A Counterspell is among the cards exiled by the Pool. On his turn, my opponent plays a Llanowar Elves, exiles it to the Pool, and swaps it for an Ezuri's Brigade. I flash in an Ornithopter and swap it for the Counterspell. Do I counter the Llanowar or the Brigade?
I build a preliminary Knowledge Pool deck which sucks so far. I don't need it to win all of the time, but I want it to be fun. This is what I have so far:
Incorrect. Since he controls both pools, he puts the triggers on the stack in the order of his choosing. When he casts a spell, he picks which of the two pools he'll be snagging a spell from; when his opponent casts a spell, the opponent doesn't pick which pool's ability is put on the stack last [and thus, resolves first]; he does. So, you can keep all the good stuff to yourself, and leave your opponent choosing from cards in the pool full of crap.
Hoodoo, this is quite interesting. Thanks for the clarification; i like the card even more now!
Your hand size would be "infinity minus one," so to speak. Gnat Miser can reduce a hand size by one, but without a maximum hand size, there is no real way to reduce that hand size. If some hypothetical card said, "Your maximum hand size is 15," then the Miser would make your hand size 14. However, "no maximum hand size" does not define any number, thereby making the Miser's ability useless.
I believe it's too late. However, if the bolt targets the hawk first, then you can sac the quest and attach the equipment, preventing the bolt from hurting your creature.
The answer to this question is probably so obvious, I just don't see it.
I play Knowledge Pool. When I exile the top three cards of my library, another Knowledge Pool is there. The next time I play a spell, I exile it and choose to play the second Pool.
Now, there are two Pools in play. So, what happens when another spell gets played and I want to use the Pool's ability? I'm confused as to how two Knowledge Pools work together.
That said, what do you intend your wincon to be with monoblack?
I have no clue...I'm playing against two friends who have also never done EDH before. I am not above proxying to see how it works. I suppose my win condition is setting up the Anowon/Butcher combo to wipe board clean and roll over my opponents. I have no idea if it will work, but I'll tweak it later.
Note on tokens - Everyone has Steel Hellkite these days, and Pestilence Demon is pretty widespread in my playgroup. Elesh Norn is going to be everywhere soon me thinks. Mass token generators might be bad soon.
That's OK...I want the tokens to die. With a Butcher of Malakir in play, that's just fine.
Player A casts a spell. Which knowledge pool triggers first? Is it the caster's choice?

I ask because I'm wondering if I can cast any kind of spell without a target when Knowledge Pool is in play.

I've play-tested it, but it seems slow. I have no big threats because I anticipate my Pools to take care of that; I think that might be a bad idea.
What suggestions might you all have?

In a nutshell, I can choose from which Pool to "swap spells." I can't play two spells for the price of one.
Furthermore, both Pools exile their cards separately; they're not a collective pool of spells.
Just making sure; please forgive my slow and feeble mind.

Wildfire, thanks for that list!

As for other sac outlets...I was thinking Bloodthrone Vampire, Vampire Aristocrat, Nantuko Husk, etc.
