Damn, not being able to target himself makes me far less excited. I think I just like gideon of the trials more, and I don't really want 2 3cc gideons that do basically the same thing.
I have the same struggle right now. I really do like this Gideon, but Gideon of the Trials is slightly more interesting and flexible, even if the raw power on this one's a little higher. White three-drops, especially creatures and pseudo-creatures, are probably the most competitive spot in cube, and is also where I have some of my most beloved personal picks like Stonecloaker. Do I just want to have 10 white 'walkers in my 720? Do I want to powermax? Probably not, so Blackblade might not be able to make it in even though he seems super fun.
I love it, one of my favorite cards from the set so far. Fantastic art helps too, but the above posters have hit on the gameplay advantages pretty well.
The fact that it's a permanent, saves from exile in addition to death (a big issue we had with Undying Evil), and hits 'Walkers as well makes me curious. I don't think it'll make the cut but I'm not opposed to trying.

Gideon, Domri, Teferi, and Bolas all seem nuts and like easy includes.
Karn seems strong enoguh and lots of fun, but also may be too easy to make degenerate in a cube environment, even if you’re limited to your sideboard for cube cards.
I honestly love Jace - the triple blue is annoying, but I’ve wanted a Laboratory Maniac effect in cube FOREVER and this one seems pushed enough.
I’m at 720, so this Sorin seems pretty OK to me, but there’s two other 4-mana WB Sorin’s and I think all three are around the same power-level.
Nissa seems fine, but it’s really a matter of preference where she falls in for the 5-mana green walkers for you. I think I’d have her near the top, myself, but gonna have to talk with my playgroup about what they like best.
Chandra’s not too bad imo, the third-best iteration of the walker for cube probably. I have too many walkers in red as is, though.
It's overperformed for us, honestly - white creature 3-drops are one of the most competitive slots in my cube, and yet Thalia's never been anywhere close to the chopping block.
I'm still running Sylvan Caryatid but I'm not sure this takes the slot - I want my green two-drop dorks to be able to help me splash and reach the colors I'm still missing.
About the same level as Whisperwood Elemental, love that I get the +1/+1 counters at the end of my turn. At 720, I definitely have room for this, might even keep it alongside WE.
Guessing it’s in that filler zone comparible with lot of other 1W 2 drops , but on the upper end of that filler spectrum
This is my take as well. I love taxing effects, so it'll probably take priority in my 720 and kick out another pet card like Bounty Agent or something else that's marginal but totally fine.
I love Skysovereign, it gives reach (sometimes literally!) to green-based midrange decks, and something for the mana dorks to do when all the explosiveness in the beginning has turned into a board stall. It immediately effects the board, has great art, and is always surprising me with how versatile it is. At 720, I don't see cutting it anytime soon, and I'd probably keep it around as small as a 450-540 cube, it's just a fun and flexible way for a lot of decks to get there.
Love me some Dark Dwellers, I've been thrilled that Red has become a secondary graveyard-matters color in my cube because the support cards starting from the first Innistrad block tended to be best in red, like Faithless Looting (which I consider one of the most important red cards printed in the last decade for cube. I'd play Dark Dwellers down to 450 probably, and would feel bad cutting it in a 360 cube because it offers enough interesting play. In any red deck worth its salt, you'll have at least one "deal 3 to any target" effect in your yard by turn 5, and 5 mana to get a 4/4 menace and a bolt is a pretty satisfying baseline, and I've had much spicer plays than that.
My favorite card is Greater Gargadon. It's got so much flexibility and excitement built into it and provides for a lot of opportunities that usually require a whole series of cards to do.
