This would be the best reason to do it. The Reserved List says they can't reprint them, but if they were to ban them all in Legacy all of those who have been hoarding will take a huge hit and then the irony will be rather sweet. They don't want them reprinted because they will go down in price, but banning because they caused the problem and the prices going down anyways would be rather nice karma.
Just sold my Imperial Recruiter JP in hopes of a reprint...even if not, meh, good $$. Glad I picked up my R Tundra at $110 a few months ago--probably gonna win on that one...idk aside from some of the Portal cards, Port, Fetches...nothing too crazy coming to mind. At least the rest of my revised duals should look good in the near future. Fun stuff! Better than "I wonder how many Goyfs will be opened at my draft tonight" over and over again (yes I realize we got a lot of good price drops with MM1-2, Cryptic, Bob, BBlossom, Clique, especially),
The craziest reprint I can think of is Karakas. Hoping for Damnation in here as well.
That being said, with the coming of Eternal Masters, you can expect the format to gain in popularity similar to how Modern did after Modern Masters 1 (causing the Zendikar fetches to skyrocket in price), so if you are at all interested in breaking into the format, now is the time to pick up those dual lands.
Or it could be people want to play a part of the game without wanting to spend a house payment to do it, but sure it must be because of their feelings of entitlement.
As if there aren't cards this expensive in modern even after reprints, but I don't hear modern players taking issue with cost of Goyfs or Liliana of the Veil

I don't know where you are going, but almost everyone complains about Modern prices. Difference is with Modern is that not every deck absolutely needs $100+ cards like Legacy, even mono colored decks need Gaea's Cradle or some other expensive land to even get off the ground. Modern you don't necessarily need those $100 lands to play competitively in the format.
I love how people keep acting like the dual lands are hidden somewhere and no one has access to them. Not a single revised dual land is sold out on any major site, getting dual lands is much easier than getting 93/94 legal cards which actually are sold out on many needed staples. Do any of those players cry that the cards arent available and should be reprinted? No, they don't. Vintage, Cube and Commander players will want duals whether they get reprinted or not. Duals are available, maybe more expensive than anyone wants but players are hardly the hoarders who are making that an issue. Reserve list cards make up about 7 % of played legacy cards, most of that being the duals.

I agree there needs to be a healthy legacy format and a new dual or reprint may be needed to have that, but to make it seem like a Tundra at 180 keeps you out of Legacy is just whining. Come on people!

This "no reserved list legacy" rumour is getting out of control, too. Why would WotC hurt existing Legacy and Modern players so badly by making a large amount of card value in each format worthless? What kind of message would it send to players if they gave up on modern after five years? Why would you expect this new format to last longer?
Why would they have to give up Modern? They could still have both formats and support them.

Without the Reserved List we know that every card's supply can be increased, but right now we have 200+ cards that are dwindling slowly and won't be seeing anymore.
Good news to hear of this, the only immediate criticisms are Force of Will shouldn't be mythic, and that I am quite dubious how good this will be if it is supposed to be similar like Modern Masters. Them saying this has a limited focus and me remembering how MM2's focus on it was too much I hope they don't go too far with it. Hopefully there is enough value spread through out the rarities, this is something MM2 had trouble with as well. At $10 this could easily be another MM2 debacle, so all I can do is wait to see what is in it.
I can't believe they did another Duel Deck that has every card in it from the block prior to the plane we are returning to. The zombie deck could easily have had any of the other zombie lords and used cards from Onslaught block for some more zombie tribal. They could have at least gotten a little more creative. An Adaptive Automaton wouldn't have been too much to ask in one of these.
I must admit that the cards with Delirium are pretty good, although maybe only for limited although that white spirit is real nice to lock down big dude and Tooth Collector has some creepy art, which is nice.
When printing cards, there needs to be a reason it is included in a product. They could easily toss something like FOW in anything blue, but would it make sense? Should FOW been in Jace V. Chandra? It could have, but it makes no sense there. It would take away from the rest of the set. It would be FOW V. Who freaking cares? The problem with reprints is finding a good place to print them that doesn't overshadow the rest of the product and unless it is a reprint themed product not actually making it too heavily reprint oriented.
You do have a point, and it is a point to remember, but they did miss some rather prime reprint possibilities over the last year or so that made sense. Like Damnation in FTV: Annihilation, MM2, and Commander 2014 (they even mentioned that if something obvious isn't in something expect it soon, and it never showed up a year later), missing Serum Visions in MM2 and Elspeth vs. Kiora, Gitaxian Probe in MM2, Inquisition of Kozilek in Oath, Cabal Coffers in Commander 2014 and mostly just a bunch of stuff that would have served better in MM2 in both limited and as a reprint than most of what we got.
We have gotten quite a few great places for some good stuff and yet they miss them, which is rather befuddling.

Let's abolish it, but only make the cards previously on the list available in super-duper-ultimate-premium-rare-limited-release product that's priced accordingly? That is unfortunately true. Even the cards not on the Reserved list that are played in Legacy/Vintage way back in the day they have the hardest troubles with reprinting, they just have some problem with reprinting cards.
Everyone wants to play eternal formats, these special sets won't completely get you there. You will have to either trade up or spend money. It takes time and patience if you don't have the disposable income.... I don't understand why everyone complains about the supplemental sets not being enough to bridge the gap, it will never be enough.... Build one std deck and trade the rest away for Eternal Staples..... That's what I did and over years of playing magic I got what i needed.

The cards will still have value, but for some reason those that play the format treat it like it is a country club, which is just strange. Also Standard decks right now are like cheap Legacy decks, so skip the middle man and just go straight to Legacy.
You are right though, any set won't perfectly get you into any format, but right now they are offering zero sets for Legacy/Vintage and those two formats have been dying slowly for a long time because of it, at the very least this will allow those sets to thrive a bit with new life being injected into it.
Something tells me that if Eternal/Exceptional Masters isn't real and when we all find out it isn't the prices on a lot of Legacy/Vintage cards are going to shoot up, just like how Inquisition of Kozilek and fetches have done recently as soon as we found out they weren't getting reprinted.

I am not comparing the items directly, because yes that would be stupid, I am comparing how similar they can be in price and how they are known for their frequent and radical price changes, which has a rather nice parallel, but for some reason you are stuck on the objects more than the price similarities.
No one would be happy to find out that a card they bought/ traded for at X dollars lost 50% of value of it's value in a few weeks

No one is ever truly happy about finding out what they bought is suddenly for sale for 25% off the next week, but that's luck in a nutshell for you. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get unlucky. I don't complain to Best Buy when the T.V. I bought for $500 is $350 the next week, sometimes it is just the way it is and you have to deal with it, like an adult would. Would it sting to know all you had to do is wait a week and get something for less? Yeah, but that's hindsight and you'll just have to accept the fact, not want others to pay just as much as you did because you feel wallet bad about paying more for something.

I wouldn't preorder anything until the whole set is revealed.
It wouldn't surprise me if some "Modern" stuff is exluded just so they have some stuff for Modern Masters.
Putting Snow on them would be enough to differentiate them from Alpha duals.
