I have always used 5 colors from Odyssey and up. This is usually with 120-150 cards as well. And these decks break even with all these, "top decks," and such people like to research. I usually break even on tourny wins for 1st/2nd.
The point I'm going for here is that many decks will work if you just put some work into it. So yes, you can do 5 color, "almost," just as well as ever. (I am taking a moments here to get very mad about them taking my T2 birds and requiring me to pay rediculous amounts for all these double-lands to use with farseek for pretty much the same effect... Grr.)
Disclaimer: As for the Packmaster, again I think there is too much hype, but this time for a different reason. You need a critical mass of Elves in order to make him playable. That implies that you are playing a green, probably an elf-based, aggro deck. In Standard I simply cannot foresee a situation in which an Elf deck will surpass straight RG aggro running things like Mogg Fanatic, Tarmagoyf, Troll Ascetic, Call of the Herd etc as the aggro deck of choice in the format. The Elves would have to be unbelievably powerful in order for that to happen. You can say things like "bouncing Civic Wayfinder and Llanowar Sentinel is tech" but those cards SUCK in an aggro build. 3 mana for 2 power will just not cut the mustard.
haha, sry to tell you but on turn 3 tarm usually isint going to be 5/6, and nothing else on your list is as big as WRP.
also next turn you make DEATHTOUCH wolves that instantly kill almost every card on that(super) agro deck of yours.
also to use this card you dont have to be playing pure agro, or even pure green.
you could easily put this and any other elf(s) in blue/g or blue/g/x control and simply have him and make tokens EoT and beat with wolves.
both of these points show that he IS playably without a "critical mass of elves" and you also dont have to use him in all agro build.
as of right now, i really hate this card, but saying taht i can easily bee swayed depending on if the elf archetype explodes and it finds a spot for this thing. besides that, id really rather just have a tarmogoyf or coth every time
i think tarm would die to a 2/2 deathtouch wolf, i could be wrong tho.
but i diddint think that would be that, cuz it's not effecting the same evnt more that one, it creates a new event everytime it triggers.
oh well, i need to look up things before posting...
the way it'sworded just playing it would cause an infinate loop, and tie the game
everytime the ability kicked in, it would see that it's trying to leave play, so it would try to removeit, and so on.
I agree that Cloak just isn't going to cut the mustard unless someone makes a really efficient Phage the Untouchable Hasty reanimated whispersilk cloak Angel's grace deck.... Which is possible (cuz now that I've said it I want to try....)
Even then I'd rather just play Angel's Grace and Swing with a Yore Tiller Nephilim to get back Phage.
made that a few days ago, 4th turn win as fast as i could get it in mono green with only grace as splash, may add another color.
enemy has to go 1st too.
i would have to say loxodon warhammer, because it makes anything you put it on great. and in limited you can get alot of small creatures to throw it on and swing.

it can also let you sac a 1/1 to get akroma's momorial to swing for alot.
