im not familiar with dragonstorm, but if you did draw your dragons, wouldn't ou need a way to put them back? While brainstorm is not legal, i would suggest a see beyond.
I run 3 See Beyond in my build, and most people run some amount of it.
Which land are you more fond of between
Steam Vents
Shivan Reef
Scalding Tarn
or do you run some of each, sorry I have very little practice in enemy color fixing
Scalding Tarn is 100% necessary. Automatic 4-of. It makes Ponder so much better. That being said, I run 4 Scalding Tarn and 4 Shivan Reef. But that's due to budget concerns. If I had the money, I'd run 4 Scalding Tarn and 4 Steam Vents. You're going to take 2 from Shivan Reef anyway, to be honest, and Steam Vents can be fetched by Scalding Tarn.
You absolutely need artifact removal in this deck's sideboard. A turn 1 Pithing Needle on your Lotus Bloom will shut you down.
Meh. It depends on the build. My build doesn't even run 4 lotus bloom. By no means do I need lotus bloom to go off, it's just convenient. I find relying on lotus bloom is a bad idea, with Zoo running 4 MD Qasali Pridemage. In that matchup, the most prevalent of all, all Lotus Bloom does is scream 'Hey! Leave one mana up to disrupt me!'
Everyone is commending Sowing Salt, and I don't quite get it. In the right deck, Sowing Salt is incredible, but it's not something every red deck will want to run. If you don't run acceleration, it comes down turn 4. On the play, that's okay. On the draw, that's terrible. If you live past 12post's turn 4, you're probably going to win anyway. That being said, it's great sideboard tech for decks like AiR and Dragonstorm, because they run rituals and can pop it turns 2-3.
Personally, I run 20 lands and only 8 nonbasics. Running 12+ nonbasics really hurts you post-sideboard when you're running Blood Moon/Magus (Or the opponent is, which is a huge concern in this format). TBH, if your opponent sees nothing but nonbasics first game, they WILL bring in Blood Moon. Hence, why I run 8 nonbasics. I haven't ever had mana problems either, actually. As long as I have 1-2 red sources by turn 4, I'm good to combo off.
My sideboard runs 3 Mindbreak Trap for the mirror, 3 Stone Rain for 12post, and various cards being finetuned right now. Also, I would suggest Blood Moon over Magus of the Moon, because it's harder to remove. If Zoo wants to get rid of it, they have to sac a Qasali Pridemage, rather than just throw burn/Path at it.

Most of the mana bases will be the same, Fetch+Shocks, on top of the other slew of deck specific non-basics available. Turn 1-2 Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon can mana-screw them to give you the extra turns you need, especially against Domain Zoo, which will probably be one of the first aggro decks out of the gates. You only need to run off 1 blue when you have that SB plan. Running enough fetches can help with that!
I might have to test this.... That's a nice SB plan. Especially against Zoo and 12post.

You yourself can also branch out to playing other colors besides U/R, just bc of Fetches+Shocks. If casting Karrthus is that important, then Run 6-8 Fetches
Casting Karrthus is not important. Period. In fact, the point of having him in the deck is so that you can Dragonstorm for him for the haste. I'm not saying it's necessarily bad to run the duals to cast him for a backup plan in a ground stall, but it's definitely not something you ever want to have to do.

If you run Peer Through Depths, you wanna run Desperate Ritual. I have pulled off some actual Splice Into Arcane Shenanigans with it.
I can attest to this working rather well. I run it over Rite of Flame in my list, and almost never have trouble hitting 9 mana turn 4.
I like the look of it but if you are only gonna run 3 hellkites I would cut Preordain for See Beyond so you can shuffle a dragon back in your deck. You might also want to look into dropping Manamorphose or Sleight of Hand for Peer Through Depths to help dig for the combo pieces.
Agreed on both points, except that Preordain might not be the best card to cut for See Beyond. I would do Sleight of Hand. Then I'd cut Manamorphose for Peer through Depths. It's just such a good way to find combo pieces.
It doesn't even do that. The copy is just added to the stack, so it doesn't count as being cast.
That's what I meant. I didn't mean literally adding to the storm count, but having an active ascension functionally does the same thing as a storm count of 1 higher.
Leaving this open for now, at least until a new primer/thread is written (we can just link this older one to that). In the meantime, what is the proper title for the thread?
Putrid Leech was the biggest staple for old jund, it should make a return, it is essentially a 4/4 for 2
As was already said, it's very suicidal. In was fantastic in Old Jund. But Old Jund didn't run Dark Confidant and Shocklands. You could get yourself in some sticky situations against Zoo and various aggro decks by paying his cost.
He's right that it doesn't stop the Storms. Cost is a property of a card, thus it is copied when Storm creates the copies.
Also, I feel this statement is false. Hitting Lotus Bloom is just convenient, but not necessary. I can usually go off turn 4 without it.
Haha, mana abilities. Didn't even realize Pithing Needle had that stipulation. All the better for us.

...Why not? It's better than them having a dual. Besides, they barely even run basics.

I believe it was Cruel Control
