If you're trying to simulsend and he has more refs than you it should be his choice.
You just have to pay your dues in a system like this. If you want it faster you can ask if he would send as soon as you give him a tracking #.
If this is a sale post then I'd expect the cash first before sending regardless of refs.
Other than that, if you don't feel comfortable don't trade.
Data for your information if the above question was unclear. I have more refs. He believes they are not as recent as his and is manipulating who sends first. Others on here have gotten burned.
To be fair, the full story of it is:
>We agreed to trade at the same time (him with the dumb excuse)
>My end gets to him with no problem
>He doesn't send with tracking and all of a sudden it never shows up. For weeks on weeks on weeks.
>I try contacting him the first time.
>He responds and asks me to keep waiting. I wait longer (for over a month now), then I tell him again that it never showed up. Then he doesn't respond to any of my messages for another set of weeks. I was patient too; I tried to only send maybe one reminder message every 5-7 days.
>Then I'm forced to bring in the mods, and all of a sudden he starts responding again. Apparently the cards got lost in the mail. We agree to compensation, but he doesn't want to pay the full amount. I just settle for about maybe less than 2/3 the value of the cards I lost, because at this point I just want it to be over with.
In then end, even though I "got" some money out of it, I'm down cards and value. And hell, I even lost a bit of money too, since some of the cards I was supposed to get, I was forced to go out of my way and purchase (I had to, unless I didn't want to finish my deck(s) before the events).
Tl;dr: So, the fact that he responded probably means that it's unlikely he's a ripper. And he payed so there's that too. He had no refs on this site. Sure, it could've been garbage luck for the both of us. Thing is though, I always find it kind of convenient that the low-ref/no-ref trades always cause BS problems like this. I've traded with higher ref'd traders before with much bigger and more valuable piles on both sides before without any problems. I'm always the one sending first on these trades as well. Not a single problem.
I think the only redeeming argument about the "no recent trades," is if the user hasn't traded with anyone recently AND hasn't been online in years AND the trade offer seems a little too good. Now that could be bait; I've gotten ripped like that as well.
A comment like that feels like someone trying to manipulate who sends first, which raises a red flag for me. I've traded online for over a decade (though only here the last year or so), and while the other user has some right to be concerned if you have no recent feedback, that does not seem to be the case here. Reputations are built over time, and discounting that point out of hand is not something I would personally agree to.
^This. I worked for my refs. The last time I traded with someone without any refs using this garbage-ass excuse, I got burned.
EE does a ton of work against Jund IMO - Goyfs, Bobs, Scoozes are all hit and it can kill Lilli (albeit slowly) if you need it to..Obviously if you can get a 2-for-1 its great - but Jund can overload your PtE - so Im hapopy if its just a 5th PtE for goyfs or late game scooze..
Just be careful of Kolaghan's Command if you decide to take a turn to play it without having the mana to sac it.
Actually they don't. Tron can remove Nahiri with Ugin on turn 4 on the play or just keep an Oblivion Stone on the board at the ready. Infect can just blow you out with man-lands and keep you looking for answers. Zoo and Burn don't have to use all their tools to keep Nahiri down. The only people the Nahiri bait fools are bad players in my experience. If you're the beatdown, you should know that you're the beatdown and act appropriately.
I don't disagree with your point; when you're the aggressor, you need to figure out which option will win the game (dealing with Nahiri or just smashing face -- sometimes, smashing face and ignoring her is fine).
I will say though, I don't actually mind if they don't "fall for the bait," because this lets me keep Nahiri around longer; she's still a rummager that can dig towards the blowout cards I need (Anger, Snapcaster, Path, etc.). Every turn she lives is an extra card deeper into my deck (and a potential blowout win out of nowhere). It's kind of a win-win either way. The only exception is if my life total hits 0.
Another cool thing is that you can grab Jace with Nahiri's ultimate, flip him right away, and then the PW won't be returned to your hand since it is technically a different 'object' than the creature side.
I think that is more because the card exiles itself then comes back, regardless of whether or not it transformed.
It's not amazing, but Geist can work. He tends to get a bad wrap for being a bad defender, which is true; however, a blocker tends to be underrated in these match-ups (especially a hexproof one). Case in point, I NEVER had trouble vs. Infect back when I played Jeskai midrange; it felt like a Bye, really. V-Clique, Resto, etc. all serve to gum up the board. They have NO way to remove creatures outside of niche cards like Twisted Image, and they run counters that don't affect creatures. They have to waste pump spells if they ever want to get around blockers. And getting a Geist on-board allows you to switch gears and start racing if the defend-the-queen plan fails.
Creatures aren't as effective against Burn.
I wouldn't go out of my way to board in these in against the two match-ups, but if you can find space then by all means stick him in. And once you're able to find a turn to switch gears and attack with Geist, he'll finish the match real quick.
Hi there,
I'm going back to playing magic after some time, and since I always had a thing for control, I'm focusing on learn this deck (since esper apparently isn't much of a thing anymore =//).
Well, I'm still getting to know matchups, but I'd like to know what's you guys thoughts on when to bring crumble to dust.. do you only bring it agains tron or just use it to deal with manlands too? (raging ravine, I'm looking at you) - or am I just having trouble dealing with manlands because I'm playing it wrong?
So do any of you keep Remand or Mana Leak in your main deck against Naya Zoo? I used to board out all copies of both, but I'm beginning to think Remand is actually alright.
Sometimes I keep Remand/Leak in vs. Naya Zoo. Definitely helps more when you're on the play as opposed to the draw, but yeah, I'm of the opinion that Leak/Remand is actually not that bad against Naya Zoo.
When siding out vs. Zoo, I'll first remove the fat and heavy-cmc cards. Then remove chaff like Dispel and VClique (maybe). And of course I'll shave a couple copies of Remand/Leak. But depending on what I'm taking out, I might not cut all the copies.
are you playing the Ingram style list? That list is very all-in on Nahiri. You have to be very careful about fighting the hate and sometimes they just have it, no shame. Personally I play closer to what Jim Davis played because it's normal for me to just kill you with Lightning helix's and Snapcasters.
I don't get how you lost to Ulamog after Crumble? Didn't you take out all his tron chances? How did you let him get back to ten mana? No clock what so ever? No snapcasters for crumble? I've never lost to tron if I crumble before they play a big card.
I'm the same way; I like having those extra Lightning Helixes.
Outside of dedicated hate cards, I find it hard to NOT win with Nahiri ultimate. But sometimes after stabilization, occasionally I'll have a big stockpile of burn spells that can just start going to face.
I am currently working on building this deck. I'm trying to make the 4-color build (Sam Black's GP build/conventional build).
I have all of the main-deck spells outside of 4 Mishra's Bauble's. How necessary is this card?
Also, what's the consensus on the mana-base? How would one go about constructing it? Can I cut any corners? Say for example Sam Black's build from GP Charlotte:
1 Arid Mesa
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Verdant Catacomb
4 Windswept Heath
1 Wooded Foothills
Is there a reason why I can't cut the 2 Verdants and Arid Mesas and max out Wooded Foothills? That kind of thing.
Also, what's the key play style differences between the Grixis build and the regular build?
Thanks team. I guess I'll hold off on Cryptic then. Or at least, wait for a different deal to come along. Think what I was also worried about is the curvature of the card; most textless Cryptic Commands I've seen are pretty curled. Not sure why and not sure if it's just the small sample size I've seen. Hell, at one of the World Championships (Shahar Shenhar vs. Ben Stark), Ben was asked to swap out his playset of Cryptics (anecdotal, I know). Do you guys have any input/experience on that? I owned a textless Cryptic a long time ago and it showed the same signs as well. I wouldn't really care, but it's a pretty easy card to get a judge called on you for...
Have any of you played vs UB fairies and if you did how do you go about this matchup.
So fast between Stabilosblau and myself we are 0:4 vs that deck however the fairies player was insanely lucky vs Stabiloblau today playing 3 Ancestral Visions in the first 4 turns.
Do you think this is a bad matchup or was is just inexpirience / bad luck that it went so poorly?
cheers,
Crypto
For what it's worth, SCG had a premium video series, where Tom Ross and Todd Anderson played that very match-up (Faeries vs. Jeskai Harbinger). The faeries deck seems to have much more game vs. Jeskai; I don't think I recall Todd winning any games at all. My memory is hazy though.
I will be discussing sideboard cards in-depth if it pleases the court. I'm likely running our baby at GP Guangzhou next month and want to give you guys the inside of where I'm at with deck choices at the moment and the sideboard has the most room for innovation and improvement at the moment.
I'm voting in favor of this. No match-up analysis is complete without talking about sideboards.
On a sidenote, I tried Spreading Seas vs. Tron. Definitely like the card there. Think the key selling point of the card is that it complements the other Tron hate (Stony Silence, Crumble, Negate, etc.), meanwhile having applications in other match-ups. Need to try it out vs. Jund. I can't seeing it being too amazing there, but probably solid.
Loved playing this card back in standard. Nice to see applications in Modern. I think the last time I played Seas in Modern is Esper Zur.

Esper Control lives on with Guillame Wafo-Tapa:

^A bunch of 5-0 finishes with Esper Control fairly recently.

I like the concept. It's new and fresh. In theme with Innistrad as well. But I don't think I like the cards; not that crazy about zombies in general.
Well...anyway, you know which date comic con is happening/when it's going on-sale?
