Dark Ritual would be badass, but far too good. Consider what it would do to the Thopter Depths deck. *cringe*
Rite of Flame was perfect imho. Perhaps a variation of that may turn up. Although it's true that Black doesn't get mana excel any more, but instead, life-for-card advantage in terms of confident, tutor, etc is the way it gets ahead in-game.
I really doubt they would follow the exact order they invented the planes in. Anything is possible with any of the old planes. What made coming back to mirrodin unique was the relatively short period of time on the plane between 5th Dawn, and scars. As for Kamigawa and such, they could always jump really far into the future, or the past, which would effectively allow them to do whatever they want.
For example, they could turn Ravnica from a city-gold plane into a ruined-mono colored plane with event X, Y and Z that happened 200 years after Dissenssion, and the block takes place 100 years after that, in the aftermath.
In terms of Kamigawa, i'd rather not visit that plane again. I think the whole block was flawed from the onset.
I understand that he no longer has a spark, or at least, Glacien's spark. It is possible that he gets a new one, or something akin to a spark develops.
I don't really want Karn to be a walker, as the neo-walker limitations would be a sad state to see Karn in. Yet Bolas is a walker, and he's the big baddie, so i guess it's possible. In that same vein, i also don't want Karn to be a walker because then his presence in the storyline will be too...dominating. How can you have Karn, up and about, and not have him play a hugely vital and central role in the storyline? Him as a walker would definately overshadow the new guys. But again, they did it with Bolas, who has a more extensive history than Karn, and plot impact.
At the same time, there's Bolas and Eldrazi, both are big threats. It seems like the plot needs a powerful good guy, and Karn would suit that role.
To be clear though, this art that i'm talking about is definitely not the same art from the NPH trailer. Completely different composition, regardless of the background.
Consider the following blow-up/critique of the Mirrodin Pure packaging.
The art seems too awesome to not be used. Ditto the Darksteel Angel. As many have also speculated, New Phyrexia doesn't mean Karn doesn't come back. Or that the Mirrans will be wiped out. Personally, i think Karn will absorb some large amount of mana, such as the core, or the moons, and use that to either power the legacy weapon, or use Vesner's walking machine to move the bulk of NPH to some far distant corner of the multiverse. Or turn the whole plane to silver and leave it forever. Anything goes at this point.
I seriously think, from a flavor standpoint, something like contested warzone is more likely.
