Resarox posted a message on [VOW][CUBE] Scattered ThoughtsAfter thinking about it for a while, I think I will cut Fact or Fiction for this. Hiding information and essentially making a 2 card pile for yourself seems better to me than digging one deeper. I think however it all depends on this crucial question on whether 4 is much worse than 5.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

NotScottMescudi posted a message on [MID][CUBE] Bloodthirsty AdversaryEh idk, I think this is pretty mediocre. Goblin Dark Dwellers was pretty bad for us, and going over our cube we only have like 20 good hits with this card. A 2/2 for 2 with haste isn't a bad floor, but I think the inconstant ceiling is just to weak to justify a card like this at 360. I specifically like Dire Fleet Daredevil a lot more since its usually a lot cheaper.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

wtwlf123 posted a message on [540][Powered] wtwlf123's CubePretty much, ya. Powerful cards that are format defining and those that drafters expect to be a part of their powered cube experience are important ones to keep around.Posted in: Cube Lists -

wtwlf123 posted a message on [540][Powered] wtwlf123's CubeWell, the only staples that I would never remove would be the cards that are simply too good to ever be obsoleted. Nothing is really sacred, but there are plenty of cards that I just can't see Wizards ever printing better versions of. Those cards are the closest things to staples I can imagine never removing. Power, Sol Ring, Library of Alexandria, OG Duals, Mana Drain, Tinker, Balance, Armageddon, Mind Twist, Demonic Tutor, Channel ...it's hard to imagine those kinds of cards ever being rendered obsolete.Posted in: Cube Lists -

wanted to get your opinion if there are any staples from the cube list that you will never remove? If so what’s the rationale?
Thanks! -

wtwlf123 posted a message on [540][Powered] wtwlf123's CubeI don't have a current archetype guide, and the archetypes aren't broken out by guild. Sorry!Posted in: Cube Lists
You can build generic aggro (or tempo), midrange, or control decks in any color/combination of colors. Additionally, you can build any of the commonly played archetypes in their various colors. Tokens/Anthems, Stax/Loam, the artifact.dec, Reanimator, Sneak & Show, Blink/ETB Abuse, Wildfire.dec, draw-7 shenanigans, super-ramp, etc, etc. There's a lot to do, a lot to explore, and plenty of ways to win. The instant "oops, I win" combos are gone (since drafting opportunities are at a premium and we want to make the most of the games we get to play) but nothing is banned in terms of raw power. Have fun exploring all the list has to offer, and feel free to stop by with any questions you have along the way!
Cheers, and happy cubing. -

Thundermare3 posted a message on [MH2][CUBE] DamnWhile an obvious cube staple until the end of time, a cool thing is since the casting cost is 2, Spellseeker and effects like that can tutor a wrath now.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

appleberryblast posted a message on [STX] [CUBE] Rip ApartYeah, exactly this. It can be noticeable, so I chose to limit my gold cards to two (out of five) “removal” spells per color pair. Just personal preference, and I totally get the desire to have efficient answers too.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
I think Rip Apart will probably replace Helix for me. I like Boros Charm too much to cut it. Going 4 to face, giving things indestructible, and even the double strike mode have all been extremely valuable and I just dig modal spells. I am a huge fan of Boros Charmageddon. -

MadRobot posted a message on [STX] [CUBE] Baleful MasteryThis is far-and-away the best Vraska's Contempt variant, and being able to cleanly remove Wurmcoil Engine, Ancient Stone Idol, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, or Blightsteel Colossus for 1B gives it an edge over all the Doom Blade and Hero's Downfall variants. Of course, if you're not playing in an environment where you're facing down monsters T2, the card loses a lot of its appeal. And not being able to get around protections (*cough* Emrakul *cough* ) keeps it from being the stone-cold nuts. That all said, I think I'd be willing to replace any of the aforementioned removal options with this card. Having an Arcane Denial mode on Feed the Serpent is just absurd.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

this thread has got me thinking about gold removal. In my head, I could never really consider cutting assassin‘s trophy, because it’s like the best removal smell ever printed, and that’s the point of my cube. But only having three gold cards per guild, I definitely want to value those slots highly for splashiness and fun.
I think people over-fantasize what their gold section should be. Gold cards are just an extension of what XY color combination can do, I think people put too much weight in them being reasons to go into XY color combination / signposts when that responsibility can fall to any card(s). I've never heard of drafters say "gee, I wish these gold cards were more flashy and fun!" I see that as an issue that cube designers make up in their head that no players actually would ever think about. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

It seems okay, but not sure how okay. Only being able to transform as a sorcery means if you play it early as the wall you're telegraphing the discard, and you're still replacing that with another card. You're also dedicating 2 turns to that effect, and can't do it at the end of your opponents turn. If you do it all in one turn it's a 4 drop.
I'll keep an eye on it.

3/2 for 2 in white. With upside on etb and attacks. With potential for good evasion.

Divest vs Despise really depends on the count of artifacts vs planeswalkers, but even unpowered you probably have more non-creature artifacts than planeswalkers.
Frost Titan > Ethereal Forager > Agent of Treachery
Skinrender > Boneshreder
