Vs humans, just crunch in with removal tarmo and ds, and plow through them our creatures, who are way better. As for go wide we have our sb to help with that. DS is one of those decks that can beat anything imo, just comes done to skill of the pilot and some of the card choices in the main and sb. I wanted to see how hymn would work since all the midrange decks would try to play BBE to out value people. DS on the other had out values people by playing super efficient cards similar to legacy delver. Playing a hymn card in modern in a ds deck feel backbreaking for ops imo. I tested sultai ds first as my hymn deck because i wanted access to traverse and tarmo, and thoughtscour. But when testing, i found toughtscour was pure air and did nothing for the deck. So i decided to put in opts. But even they can be replaced imo i think hard to tell. I like the idea of the manamorphose to enable instants in the gy. How ever ds can sometime durdle on 1 land sometimes so thats why i tend to avoid manamophse too much.

The 1 land hands are what scare me the most about the build I posted. Have you tried Rise // Fall as your Hymn replacement? I have run it in GDS in the past and found it OK.

I cna def see whisper of emrakul work in manamorphose jund lists , just straight up cuting the IoK for whisper as a futur idea.

I talked to you a little on Reddit about this deck. Seeing it inspired me to try just that. This is the list I am thinking of testing :

The deck is still in the idea phase. Hopping to try it out soon.

After playing around with it Bedlam Reveler is no good. It's way too slow for us.

Mind posting the list you tested with?

@xenr3: I should have been more clear. It is more aggressive then the young pyro list. The most aggressive Grix lists that I have seen are the ones run 4x angler with 4x bauble to help fuel the t2 angler.

While Pyromancer is an amazing card, he makes stubborn denial worse. I saw this deck pop up and I think it may be the way to go : https://mtgdecks.net/Modern/gung-5-0-decklist-by-gung-728398. It still runs 1 young pyro, but it swaps the delve package for Bedlam Reveler and is way more aggressive.

Young Pyromancer may be good idea with Jace running around although it didn't work that well for me when I tested him. I still think the best strategy against control will be as it was before Jace unban which is to kill them as quickly since long game favors them.

I think you are correct. Trying to play the CA game against U decks running JTMS is not a good idea. They WANT to play that game. That is what they do best. We need to take an aggressive approach and just kill them fast. I am looking for cards that can be in the side (maybe main) to help with that right now my self. So far, I have not come up with anything that I like. Frown

It is an interesting idea for sure. There is some synergies between all the 1/1 faeries and SOTM. Have you looked at Collective Brutality in the deck? Being able to pitch a sword that you can get back feels like it would be good with a deck like this. Also, Scion of Oona may be interesting in the deck as well. Flashes in, brings a sword back and protects your faeries.

Before the rise of Dredge and Eldrazi (and the advent of Collective Brutality), I was on 2-3x Disfigure plan, mostly because of the 1 CMC. The meta has been pretty harsh to Disfigure, and in any event Brutality takes care of the -2/-2 effect. Given how much set-up time our deck needs, I still like having a number of 1 CMC reactive spells, particularly ones that are flexible. Vapor Snag is the king of flexibility, as it (1) can bounce all of our creatures in strange situations, (2) helps in tight races to drain for one and get a potential Mutavault/Snappy blocker out of the way, (3) bounces problematic cards like 'Goyf to their hand which we can counter on the way back down, etc. It also is great against a surprising number of decks that go "all in": Infect, Death's Shadow, Suicide Bloo, Affinity (if the equip plating, use ravager, etc.).

Batterskull is great in a "fair" meta where decks like Eldrazi, Death and Taxes, Jund, Abzan, etc. are flying high. It's also great against counterspell decks if you can mistbind them (or cause them to tap their mana to counterspell mistbind or kill the champion fodder) the previous turn Sure, these decks can often kill the germ, but that's a mere speedbump until you start bashing with 5/5 lifelinking vigilant fliers. No bueno in the current meta IMO, but there are times where it shines.

Thanks for the info about your card choices. It looks like you have dropped most of you discard as well. I assume you are going with a more tempo centered build. I have been thinking of going the same route my self. I have been looking at Psionic Blast to help with closing out games and maybe 2-3 main deck remands. Have you hand a experience with those cards?

    @BioEBear,

Interesting list. What made you go with the Vapor snags? The 1 CMC? Also what meta do you run the Batterskull in over the Swords / Lily?

I would thing that more copters would be betting in a 4x miscreant plan. Gives you away to make your 1/1 faeries more of a threat.

the 4 copters feels like a bit too many, ive been running 2 and really enjoying them. ive got a 2/2 split between Smugs and Mistbind as the winners of the deck with 2 scion as well

Hmm. Had not considered dropping smugglers for Scions. Have you been running other equipment like swords as well?

Thinking about building the Copter version of the deck for my local Modern events. We usually see 15-20 people with a spread of all the tier 1 and 2 decks. Here is what I am looking at for V1 of the deck:

2-3 more counters would be nice, I just dnt know what I would cut for them.

I was also looking at a BUG build. Has anyone tried it and had any success?

I have been kicking around a Delirium build in my head for a bit.

Would prefer Baubles over Architect, I just don't have them. Would also like to find room for 2-3 Traverse, just not sure what I would cut.

I don't like that cycler at all to be honest. Thinking Mishra's Bauble should do it:

I have been testing Architects of Will in a few different Delirium shells. I am not sold on it either. I want to mill it more then draw it.

Personally, I would much rather hanve the information about their deck/hand, but yet again i'm a blue control fanatic who insists to keep 3 manaleaks and 2 remands in the deck.
but if we use the mishra's bauble and go slightly artifact heavy deck along with peligree, we can also try to put in Glissa the traitor for early defense/artifact recursion?
And I know it doesn't pass the Bolt test, but First strike and deathtouch?
And at that point maybe one can put in Lili Last hope for more creature recursion.

Just starting to dip my toe in the BUG world again after years of playing various U/R decks. I have played Grix and RUG delver a lot. Even tried German Thresh list last weekend. What I really want is a Team America deck in Modern. We just lack the tools to make it work for now.

With that said, I think the list that recently went 9-0 is a good starting place. The core of the deck is a pile of known good cards that do serious work in modern. I plan on taking that list and tweaking it for a little while my self.
