I noticed a couple hours ago that all the NM Metalworker copies have mostly dried up, and was wondering if they are worth buying at LP? Think they’ll be fully bought out down the road?
Corpse Dance is being bought out pretty quickly now. I'm guessing people are doing it to abuse the Reserved List, but it's still a solid Commander card.
I would sit on that box for a couple years until the gods take off in EDH. Sealed boxes are selling on eBay for $75, so you're looking at $20 profit, but then shipping and eBay fees eat into that again. Now is probably the exact worst time to try to move JIN.
Yeah, I would hold the Journey into Nyx box, the set has some potential, but value wise now isn't the time right after rotation.
As for the fat packs, I agree, open those up, you should be in good shape from the singles, especially with such a low buy-in price.
The low prices, I could only guess that a local shop may either be going out of business and have really good deals on their product right now, or at least for the recently rotated set, may be just trying to get rid of it, not wanting to hold onto non-standard product that they may not choose to keep a stock of in the shop (I know a lot of shops that are standard only for sealed product).
Good guess, but basically a MTG judge wanted to call it quits and needed quick cash. Apparently he had a huge stockpile of sealed product, and wanted to skip the whole "shipping stuff from online sales" thing. A win for me, though!
And I'll definitely store away the Nyx box. Thanks for all the help, everyone! I opened the fat packs and ended up with about $240 worth of rares and mythics, minus the bulk. Not as high as I hoped, but profit is profit.
I'm about to purchase 10 Fat Packs of Dragons of Tarkir for about $15 a piece, and was wondering if they should be opened and the contents of the boosters be sold as singles, or selling the fat packs at a higher price than what I paid and playing it safe. Thoughts?
Yes, Shaman is there just for the 2 mana it produces rather than the extra ability. Which seems like it will be valuable with the expensive mana cost creatures to come. It is a bit out of place with See the Unwritten since the mana generated can't be used to cast See the Unwritten.
I've been wondering whether Rattleclaw Mystic will jump at some point before rotation. I really wouldn't be surprised to see a run on it at some point before the BFZ is released. I have plenty for myself, probably won't buy any, but would be happy to accept any in trade and think that the $2 evener has potential to be solid value. It doesn't seem like it can go down.
Agreed, I've had a few people tell me to stock up on Rattleclaws. I might pick up a playset or at least look for them as throwins in trades. Problem is how heavily KTK was opened and the fact it's the BaB promo so I'm not sure how much Rattleclaw can really spike to. 5? I can only see it breaking above $5 if it becomes as widely played as Caraytid was which coincidentally was also a BaB promo. Maybe it will see play in a Temur Ramp deck with Sarkhan Unbroken and new Omnath? I think Rattleclaw is low risk enough to spec on.
I think looking at Sylvan Caryatid's past can help a bit. Granted, Rattleclaw Mystic lacks hexproof, but it was also a BaB promo, and managed to hit around $10 at one point.
Definitely seems like a card worth picking up anyway, since it sees play in many red decks

Probably because of the UR Artifact deck, running a playset in the build.
