Took a Run with the MTGoldfish list, and went 2-1 in a small set up. Played against Grixis control, Esper control, and BG Constricter.

    @ Grixis Control 1-2
Game one: Tempoed them out, drew 3 jorneymages and kept bouncing his Scarab God, so fast win.
Games 2 and 3 where harder, think he sided out his slow things and in for more burn, the Exiling burn spell was clutch one game for him all in all a more rounded hand and more knowledge on how to side board i think this is winable.

@ BG Constricter 2-1 (newer player)
idk was a newer player and my first run in with the deck, never had a chance to counter constricter, but was able to punch thru with naban and friends. the one game i lost she kinda had a good hand.

    @ Esper Control 2-0
Game 1: good hand, he had lots of removal and opts. began to start swinging with a few creatures as he tryed to stall with a Karn construct. Flash merfolk works well against Karn constructs. Tempoed him out from there smooth game.
Game 2: game 2 was essencially me getting essesnse scattered, 2 disallows, 2 fatal pushes, till i stuck a merfolk and flashed in a Naru, proceeded to 6 damage him a turn with counter back up. he was short his second white and had a hand full of settle and gidions.

Overall, not bad potential is there. that Naru buff was actually rather handy id say she was the MVP for closing out games. had a few cute plays, and alot of misplays. I enjoy its agressive approach and how kinda meta it almost seems, damn chain wherler, but thought id share this. this is my first time in standard sense Zen/Phyrexia so i plan on keeping up on this and think that barring some good cards this deck can continue in standard easily even with kaladesh leaving.

Tribal will never be the goal of my deck, but i did find the interaction with hellbent/madness interesting with Neheb mainlky due to the mass discard of not just me but my opponents. control the control players resources in a sense. Would Olivia still be better is what im pondering now. she is more reliable and has evasion.....

Hi, i figured it would be easier to ask the general forum for some help locating or sharing some ideas on making a B/R Madness/hellbent deck. my general in mind is the newest Minotaur lord. I'm currently mulling over how useful the sub theme of Minotaur would be but mainly looking for any shells or informative lists for discarding and taking advantage of those mechanics. much love <3

Whats your opinion on Debt to the Deathless?

If my math is right it out scales Exsanguinate when used after 7 mana and then over scales it by that point.

Hmmm interesting i may have to nab up a Displacer to field test sometime and consider sorin when i have the money to afford a copy.

I see in another post ur considering re-adding massicure wurm and black suns zenith, why and what did u sub out and was it a meta move? Ive found them not used often in my meta but i do enjoy having an answer to most things especially the hexproof and indestructible things out there.

also im suprised u still run Utter end over using the one mana cheaper version introduced in return to inn.

Hi there, Im a fellow Orzhov player and pilot of Blackjacks old list on here. Been playing and adapting it sense his last post about a year plus ago but still love the deck, the Spoiling of Ayli literally made me so excited because shes everything the deck wanted in a General, Cheap, Utility Sac, has potential removal, lifegain, and very insane states for a 2cc creature. honestly all i did was swap out the general cuz i knew how little the deck can relies on Senior Espirito (got a foil spanish version) and how it can roll faces without ever casting him if ur sac outlets pour in smoothly.

That being said i can see uve changed a bit of ur list to reflect what you want to play. there are a few cards id not considered or where on the fence about like Eldrazi Displacer and Sorin, Grim Nemesis. how have those cards played out for you. i like the potential with Displacer and Sorin seems on paper a decent fit.

So ive been mulling over jumping into standard once i saw that an old favorete from standard years past has returned. Eldrazi green lives again and im finally have renewed interest in this format. That being said i find our deck list flawed and far from something smooth and effective like Dark Jeskai. I think this deck will only get beter as this set releases and the eventual cycle of the Dragons set.

As it stands i think the biggest problem this deck currently faces is Infinite Obliteration, seeing as we have a limited pool of effective threats for the control match up. How have we or how can we combat this effectivly? what colors have other effective wincons and threats to ramp towards?

Is the new temple of silence an auto include, perhaps replacing orzhov guildgate ?

Well i find with this card ill be able to replace the last Vivid land in my deck thus i should be running almost every viable BW dual land Grin plus the art is sick

Side note the new archon is ****ing amazing, idk maybe we bite the bullet and remove the Knight Captain for it. other than that i have no real idea other than replacing AoD with it

It's Beacon of Unrest that targets only your grave, isn't reusable (as much) and can get lands and enchants too. I don't see Blackjack running enough enchantments to make it viable (and all of his are recurrable with titan), and lands are better brought back and abused with Crucible of Worlds, Petrified Field and/or Sun Titan. Even Grim discovery does the job. Unless you're enchantment heavy, Beacon is a much better choice.

Now, if it targeted any graveyard, that would've been an entirely different story.

Yep the exact conclusion i came too after thinking over were id put it in my deck if i did get one. It contests with Beacon wayy too much. and even if we were more enchant heavy idk if it is strong enough to push out beacon for versatility as beacon almost always has a target.

    *sigh*

u know i was actually happy about ravnica for the potential of good cards to add to my deck.... and i must say this has been one of the most dissapointing block of magic ive seen. Litterally my guild has some of the worst cards in the block, the effects are cool and yea theres the new ghost dad but the fact the made Teysa a 7cc was kinda the last straw. I really dont expect to see any useful Orzhov cards in dragon maze. I hope im wrong but so far they have all just been outclassed or are just bad.

I must say im extreamly dissapointed in Teysa, one of my favoret characters is pretty much slotted to be an unplayable over costed card with amazing art. So far just about everything Orzhov in new Ravnica has been a dissapointment. Very little synergizes with the old Orzhov or any other BW cards that have been printed. Lifegain/drain is still gimicky and is still under supported for EDH. All the Rares/Mythics from Orzhov (aside from Ghost dad 2 and the extort black mana doubler) thus far have been pretty much utter crap.

IT just feels like Wizards/MaRo/who ever just cant make up there mind on what they want Orzhov to be, all the early Orzhov was sac and reanimate related so it had an identity, people hated the lack of choice but it did one thing well. Now all of the sudden they feel like Orzhov is all about life gain drain, and now have to take it a compleatly different route. Out of all the guilds in Ravnica Orzhov changed the most mechanically, and its suffering because of it in terms of playable cards.

My concern is that since I'm omitting some infinite combos as a win cons, I need to have a stronger "beat face" creature base (haha that rhymes), but if you think this is a good list then I don't need to find one.

Funny thing is i have this list almost to the par, and played it countless times, never have i looked for combos or won off infinate. I just do the slow grind of reanimation and etb/ltb triggers till i win. His list is alot sronger if u purposefully look for the combos but i must admit ive never looked for them. unless u count yoseh locking someone a infinate combo..... that i have done just to wrap up a game

Somewhat related, I'm seriously thinking about putting in Pull from Eternity back in. Lately, it seems that I've always got something in exile that I could really use in the yard. It's often the only thing keeping me from comboing out. It might make me a little less afraid of my own False Prophet too.

im actually going to playtest this change, i think it would be pretty tech

i tried the new ghost council today in 4 games and i won two of them. yes it only affects one opp but its a 5/5 (which is better then a 4/4 specially in commander). probably need some more testing Grin

I actually tested him out for one game as my general for fun and damn did he do work. drained about 20 life sense he came out and did about 40 damage on foot by himself. and i only casted him once at turn 5. he only died to being caught in a Austere i was casting.

I think he desurves a little bit of a look. Ima be play testing him out as the head of this deck on occasion.

Also Necromany is such a major card in this deck now and makes Titan into one of the top threats of the deck. With the new additions i honestly can say if someone Jester's Caps me it wouldn't cripple me. we have too many threats.

Another thing to note is im not too impressed with Academy Rector, dont really have too many major threats to pop out. just have cute way to get arena on the field. i wouldent be too sad to lose her right now
