcoil Engines while cripling them with Smallpox. I play alot of mana for that reason cuz I dont wanna manascreew myself.
Unburial rites and mages means i never really run out of gas in the late game.
I like Wurmcoil the most of the fatties cuz he cant be raced and only dissipate and oblivion ring will answer him. I play 4 oblivion after board for that reason cuz then I will most likely have more than my opponent. Sun Titan is probably a little underpowered without Illusions and Lilliana but he helps get back the mages for more Wurmcoil action.
I began with a more draw-go depedent style but it seems that mana leak is not so good right now, cuz its to slow against aggro and bad in the mirror. The mirror seems to revolve around who wins the oblivion ring war and who packs the most graveyard hate.
So far the deck has been very good against aggro and creature decks where a turn 3 day of judgement or turn 5 wurmcoil usually means game. Of course sometimes red is just to fast when you are on the draw but it seems like all decks has that problem. I also have good succes against UW Blade decks, cuz I have alot of answers for Swords and I have a better late game. The mirror is always tricky and kind of draw dependent.
The deck is weak against Surgical Extraction but I really havent encountered that card yet.
I dont use Liliana and Snapcaster Mage cuz they dont really fit into the wurmcoil plan. Yes I like Wurmcoil Engine alot
I also really dont think that any of the 7 cc fatties are worth it. I think you might aswell play Massacra Wurm instad of Elesh norn, cuz the extra turn really means alot against aggro, and you really cant hope to get her in the graveyard fast enough when you only play one.
Sphere of the Suns are not that great, i prefer the draw go style with 26 lands.. But if you play Sphere of the Suns, you can play 24 lands instead of 26.
they did ban preordain and ponder in Modern, but did not serum visions.... hmm... combo decks will just use serum visions.. and sleight of hand (which is less powerful compared to preordain, serum visions and ponder)
Hello, I encountered this during a standard 16k tournament a few days ago, and I don't feel like the ruling on it was correct. I still won the match, but I feel like the ruling was incorrect so now I am just terribly curious.
It's turn 6 or 7, I cast Sun Titan from hand. It resolves and the trigger goes on the stack. I choose Phantasmal Image, in my graveyard. In response, my opponent casts Go For The Throat on my Sun Titan. What happens from here?
It depends when the opponent casts his gftt. If before the trigger ability resolves or after.
If he killed your Sun Titan before the trigger ability resolves, you will choose a creature to copy in the battlefield, since Sun Titan is dead. and If he let the trigger ability resolves, you can copy Sun Titan.
In FNM's , i dont have a lost against valakut, splinter twin, RDW, Eldrazi, Vamps and UB yet. All of my lost were against Caw blade. I usually sided in Shrine and Leonin Relic Warder. But Shrine of Loyal Legions is quite slow. What else do you side in against them? Any better plans?
RDW and Tempered Steel best matchup is against UB. I think , i should play a deck which can win against Caw blade more, since Caw blade is starting to get popular again.
What do we sideboard in against them? Act of Aggression?
It seems , its not enough in my playtests. I'm having a hard time against obstinate baloth, and i cant go out with a lot of creatures since they probably sided in Pyroclasm.

they are strong against mirror match, titans vs titans.
currently im using:
Zendikar has 3 (Chandra, Nissa, Sorin)
Scars of Mirrodin has 3 (Elspeth, Venser and koth)
better against red deck wins, it blocks and kills gobllin guide.
sylvan ranger will also rotate soon..
