Hm... Torn. I kind of want this to be real because I think the creature side has an interesting design. However the Planeswalker side is fairly boring and doesn't really solve any of Red's issues. I mean, it's a repeatable damage source but red has those already. Would have been nice if there was something that could pass for an attempt to shore up it's weaknesses with card advantage.

Source? I haven't seen anything about this yet.

I'd only caution to keep in mind that Soltari Champion doesn't pump your team if you return him off Alesha, as he isn't being declared as an attacker for the ability to trigger.

I'm still a big fan of Blade Splicer in a deck such as this, but the rest of the deck looks pretty solid.

Is there a list of playable leaders in some colour combinations? I cant find one for grixis combinations (yeah, going for storm deck tho not sure if it works without manamorphose)
Are cards like cunning wish, burning wish, death wish legal?

    The wishes are indeed legal.

If you are looking for a grixis general the only one that fits the bill is Tetsuo Umezawa from Legends.

Kormus Bell seems really solid in here, it surprises me that it wasn't already.

I Wish there was more protection in black, as I feel if you weren't arch enemy most of the game we played Saturday that you would have run away with it. Macar cost a ridiculous amount by the end of the game, and makes me wonder if another way of tutoring up boots is necessary.

This looks similar to my own list. I just want to note that if you can make infinite mana with construct and a rock, you can make staff of nin a win condition. Assuming it has been out a turn, animate, ping, untap, repeat.

Show you which? Sydri or Lazav?

I haven't typed up a list yet, but that's something I might have to do soon. I know many people here were having issues making her.

So I figure maybe I'll get the opinions of some of you folk.

I just finished a pretty entertaining Sydri pile and have been having a blast with it, but already am getting grumbles from some of the players about power level. The deck is a durdle engine, it does nothing but tap and untap things to recycle things and maybe do things, but mostly accomplishes a lot of nothing until I combo off for the win some number of turns later... Usually involving 4 card combos with not much in the way of tutoring.... So, as this seems to be unsettling a few of the players in my group I want to build a budget pile.

The last budget pile I had built was Lazav, and it was one of the most rock solid and entertaining decks I owned. Control, pure and simple... Lots of cheap removal, mass discard, and reanimation to seal the deal. I had a notion to rebuild the deck with new cards (It was dismantled prior to M14 and theros)... but now I can't decide if I want to build some kind of Mono B Devotion/Reanimator or dust Lazav off...

Any of you fine folk have an opinion?

    (also: Screw Valentine's Day.)

I'm in the same camp as DTrain. I have tried a disruptive build that leans heavily on cards like Winter Orb, Tangle Wire and Armageddon. The strategy basically revolved around resolving rocks early, blowing up the lands, keeping them off with cards like Storm Cauldron, Overburden and Mana Vortex, then beating face with animated mana rocks.

I think there is still room for that strategy to work in the right meta. That said, I'm not sure it is strong enough to outclass a combo strategy.

The strategy I took was more of a toolbox, if you pardon the pun.

I built the deck with the theme of a few artificers in a workshop taking over the world like mad scientists... So my primary focus was durdling... my win conditions tend to rate as follows:

    a) beating with animated rocks/spines/utility artifacts and letting them untap with unwinding clock
    b) thopter foundry/sword of the meek stall out
    c) blightsteel colossus
    d) completing the rube goldberg machine of durdlery and assembling 3-4 card infinite combos involving thopter/sword or salvaging and blasting station.
    e) Tezz 2.0 Ult with Mycosynth lattice
    f) Grind the game to a halt with caltrops/portcullis and deck my opponents! I have no fast way of doing this as i don't run temple bell but I can codex shred them one at a time and recycle my library with Conjurer's Bauble and Elixir of Immortality. I have never had to use this win con...

    ...

    z) re-add mindslaver to the deck... But honestly, screw that card.

    Plague Spitter

Playable turn 2-3 to set up an early Rakdos, sweeps tokens and low-toughness utility dorks off the field and ensures your Rakdos is online without using combat to enable him, allowing you to swing with him if you have a haste enabler. If you have a furnace effect out, he is effectively a delayed 4 damage spell to all creatures/players for 2B.

I'm the exact opposite. I love the look, but hate cold weather. I'd much rather be in 120 degree weather than 20 degree weather.

It was -19 here last night. I also hate shoveling.

If it was just picturesque landscapes and log cabins with no responsibilities where I could just drink irish hot chocolate and sit by a fireplace or play magic/etc... Cool, I'm down with that.

Mix in shoveling, driving in ****ty conditions with people who think that their jeep or pick-up truck is immune to ice, and having to get up even earlier in the morning to make it to work on time... I'll pass on winter.

I was up at 4 am to be ready for work on NYE and fell asleep by 11:30 after marathoning 3DS while my wife played 360. Completely sober. Still woke up in an awkward position with neck cramps and a headache. I am a party animal.

Jivan turns violent when people say that Chaos Warp is a well-designed red card. He's like the Bruce Banner of Magic.

Well, in fairness, if red's flavor is Chaos then it shouldn't target. It should be a random target permanent gets shuffled in and then the top card flipped and cast regardless of if it's permanent or not.

Would make it worse, but would be more flavorful.

However, I have had my bacon saved by many a chaos warp and am happy with it the way it is.

You guys should go to the Beta site and leave feedback - not "I like it or don't like it" stuff, but stuff like "this doesn't work" and "this needs to be fixed." You can, of course, leave opinions but at this point we want to know about functionality most of all.

We have Hearthstone keys to randomly give away to people who provide feedback. So, you should look at your primers, deck lists, and all the other parts of the site and see what you see.

If we go live and THEN we find bugs this will be a pain for you but an absolute headache for me and you don't want that do you?

I would love to help but my corporate firewall doesn't like letting me get to websites related to gaming or gaming news. Something about employees at a Fortune 100 company needing to actually be working and not posting on a web forum about fantasy cardboard crack and other things that are way more entertaining than work. Please, these people don't need their medications in a timely fashion.

I'll try and spend some time there to provide feedback when I get home, just for you Gals.
