  • posted a message on New to contact lenses
I just got some contacts this past month. The first week (trail run) they worked fine, no dry eye, some sort of white junk kept on my eye but rubbed off after a nights sleep, no real problem(s). However after I tossed out my old pair and got my new pair in, my right eye always feels like there's something under the lid. Now it's to the point where keeping a lens in isn't beneficial at all because I keep fidgeting with it, and now I can't even see right our of it.

If that wasn't bad enough, I now have some sort of sand man liquid coming out of my eye as if it had an infection, and this morning I awoke to most of my eye sand man sewn shut. I do believe I have a problem, but exactly what the problem is I don't know. I do know, however, that it's in my right eye, this lumpy feeling is part of the problem, and that the lens I use for that eye may or may not need to be tossed out.

    ideas and help please?

  • posted a message on Would you rather..... spend 400 bucks on a gaming system (+games) or Magic?
If I had $400 that I didn't HAVE to spend on bills and junk, and I had to buy something for myself, I'd go for some Vintage good stuff. FoWs, Moxen, etc. Forget Standard. I played that for 4 years, and invested well over a grand, and I still ended up with jack in the end. Slavers that are now worth $4 a pop, Tooth and Nail + Ravagers that are practically worthless. Tons of worthless stuff now.

If not MTG, I'd go straight to self publishing my own games, promoting games I like such as Warlord.

True that. I hate that everyone just wants to play standard or other formats. Even EDH annoys me sometimes. I want to play my many old school, casual constructed decks that I've built over the years. My favorite deck when I was a kid, my monogreen squirrel deck, is so much fun to play, but no one plays casual constructed. It's sad . Game Console is a better purchase, you get more out of it. Well, at least I would get more out of it. Also, again, I recommend against the Wii. It sucks.

    Casual Constructed FTW!

  • posted a message on Card frame template for my game needed
Nothing really detailed. Just kind of fashionable and presentable for a demo, what I have now looks like a little kid did it. I'm looking for something that says "I take my game seriously".

I need a frame for 4 different types of cards:
Relics, Charms, Spells (with minor variations) and Monster.

If you're interested I'll send you the images I have so you can have a template of some sort.

  • posted a message on Card frame template for my game needed
I while back I started up my own game; now I need templates for it. Last year I was working with Firepenguinmaster on getting them done, but his school I think got in the way.
So now I ended up finding this cool website for card and board game makers that'll let you self publish your games for cheap (http://www.thegamecrafter.com/).
Obviously I'm pumped to get my game finished now so I can get some prototypes going.

If anybody wants to get my template/frames going let me know. I can't pay a lot, but you will get your name mentioned in the product, with your website, and any other reasonable tidbits you would like (such as your art in the game).

Leave me a response here, or send me a message or just email me through my profile.

    Edit:
I'm also going to make this an open call to all artist who would like to get their artwork in. There is no art style for the game as of yet (leaning away from anime thou). Again, pay is little, but you retain ownership of the image(s), I get to use the image for the game only and promoting the game only. You're name is mentioned on any card you have your artwork on as well as any packaging. Your name and website also mentioned in the product, and any other reasonable tidbits you would like.

Let me know if this is reasonable.

Ah ha! Sounds like a DNS problem to me. Try running this in the command prompt:
    ping google.com
    ping 66.249.90.104
If the first fails, but the second works, then the problem is that your computer (on that account) can't find the address of URLs. If your connection gets the DNS server automatically, you may have to reset it's settings. Run this code and retry the ping.
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
If it still doesn't work, you'll have to set the DNS server manually. I suggest using Google Public DNS (instructions included).

Finally got around to trying that stuff out; none of it worked. It's strange really, I can use internet on the computer, just not on one of the accounts. I'll probably call some people I know. Thanks for the help!

When did it stop working? Was it right after you added or changed something?

Try uninstalling Chrome. Then re-install it and choose NOT to import any settings from IE or other browsers.

Uninstalled chrome already; didn't help. The problems happened after a xbox webcam hooked up fine. Problems started after the machine was restarted. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting all kinds of things plus restarts all the time.

There's no 404 message. Skype and msn seem to work fine, it tells me when I'm messaged and such, and even tells me how many emails I have waiting, but I can't get to them.

Browser is internet explorer and google chrome.

I'm using the same computer for the internet, just under a different account (windows vista).

IE won't give me anything other then an error: can't open webpage message.

    any more information you need?

I can't seem to find any good "horror" style tattoo designs.
There's a lot of stuff about eyeballs being tattooed, but not designs.

    A little help with this?

  • posted a message on "Flashcard" program?
I think you want something like BYKI:
    www.beforeyouknowit.com

It's a flash card program for learning new languages.
I suppose you could easily make your own cards for it.

I'm having a little trouble with it. I can connect to skype and msn messenger, but I can't open a web page. Under more details I find that it's having a connection failure.
I'm not sure how to fix this. I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging new additions to the computer, uninstalling stuff, virus scans, whatever.

Not sure what else to do other then wipe it out and start over again.

    help?

I'll let you lead, so if you are adamant about no mana screw, then I'm not going to argue too strenuously against you. However, I will say that VS. system tried it and failed. The reason is that when you reduce or remove the element of luck, the element of skill becomes more and more important. On the surface that sounds good. But in practice it discourages new players from joining the game because they just can't get lucky against experienced players, and that gets frustrating when they lose all the time.

But on the other hand, a game could be designed somewhere in the middle. You can get a bad hand, but not one so bad that you just can't do anything.

We can aim for somewhere in the middle. Mana screw teaches lessons, I would just prefer it not be on key parts of the game. Items could require cash/mana/whatever.

Anyway, onto a set of rules/guidelines.

    1:
Resources are played on what you already or have previously played.

    2:
Landmarks determine what resources you have or will gain.

    3:
One player (or more) plays the Surviving Player(s) (SP), the other player plays the Zombie Horde (ZHP).

    4:
the ZHP will use cards vastly more useful/stronger then the SPs cards.
This helps to keep it fair when it's 2+ Survivors against ZHP.

    5:
SP choose at the start of the game which location they will start in.

    6:
Winning: The SP wins if all Zombies are destroyed, or they can hold a landmark for X turns without losing a survivor (Or something else).
(X to be determined by card, along with whatever other challenges are needed.)
(Landmarks are more like Quests - You need to turn them into a Helicopter landing Zone, but doing so requires tools. Whether it be more turns to build the landing zone, specific tools, or zombie blood. I think you get the idea.)

The Zombie Horde wins if all players are destroyed, or when all players are changed into Zombies or some other being.

    7:
Landmarks are placed int he middle of the play zone, SP play cards BEHIND Landmarks, ZH player tries to attack though it. If a SP attacks a Zombie, they leave the SAFETY of the Landmark. (same is true for ZH if landmarks end up helping both sides, like a ring of fire effect)

    8:
Sp and ZH cards always attack each other, Players are never attacked.

In combat, SP and ZHP try to defeat each other based on the printed stats on their respective cards (SP cards are like Avatars, they are unique, one of a kind, and when killed/turned, that player is effected).
Landmarks ONLY increase Printed BONUSES if a Zombie attack is made and only if that landmark is not destroyed. (Subject to change as needed to work with the game).

    9:
If a card contradicts the rules, then the card takes precedence.

    10:
The more players in a game, the resources for the ZHP are increased for each player by Half, so if the ZHP landmark grants +10 Attack for 1v1, then it becomes +15 for a 2v1 game.

    11:
If a ZHP runs out of cards, ZHP reshuffles deck and discard pile, and draws a new hand to replace draw for that turn. If SP cannot draw a card, then they make do without new options.

Thats basically all I got so far.
Let me know of changes to these ideas to fit your liking.
    Nothing is set in stone.

Sounds good. I'll get some of my ideas up in a few days.

One rule I really want to insist on is no mana screw; of any kind. Agree?

I PMed the guy and I am still interested in this project. I haven't heard back, though. Thing is, he's got a bunch of art and stuff already done, so maybe he's continuing it outside of this thread.

Then he probably doesn't need help with a start up guy like myself. However, if he's got a bunch of art already and stuff, where is it all?

Do you have any other way of contacting him?

I think it's a very safe assumption that this project is dead. Anybody else care to keep it alive?

I for one am still willing to work on it. Let me know if you are.
