Tyler Durden, saying Ashcoat Bears is strictly better than Grizzly Bears is just plain incorrect. Maybe you won't come across a crazy Mindslaver situation over the course of a game, but the fact of the matter is, that situation is possible in a game of Magic and it exists. This throws the 100% better in every single situation out of the window, and it completely invalidates the argument that Ashcoat is strictly better than Grizzly.
Mindslaver makes sure that "strictly better" doesn't exist in Magic. It still boggles my mind how people haven't grasped onto that concept yet.
BTW, Murganda Petroglyphs makes it so Grizzly Bears is better than Ashcoat Bears. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

LMAO... one of my buddies told me a story about a guy who was caught using reflective sleeves in a somewhat big tourney... after the DCI got through with him, he was banned for 9 years!
The DCI seems to hand out really strict punishments like this.

EDIT: Dr. Tom, I think you told us about the same kid who had 4 Retainer, Blademaster, Hamato, and Nagao in his deck... without him trying to cover it up. :tongue2:
IMO, that's a really mean comment to say to a person. Not everyone will be swimming in cash. I don't have any Jittes myself, nor do many people-- do you think I shouldn't be discussing here?
Yes, I know, Yukora is pretty essential for a finisher. Razor-Jaw Oni is somewhat mediocre, but it can work as a finisher if on a budget.
Jitte is great too, but people are hating it out everywhere where KBC or Standard is being played. Pithing Needle is great, or there is Manriki-Gusari for those who can't shell out $100 to get a playset, which are hard to come by.
My updated decklist from sometime:
1 Shizo, Death's Storehouse
1 Tomb of Urami
4 Nezumi Graverobber
4 Raving Oni-Slave
4 Hand of Cruelty
4 Takenuma Bleeder
4 Ogre Marauder
3 Yukora, the Prisoner
4 O-Naginata
4 Manriki-Gusari
4 Sickening Shoal
3 Horobi's Whisper
4 Hero's Demise
4 Crainial Extraction
3 Sink into Takenuma
4 Night of Soul's Betrayal
Manriki-Gusari: IMO, superior to Shuko. While Shuko provides no tempo loss, Gusari will add some points to toughness, and will rape WW by wiping out their Jittes, which seem to give the deck their muscle. Nezumi Graverobber can also go along his evil business without fear of getting shanked by the Jitte.
Aside from obviously killing the aforementioned piece of threatening equipment, you can kill Konda's Banner, Oathkeeper, Tatsumasa, O-Naginata, and other Gusaris. It is suspectible to getting nuked by the Needle, but most people won't go for this first unless they want to waste one of their precious Needles.

I do something like this a lot when I play MUC. I run Disrupting Shoal, and I broke the card. Badly. In my area, D-Shoals were about $1.50, but then I curved my deck out so it could almost imitate FoW. After about 2 weeks playing it, winning 2 consecutive FNMs utilizing Shoal to catch people off guard, I raised the price of the Shoal up to $8.00 in my card store!
Everybody seemed to become intimidated when I actually TAPPED OUT to play something and I had 3+ cards in hand. They seemed to be really scared that I would Shoal their good stuff by catching them off-guard.
I'm not really sure on pithing needle... even if you do manage to get them into play naming Kami, Gifts will probably tutor up Wear Away, and you're stuck as long as they have WA.
Nine-Ringed Bo and Reito Lantern will also have the same problem as well.
Samurai... if you want to run him, you will need to run a bunch of protection spells to keep it alive... otherwise Gifts will kill it promptly with Shoal, Laughter, or Whisper.

I'm pretty sure that the mods PM the spammer to notify about the offensive post, and of course, they edit it to show everyone you spammed.
A Spam count... that seems kinda pushing it, don't you think? Public humiliation seems kind of cruel and unusual, but then again, warnings are displayed in public and PM'ed to you.
Here are some of my ideas to stop the spamming:
-Reduce the offender's post count by subtracting a certain number of posts, or shrink their post count (e.g. reduce post count by 1/4)
-Deprive them of avvy's and sigs if the spamming is out of control
-Edit their tags so it might say "SPAMMER"
These are off the top of my head, and are seemingly quite questionable.

I feel your pain, man. I myself have 56Kbps dial-up, not the most reliable thing in the world, but I have to be spendthrift.
@ Mystic: That is a brilliant idea! I think going by active lurking than by post counts would be 10,000 times better. Here, as it seems IMO, is just a big race to posting. The fact you get custom tags when you hit 1,000 just seems to make it worse. I mean, people that have post counts upwards of 1,500-2,000+ that are not mods seem to get all the attention here and that people will tend to agree with them. I know the postcount thing was to discern between who to trust and not, but now it seems the dikes have broken.
I don't have that many posts, so I'm not really that noticed to my point of view here it would seem. But I could very well be wrong.
I would like to uphold my opinion that I don't post here frequently as many people do, and that I do have a life outside of sitting at the computer typing 50 WPM.
This is what it all boils down to: SPAMMING TO INCREASE POSTCOUNT.
So, in my opinion, TURN OFF POSTCOUNT, so we can be treated fairly.
Sorry if I kinda emphasized these parts, but I think this is the main reason behind this.
Xen: I like the idea, but I think enforcing a "min-100 posts" rule might just trigger a Catch-22. Spammers could then spam unconspicuously in other threads just to acheive the amount of posts needed. They could spam in minute amounts, so it could be hard for a mod or admin to detect them clearly spamming. All in all, a good suggestion to cut back on the spam, but I think there might me the risk of more spam. To some people, getting to 100 posts doesn't take that long sometimes...
Try to have 4 Graverobber in the main if you can. It breaks the Hana Kami lock vs. Gifts, wins vs. Reanimator, and allows you to have constant source of reanimation. Flipped Graverobber can also be equipped to O-Naginata. I would replace the Death Denied for it, so you have more creatures.
-4 Laughter +4 Sickening Shoal
Since this is an aggro deck, you don't want to keep 4 open to Laughter, especially when you want to keep your creatures. Shoal is free removal, allowing you to play a creature and still have the looming threat of mowing down one of their's.
The fact that the Rumor Mill is the core of this site also means we have to always keep it active and going, or this site basically dies.
It is our duty, as common people posting here, to protect and uphold the Rumor Mill, and to weed out the people here that attempt to ruin it.

IMO, I'm HOPING it's real, because I want some genuine, authentic information about 9th.
Nezumi Graverobber and Samurai will stop the Summons from recurring again and again.
Targeted removal isn't too much of a problem; if Tribe-Elite is really bugging you, run Eradicate to mow down all their copies.
IMO, I think a deck should concentrate on killing Seshiro. It's what gives the snake decks their punch, and curiosity on all their own snakes is insane as well. Find a way to eliminate Seshiro and the snake deck loses a lot of its punch.
To sum up:
- Play Gifts if there is a lot of Snakes in your area
- Use graveyard hate to stop the insanity on Summons (and break the Kami lock vs. Gifts)
- Concentrate on killing Seshiro
If there are some other problems you're encountering vs. Snakes, I can help you out there.

It is almost next to impossible to get Jitte. And even if you find them, they go for absurdly huge amounts of dough. They cost about $18-20 in my area, and I'm not blowing that much money or trading most of my stuff to get them. However, nobody can afford the Jitte in my area or are willing to cough up the cash. (now that's pathetic)
It's also the same problem with Pithing Needle. I'm willing to bet they reach the $35 mark sometime, and since we leaked the source out pretty early, the hype drove the price up the roof.
Aside from the financial issue about Jitte, I'll run O-Naginata since:
-It fits into my curve nice and snug
-All my guys can be equipped to it
-You don't have to worry about Jitte Wars
-People will probably name Jitte with Needle than O-Naginata
I'm probably emphasising the fourth reason a lot because of the introduction of the Needle. Every deck now has a very effective weapon against Jitte INSTEAD OF ITSELF. And they can stop other important things too in Block.
I mean, let's face it. Without artifact hate, we can't deal with Needle. If we run 4 Jitte in the deck and they lay down Needle naming Jitte, that's a crushing blow. If they name Jitte and I play 4 Naginata, I laugh, play Naginata, and smash face.
I'm not trying to diss the Jitte here. Don't get wrong, the piece of equipment is an amazing tool for aggro, but it is under heavy crossfire now with people concentrating their crosshairs on the Jitte.

They don't run Orchard usually, but they might go there to have a constant white source.
Then again, we have Graverobber.
@ SRDude: Try NoSB vs. Snakes in the board. That will stop them from generating proliferating Snakes from Summons and Hatchery. Then you can just kill Seshiro and Sachi and you should win the game at your own leisure.

3 Tomb of Urami
4 Nezumi Graverobber
4 Hand of Cruelty
4 Raving Oni Slave
4 Ogre Marauder
4 Takenuma Bleeder
3 Yukora, the Prisoner
4 O-Naginata
4 Sickening Shoal
3 Horobi's Whisper
3 Sink into Takenuma
4 Pithing Needle
4 Pain's Reward
4 Night of Soul's Betrayal
3 Crainial Extraction
I seem unsure about Pain's Reward; still trying to find out some other things for it.
KPDaly: Vs. Snakes, I side in 4 NoSB and sometimes the Extractions so I can nuke the Hatcheries. That way, I won't have to worry about them churning out endless swarms of snakes.
Sink into Takenuma is a surprisingly a somewhat good card. I can curve out with turn 1 Naginata, turn 2 Oni-Slave or Hand, turn 3 Marauder or Bleeder, then usually turn 4 Sink sweeping all my swamps to really handicap the control decks.
