So I'm seeing several boxes preordring for msrp on eBay. I jumped on a couple boxes of MM2 @ msrp only to see them drop below $200 within a month. Do you guys think EM will take the same rough trajectory or is it just impossible to tell at this point. If I can get a box below msrp I'm totally fine with waiting but I really don't fee like paying OVER msrp.

Depends on what's in it. Modern Masters 2 looked good until we saw all the rest of the rares and everything below it. Best wait until you know at least half the set so you don't end up wasting money.

This is the most the Magic community has gotten him to say about the Reserved List, ever. Honestly this is the closest thing to victory lots of people will get when it comes to the Reserved List. Watch though the only thing they take off the Reserved List is something like Thunder Spirit.

I've been waiting for a reprint on Oversold Cemetery forever, just so I can use less beat up versions of it. Oh and Gratuitous Violence, plus snow basics because why not?

I want to check back in on the Phyrexians, but I do not want to see them dispatched by Jace and Friends.

At this point I'm not sure how they would go about doing that without some ability to send an entire plane of soldiers to go against them, that or the Gatewatch would need to be comprised of 20+ members. The Mirrans are what(?) 10% of their original uncorrupted population? Going to need more than them to do that stuff, unless Karn does some extreme plot devicing.

The next set won't have Eldrazi, and EMA will sell like hot cakes regardless fo fetches. Also, there's no correlation between the two.

Can't say for certain it will sell like hot cakes. I mean it will certainly sell, but until we see what is inside I am much more inclined to believe this is just going to be another MM2 with more focus on drafting than helping any format(s).

At this point enemy fetches are a toss up, they should have already been in Modern Masters, twice, and in one or two other products, so at this point I have the smallest of hopes that they will be reprtinted.
I suspect some idiot at WotC actually thought that the Zendikar Expeditions would actually make a difference, despite their ridiculous rarity and the sheer number of them making each individual one rarer.

They had to have, only reason to think that. Not sure why they decide to keep missing prime opportunities to print things, especially in these limited release sets. And yet they will reprint things like Wolfbriar Elemental repeatedly, for no real reason.

I just don't understand where all the money goes. The game is as big as it's ever been, yet they keep doing all kinds of greedy things like this as if they're about to go bankrupt. We see expedition lotteries, outrageous rarity bumps, $10 boosters, horrible MTGO management (my deck has bern broken by a bug for ten weeks), and now they rip money from the hands of their most prominent ambassadors of the game. Is it really just greed, or is there some money sink somewhere that we don't know about? They're just seem so clumsy these days.

Honestly I don't think we can knock them for the rarity bump or expedition lotteries. They have always done that in the past.
I'm not sure what you mean by 10$ boosters. Boosters are still #4.00 and have been for quite some time.

I'll give you horrible MTGO management. They need to redesign it from the ground up.

I believe the poster you responded to meant the $10 boosters being Modern Masters and soon Eternal Masters. Those prices are incredibly steep, even for sought after reprints.

Actually it's not. If they didn't set the MSRP at $10, the packs would become super inflated due to supply and demand.
The first Modern Masters had a MSRPV at below $10. That coupled with low supply quickly drove up the price to unattainable levels.

Then print it to where it isn't a limited product and that won't happen. Even with the $10 price of MM2 the packs often went for $11 or $12. There is no reason for the packs to be $10 other than making people think their $140 Goyfs won't take a large hit so they won't lose money. Even the $7 packs of MM1 wasn't great, but it at least felt a little more appropriate.

Consist of cards that we are willing and able to reprint

Well then just do it and stop telling us you can and want to do it.

I was thinking this exact same thing. That and I wondered what they meant by "cards that we are willing" when it comes to reprint. Are there cards that they are not willing to reprint?

How exactly does this reference Houston Texas in any way? The one comic image on the thread doesn't seem to have anything that would even come close to it.
    Um, frame 1.

So a bunch of unconscious people means it references the flooding? Even by PC standards that's a stretch.

I thought it might be good enough for Standard, but more like a one or two of, definitely not the namesake of a deck. It is no wonder a card that you can get back 3-5 cards with on average is playable, at least a little.

I'm definitely glad I don't take bets on cards though, 'cause I definitely didn't see this being THAT good. Playable, but not namesake-able.

  • posted a message on So when was the last good set?
I would say that SoI is a good set, at least compared to the block that came before it and especially better than BFZ. Most sets are usually fine, but really it just comes down to personal preference, although with some sets it is really easy to know when it is worse than others.

My question is why they are solely green. Besides the occasional one adding red we haven't seen one that hasn't been green in a long time. They could easily be red or black, possibly blue if it was solely a water based one, although that sounds more like a Time Spiral thing.
