I don't really see how landwalking is any worse than straight unblockable, but they don't really print much of the latter anymore either.

I only hope this is a real card. As mentioned on a Facebook group: The second time his name is mentioned in the effect, it is only mentioned as Hixus, instead of Hixus, Prison Warden. Let's just hope this is an error and not a fake card.

They often do that for legendary creatures.

Am i the only one who realises cards like this are booster fillers? so people buy boosters, get a useless card, and have to buy another?

Based on current trends, i'm assuming that the mythics will be decent, the rest will be filler.

You have explained intro pack rares, but everyone already knows that and begrudgingly accepts it.

So is there 1 to 0 remands per box?

In boxes for normal sets you can usually expect around 2 of each uncommon, or at least one, but with only having 24 boosters I could see why only getting one Remand, or any of uncommon for that matter, is possible as there are less chances to get it.

Still, it's better just take the survey so we won't get those packs for the newer sets.

I don't mind the packs as long as in the future they are not so easily tampered with. I think it was a fair experiment to try out, but I certainly don't expect them to do it for every new set soon, but if they improve on it then I wouldn't mind.

They now have a survey for what we think about MM 2015 up at the Wizards article site. Head over there to take part of it.

    Only about the packaging...

That irked me greatly how the survey was only about the packaging.

So when are singles hitting bottom? Is it best to buy nex week or wait some more?

Now I don't know all of the economics of this set, but I imagine that cards will continue to go down for a couple weeks while boxes are still being opened and acquired, plus we don't know much MM2 is really out there, so it may impact more or less than what some thought.

One Clique, cranial plating and all is dust are foil:eek:

That is pretty good. That helps me feel better about the half box I am opening, the other full box I am storing for a while.

My LGS is having $50 drafts for MM2, but you will be drafting 2 MM2 packs and 1 MM1 pack. The prize per person is 1 MM2 pack and 2 Dragons packs, not sure how they will be divided at the end. While MM1 sounds great to draft I don't think $50 is all that great a deal for it.

Why wait at all? Establish it now and players can start playing. In 6-8 years the only thing people will have to start will be money-lands. Time to re-buy Swiftspears and other way out of print uncommons.

Yes, by unachievable I do mean cost of entry. And dropping one format from your play rotation is not an answer. Losing every match-up until you save what pennies you have is not an answer. Show me the answers to the Tier1 and 2 deck please.

Have you all not thought that maybe the power level has peaked? Where can it go from here? What can be done to balance but a Reset button?

The reason we have to wait is that currently the 2015 card frame format is Standard right now, and after Theros rotates you will be playing the 2015 frame format that you are selling.

I imagine it will happen in about 9 years or so. Modern was made 8 years after that frame was made so I am pretty sure we won't be seeing it any time soon. Heck if they did it in another 3, or even 6, years they would just be recreating Extended.

I am sure it will happen eventually, but I can't imagine it will be any time soon.

I would love it to be some sort of Time Spiral esque set, but that makes new players confused. I do bet we get some sort of Lotus and/or Mox in the set along with any other famous words in the Magic world. Never know we might get a new and improved Storm Crow.

For me I would like Oversold Cemetery to be reprinted, how this wasn't in Innistrad I don't know. I would also like an Eternal Dragon reprint with the Scourge art.

After that I just hope it is a great send off to the core sets.

The only losers are the players, who neither get their desired reprints, nor the (defect) product for a reasonable price. All wizards has to do is run the mythic lottery and all shops have to do is either sell the product for an inflated price or crack packs and sell the cards individually.

Players always lose when it comes to sealed product, that's the nature of magic, but it's just too blatantly obvious here. Modern masters feels like all those dlcs you have to buy for your video-game so it's "complete" in the end. But after all, complaining is useless, too many will still buy this regardless. And hey, wizards profits soar sky high every year, so they are obviously doing the right thing for the game.

I'm from the eu and I probably don’t understand the mentality going around this forum. Here we’re use to the fact that we have to pay to play. Every hobby, sport, etc. costs money. I don’t really understand why the average player wants to get their money back (or make profit!) from buying a game? If you’re a business selling mtg products its logical, but if I buy a monopoly game do I expect to resale it for profit?? What I’m trying to say is that to me it seems perfectly clear that you will always “lose” / pay for a game, hobby, sport, traveling, etc. some cost more some cost less. Why would mtg be any different from any other game, hobby in this regard? If you want a fun casual deck you can get one for a couple of $ if you want a top end deck you’re in the thousands, if the top end decks/cards were available to everybody the game would break down. Where would all the magic be when everyone around your kitchen table would be playing tier 1 decks without putting any serious effort into it??

The whole discussion reminds me of the average poker player mentality. They all think they will make money by playing the game not realizing that maybe only the top 2-5% of the players are able to show consistent profits in the long run and the rest are losing their money. Many of them realize this only after losing enough money and either quit or except their playing the game for fun not for profit.

The difference between Magic and Monopoly is that nobody buys Monopoly boards to resell, besides collectors that buy special editions of it. Your average person is probably never going to sell their copy of the game, unless it is at a yard sale 35 years later. Magic on the other hand almost every player has it ingrained in their mind that each individual piece of the game has a cost and no one wants to buy a $10 pack for $3 worth of cards they could have bought else where. Now sure most times you will never make your money back on a pack, even when you are paying $4 for a booster, but the difference with the $4 booster is that it is much easier to make up most of the $4 you paid rather than $10 and it is much easier to justify the $4 impulse buy than the $10 one.

People want to feel that when they buy something they get their moneys worth. When you buy Monopoly you are going to get your moneys worth because you are going to keep and play the game for more than a decade. That $25 board game can give you 20+ years of enjoyment, not to mention it has all the pieces to play the game fully, but a $10 pack of MM2 doesn't get you that and you risk much more. Yes, you can play with all of those cards for just as long, but that doesn't mean that Wolfbriar Elemental you opened, when you already have plenty of them what with it being reprinted now for the 3rd time in a year, won't give you the same enjoyment as watching someone roll double sixes, roll on your property with a hotel, and then roll and land on another property you own. That less than $1 Wolfbriar won't make you feel good when you paid $10 for it. Now don't get me wrong, when I open a Precursor Golem from MM2 I am going to feel my wallet hurt, but I am still going to enjoy the pack as I thoroughly enjoy the card (so good in Daretti EDH), but not everyone is going to feel that way. What a majority of people want to feel is a good purchase at the end of getting wrung out at the register, going home, and cracking open a pack.

The problem is that many are having problem justifying that great feeling with the cost of the set. If it had still been $7 a pack the amount of complaining would be less than half, but the set's cost went up and the monetary value didn't go up all that much, if at all. There is much less here to be happy about.

As for the rest, well, *shrug* its WotC's loss, not mine.

This set will most certainly still be a big hit for WotC, it's only our loss.

Exactly. The set was received poorly, but that certainly won't stop this set from being a success monetarily.

I think all you haters will be disappointed at how well this will still sell.

I am not so sure. The pre-order price on Starcitygames went from $300 to $249 overnight for a booster box. That is a dip of $50 simply because of the full spoiler. Many assume this is because of many canceled pre-orders.
It will probably sell ok but to say it will sell "well" I am not sure is the right wording.
And the haters were silenced with MM1 too, because it was a smashing success.

MM2 has a higher EV with more playable rares/mythics. At this point I think people are just complaining to complain (but will still buy it).

No MM1 easily had more playable rares, yes all of them were not Modern playable but they are playable in other formats. Even if MM2 has more playable rares the main gripe of the reprints and playables argument is that there is a vast difference between the two where MM2 has less playable/value uncommons and commons. All the value is at the high end, which makes getting your money back rather difficult and means packs are less exciting to open overall.
