I'm putting together a rather basic / budget Glissa, the Traitor deck. So far, I have a run-o-the-mill "idea," and I'd like to know what's worked for you. I'm not looking to break the bank, but I do have some store credit online, and any feedback would be helpful. FYI: I'm not really into the infect thing.
4 Glissa, the Traitor
3 Steel Hellkite
2 Sylvok Replica
2 Moriok Replica
4 Perilous Myr
4 Executioner's Capsule
3 Jinxed Idol
2 Nim Deathmantle
2 Piston Sledge
21 Lands TBD
Thanks for the suggestions so far; I like the idea for Bird of Paradise; should I remove some land for that? As for other suggestions, I don't know what to take out for replacement.

Mar 11, 2011I'm sure you have enough deck ideas, but here's a (relatively) cheap deck. I only play kitchen table/casual, but my friends hate this deck.Posted in: Casual & Multiplayer Formats
4 Guul Draz Vampire
4 Vampire Lacerator
3 Kalastria Highborn
4 Gatekeeper of Malakir
4 Vampire Nighthawk
3 Malakir Bloodwitch
1 Blade of the Blood Chief
2 Bloodchief Ascension
4 Hideous End
1 Diabolic Tutor
4 Sign in Blood
4 Feast of Blood
3 Piranha Marsh
Nothing costs more than 5 mana, it's very fast, and I find that the creature removal is fantastic. Again, just casual play.

I suppose I thought the "comes into play tapped" ability would slow the deck down, but it's slow enough already.
Creatures for Quest for Ula's Temple and to speed up mana production. Since you asked, I wonder if it would be faster just to put in one-drop islandwalk creatures or the like.
Thanks! That's a much better idea than Foresee.
Mar 6, 2011Hello everyone,Posted in: Casual & Multiplayer Formats
I'd certainly appreciate some input. I'm a strictly casual player and money is somewhat of an issue, so I can't go out and buy expensive cards; however, I'm really trying to get this Ula deck to work. Sometimes, if I have the right opening hand, I can dominate by 4th turn (especially with a Stormtide Leviathan in play), but it's rather inconsistent and slow. I've revamped the deck twice, but I'm thinking that I shouldn't rely 100% on Quest for Ula's Temple; I need another way to "cheat in" those massive creatures.
4 Augury Owl
4 Silver Myr
4 Aether Adept
4 Harbor Serpent
3 Stormtide Leviathan
2 Inkwell Leviathan
4 Turn Aside
4 Quest for Ula's Temple
3 Spreading Seas
2 Halimar Depths
I'd like to keep this creature heavy; I've always wanted to deal out a massive beatdown outside of a green deck. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm not looking to win any tournaments, but I'd like this deck to win more than once out of every ten games.
Mar 5, 2011Thanks, Viperesque...I've actually just convinced some friends of mine to try EDH! I was disappointed to discover that I traded/sold Ulasht, the Hate Seed, but I just pulled a Glissa, the Traitor that I'm planning to use for EDH and for a new B/G deck. I'm not sure I'm going to go "all out" yet and start buying cards, but I must have thousands of cards that I can put in the EDH deck to try in the meantime.Posted in: Introduce Yourself
Mar 5, 2011My opponent attacks me with a Plague Stinger. I pay to turn my Glint Hawk Idol into a 2/2 and block. At the end of the turn, when the Idol becomes just an artifact again, does it keep the -1/-1 counter or does the counter fall off?Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
Mar 5, 2011Posted in: Introduce YourselfQuote from GunnersSorceryI used to be pretty good and had some unbeatable decks back in the day, but everything's changed since then so I'm re-learning how things work.
That's the best part about MTG--finding out some neat combos!
Mar 5, 2011I've been playing magic for a while--I remember getting all of my initial cards by buying a booster pack and trading a Ghost Ship for what seemed like hundreds of green commons. My first deck was a pile of green cards, maybe around 200 or so. Anyway, that was a while ago...I went away from MTG after Fallen Empires and came back just in time for Ravnica.Posted in: Introduce Yourself
I currently have 8 functioning decks; black features dominantly in 4 of them. I've always been a fan of black and green, and it wasn't until recently that I became a huge fan of blue and of artifacts. I hate white, but I just put together a new W/U deck that I'm not unhappy with!
So I guess I'll post some of my decks from time to time and ask for opinions/suggestions. I am 100% a casual kitchen table player, and I have no problem using "old cards" if they fit in a deck.
