I have been wanting to build a deck around Wild Beastmaster for a while now and today at work I was getting more and more ideas about the deck so I decided to brew up a list. When I got home I decided to check the Standard deck creation forum in hopes to see some sweet ideas for future decks and I ran into this thread. I think the deck has a lot of potential and can be a scary threat if unanswered. Anyways when I was building the deck I decided that I wanted to be able to grind people out if it came down to it so my list is more midrange oriented than most of the decks in this thread. In an earlier post someone said something about having a transformational sideboard which I thought it was a good idea and I went with it. against certain matchups the deck transforms into a more streamlined midrange deck with creatures less susceptible to removal. Also some cards to help against the faster aggro decks, and 2 cards against flyers. Here is the list that I brewed up, feel free to comment on the deck with tips or ideas.
Well I built a Horde of Notions deck that abuses it as a 2nd combo. 3 different combos to prevent any loss of 1 combo. Also, I have 4 pieces that are used to try to protect Omniscience and Conflux is usually the 1st thing I tutor for after it resolves.
I have been trying to get into EDH and I saw your Horde of notions deck earlier this week and built it. Every single game that I played Omniscence was insane. in 1 game i was able to cast time stretch 5 times in the same turn (e. wit, karmic guide, animate dead, praetor's counsel, all while sacrificing those guys to the altar) and while also playing decree of pain to clear everyones board and replay all of my creatures with haste. I love this card.
Doesn't Humility turn off all of our elves too? Or is that just a "Who cares, we win by swarming" thing?
It still seems a narrow sideboard card for such a diverse format though.
Yes it shuts off all of our elves abilities(since most of them are 1/1's anyways) but for example reanimator will only play 1-2 creatures in a game. where we can play a ton of them and outrace them. Same goes for Sneak Show.
Meekstone doesn't do anything to Sneak Show. they either sneak an emrakul/griselbrand and swing and do it again next turn. or they show and tell emrakul/griselbrand and kill you.
Faerie Macabre Only stops the reanimation part of reanimator. Games 2 and 3 they usually side in 4 show and tells and go that way.
Mindbreak trap is kind of weak since they usually play chants/silence. Thorn is fine usually.
In GP atl this weekend I was playing against Nic Fit in round 3 and game 1 neither him or I draw anything all game. I had 4 visionaries and 3 wirewoods which helped me draw a bunch of cards each turn. i had about 12 cards left in deck and no glimpse of natures to be found nor emrakul. he eventually found a pernicious deed and cleared my board. i bounced a few elves and played them next turn to kill him. so wirewood and Visionaries really do help a lot and are a small combo on their own.
the cards you should probably run 4 of in the deck are
Nettle Sentinel
Heritage Druid
Wirewood Symbiote
Elvish Visionary
Llanowar Elves (+some number of Fyndhorn Elves)
As far as the high end cards go Gaea's Cradle is a very good one
Hello everyone, I play Combo Elves in Legacy and lately I have been interested a lot in NO RUG, I was wondering if there is any good lists out there, I don't really like Reid Duke's list. Thanks
Well would be a fine strategy if they weren't putting Griselbrand into play, drawing 14 playin petals rituals and then tendrils of agony just to draw 14 more.
Krosan grips are for problematic artifacts just as little more removal. Jitte/Trinisphere/chalice etc
2 Cavern of Souls
12 Forest
2 Gavony Township
4 Sunpetal Grove
4 Temple Garden
Creatures -
4 Arbor Elf
3 Avacyn's Pilgrim
2 Champion of Lambholt
4 Strangleroot Geist
4 Thragtusk
4 Wandering Wolf
4 Wild Beastmaster
4 Wolfir Silverheart
4 Rancor
3 Revenge of the Hunted
3 Predator Ooze
2 Silklash Spider
4 Loxodon Smiter
2 Rhox Faithmender
4 Centaur Healer
