Sep 28, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on Thought I should introduce myselfGood to have you with us on the forums! Out of curiosity; do the decks you play have drawn out subplots (strategies akin to a detective show/story)?Posted in: Jinoda1982 Blog

Sep 26, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on The Economy and the AlaraIf you're living like this; and desperately waiting for cash just to buy food and gas with, you shouldn't go to the prerelease. Just play casually with friends or somethin. For entertainment I'd watch tv or play poker with friends or somethin, spending needed cash on cards worth practically nothing isn't what'd I'd do. But as always, have fun with the choices you make in life!Posted in: Small Utopia, where things happen

Sep 9, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on bad designThe problem for me has always been I'm a budget player. So the CIPT lands are usually my answer as I can't afford something like Rav Duals or Murmuring Bosk like cards. Pain lands sure, but when you start talkin $10 cards WoTC effectively kicks budget players out of t2 (yeah, I know it's more exspensive then the other formats).Posted in: Confessions of a Rouge deck builder
So the problem I see is two fold. Unless there are no good mana fixers in the rare slots and everyone is forced to play bad lands -
Sep 9, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on Slap in the FaceA two card combo that kills a guy? Given that it's blue white, it doesn't seem to bad, but Duplicant does it allot better for less colored investment and one card less. Sure the combo works good, but too slow and fragile for serious conversation. Has anyone tried it yet? I don't think so.Posted in: iron wallaby Blog

Sep 9, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on bad designI'm gonna go with WoTC's favor here and say you're overreacting. Wait until half the spoiler is out before we determine that 3 colored spells are unplayable. I'm not disagreeing with you; just sayin that you should wait a little while. Who knows, we might get a mox effect yet, or a better birds of paradise. We can only hope; as so far this looks like a bad run at the planeshift Lair lands and the 3 cc artifacts that supported two colors in Invasion block.Posted in: Confessions of a Rouge deck builder
Sigh, I lost faith in WoTC a long time ago. -
Sep 8, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on The Torment Effect?I actually started at the end of Apocalypse, so Torment was right up my alley. Being a new player, I loved it. Black being my favorite all time color it incorporated everything into the game I thought should be there. With cards like Mutilate, Nantuko Shade and Cabal Coffers the theme was straight forward and fun: Kill everything, leave nothing behind but a rotting corpse to smash face with.Posted in: TarmoBlog
As for a different color being dominate; I wouldn't have minded then, or now. I still look forward to the day they revisit the mono colored set and give it to white or blue; I'd say green but I don't think they ever would. And might just be to narrow to work with unless it blended with the other colors like the Tainted lands (same set).
They did balance out a bit of the color pie with Judgement, giving a large percentage of the cards to green and white; and leaving very little room for black, and even less playable cards.
Overall I think it was a great idea by WoTC even though most (myself included at the time) though it wasn't. The game should keep changing yet staying familiar and the same for the players, the games sake, and to keep that mullah rollin in. -
Sep 8, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on What!?I thought about doing that once. Then I realized that all my good stuff, if I ever wanted it back, would cost me more money and lots of time. So only get rid of stuff that's either A: worth some bucks or B: you don't like playin with anyway. Which is what I gathered from your post anyways. Good luck sellin!Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone

If there were/are more Fynhorn elves printed then Llanowar, then the opposite is true and vice versa. I guess it depends on how many are available in your area? -

Jul 20, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on Wizard DeckIt's a straight up counter deck of old; counter spells, sneak in threats. In this case, you're really gonna have to sneak them in because every turn you're gonna have to counter something. Drop five or so counters and put something like Aether Vial in so you don't have to play your guys. Some Control Magic effects would be better then some counters, and drop the Avatar, the opponent will probably have cards in hand all the time; they'll hold back on their good stuff until you play a card; in which case you should be holding one of those control magic cards.Posted in: Pet Snakes Corner

Apr 13, 2008Cabalwannabe posted a message on Past FCC cardsI didn't think the entries were that bad. Granted the more serious ones you submitted are better, I think the ones in between are the better rounded ones. A good look back at your work to say the least.Posted in: PJ Blab

My Devour for Power deck is missing the legendary dragon. MISSING!
I got 3 decks at walmart - all of them appear A O.K. no miscuts or weird printings; but my Devour for Power deck itself had a crumple on the inside of the box (same box the missing card is from) which I thought was odd. One of the oversized cards I got was slightly bent from the packaging, but nothing a little finger power didn't fix into perfect condition.
I'm starting to think the packaging was severely rushed based on how many comments there are _here_ alone
Awesome job bro it looks amazing!
Oh yeah.... I never tried the older versions but your right. The point however is
is that it would be cooler with the snake thing. But the detail on the rope is just
amazing, good job either way
Thanks SO MUCH for the Scorpion Titan! It looks amazing (my only problem with it is it's modern day movie scorpion and not the old one; which had a evil snake coming out of his hand rather then a throwing dart).
@Bristol:
Your work is always amazing. You should really try and think outside of the box with your style - I bet the work would be absolutely stunning
is here http://www.youtube.com/cabalwannabe
I like making mtg videos because it gives me the freedom to show exactly what I want. Plus it gives me a chance to work on editing skills that I don't have.
If you have any input for me please let me know. I would like this "hobby" of mine to turn into something more, like getting a sponsor or starting up a fully fledged gaming channel.
If you know of any GOOD mtg channels on youtube let me know (Other then the Officially Channels and ElderDragonHighlander, and Mr.Orange, Starcitygames, etc.). Finding new people on there is pretty rough.
If you have a channel let me know! I also would like to get into collabs but finding time is a bit hard
How about a picture of that tat?
that's pretty sweet please keep it black and white it looks good like that. if you add color i would suggest just like highlighting stuff not full on color, like sin city style-ish. You have a very sad story i'm sorry to hear it! good luck in the future!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2rlDzhtbV0
check it out and maybe get your own mtg channel going? we need more of them on youtube!
Edit:
I'm also looking for people that are willing to do collabs! Whether it's video or a podcast I want to be a part of it! EDH, 5-Color, Casual, ANYTHING as long as it's NOT Type 2 (Standard) (I don't play it anymore). Just shoot me an email or contact me on Youtube as I don't check the messages here.
As luck would have it I found a couple of Pt's in the paper today that I'll be checking out!
Thanks again.
So share some of your car buying experience and idea.
I used to do a lot of mtg related stuff like go to fnm and such, but now that I have higher priorities my mtg stuff usually relates to buying and selling some stuff on ebay here and there, playing casually and going to the occasional prerelease.
I play a lot of video games like MW2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, RE5, Word at War, etc, but I don't get to be very creative with that stuff.
I enjoy creating new (collectible) card games, and the occasional board game.
I like learning new languages. I draw and sketch a lot when I'm in the mood.
I'm always trying to make sure I stay on top of things, so nothing gets me from behind like rules updates and B&R list stuff.
I have a full time job, so It's hard to balance, plus I do a lot of casual photoshop stuff too.
I guess I'm really not a nerd, but I do spend a lot of time on the internet, so a lot of people assume I am.
