Hey guys so I have a tournament in 3 days and im pretty much playing chapins gp Portland stock list with just a few adjustments but I need help on the sideboard.
I pretty much know what almost everyone will be on
2 pod players (1 naya, 1 melira)
1 naya blitz
1 4c reanimator
1 u/w midrange
2 u/w control
1 b/g infect ( its not super fast)
1 burn
then also some brews
u/b mill with the full 8 extraction effects ( hard for me to win this one since we have so few ways to win)
couple scepter decks
If my opponent uses surgical extraction on a card in my graveyard and I respond with shadow of doubt They still get to search my hand and graveyard correct?
If the meta is unknown I prefer UWR Control. You have access to a lot of good sideboard cards in the format (Spreading Seas, Stony Silence, Rest in Peace, Combust, Wear//Tear, Sowing Salt, Counterflux, Celestial Purge, Detention Sphere etc), plus a fighting chance versus any kind of deck (permission for combo/control, cheap removal for aggro).
Ya I'm really torn between u/w tron and uwr control they both seem bad against rg tron but there may be none it's unknown minus the 4 I know coming
Hello guys im pretty sure this is where I should post this but anyways I have a local 1k modern tourney coming june 2 and other than knowing what a few friends will be playing its a completely blind meta and im just wondering what do you guys think would be the best choice to play
I really enjoy tempo and control (im pretty equal with any playstyle though)
I can make any tier1 - tier 1.5 deck
they will be on melira pod, naya blitz (standard port over with few of moderns better cards) esper teachings, and boros aggro
Right now I have both mono U and U/w tron sleeved and UWR wafo control
In the article does chapin talk about his losses and wins and what he liked/disliked and what about any changes going forward I like his list but zero paths seem odd to me
Forgive me for the really dumb question, but every list I've looked at only plays 9-10 mountains (4x vents/grounds, 1-2x mountain), and I'm confused as to how that works. Do you just scoop if you draw your 4th or 5th mountain before you get to 7 lands & scapeshift?
No not at all it just slows you down just a little, if you have 4 mountains in play but 8 lands total sac the 4 extra and 3 mountains search for 5 mountains double valakut you'll get 10 triggers
Hey Shane so I've been following this ever since you T8 and read your article out of all the different versions talked about and those you have tested what are the pros and cons of each and what's the current b/u/g/w list that your playing
I suggest the pain lands in place of the tri-lands. Also, your turn 1 play is ideally a swamp for the discard, so you may want to consider -1 forest for +1 swamp.
