Every top 8 deck uses instants and sorceries. Why don't you have a problem with instants and sorceries then? They are used in EVERY top 8 deck! And in legacy??? Don't even get me started. EVERY DECK has instants! This card type is more to your liking though, and its ok, eh?
I don't think you can make that kind of comparison. It wouldn't be so bad if Planeswalkers were a normal rarity and not some expensive crap. It's that the cards are not so available to anyone that's most peoples problem.
I refuse to pay expensive prices for singles. This GAME isn't worth that much to me.
Kill sledders and raiders ASAP, as they make your other removal spells bad and tendrils useless. Tendrils should keep you alive long enough to find and pop a crypt rats. A trick with crypt rats is go X=1 or X=2 then if he starts sacing stuff in response respond with another X=2. Sideboard out the discard for more creature kill. Nausea, Shrivel, Echoing Decay and Crypt Rats. If this type of match up is still flooring you Doom Blade can replace some of the main board removal. (I prefer grasp in darkness as it's not dead in the mirror which I always seem to be faced against)
I did notice that last night as I ended up having to Tendril my own creatures.
Those are the 2 lists I run and find work the best
I've been playing that first decklist for the last couple of days now. I played against the Mogg Goblin deck last night. What are some strategies for beating that deck? It seem to be so fast that it just over ran me and with those Sacrifice Goblin to give target creature +1, it seem to have the advantage in combat again this mono black rat deck.
I started played Magic back in high school, and I'm sure that most of us can attest, high school is where you learn about Magic, but not where you get good at Magic. For me, the moment I cast aside my casual decks, started learning about the stack, priority, threat assessment, tempo and all sorts of other Magic theory was just going to the local FNM and being thrown into the fire. At the time, I was running a R/W deck that ran Pulse of the Forge, Pulse of the Fields, and an assortment of Samurais. After getting my ass kicked a few times by cards like Jitte and Death cloud/ Kokusho I started looking up the top T2 decks, learning how to pilot them, running them at tourneys and finetuning them to the meta. That all turned me from a casual kitchen table player, with no concept of Magic theory, to someone that others ask about rules, card choices and deck construction. Also, my shop was full of aspiring judges and competent players that were friendly to me, and willing to teach me the game. The shop has since closed, but I now help fill that role at the new store where I play at. (Which is also full of really good, really friendly players)
I'm not the best at my store, but I'm a far cry from the noob that ran Craw Wurms. So, fellow Magic players, when and how did you get "good"?
You find me some free software that looks and feels like the MTGO client and I'll make the switch.
2. Yes, you can make money on MTGO.
3. Much much cheaper on just about everything except a few cards.
Magic really needs to do something to keep formats affordable. It's just pure crazy the amount of money you have to spend to have a fighting chance.
They need to start reprinting cards, screw the collectors.

This thread is pretty awesome and bookmark worthy.
Looking to get out already eh?
Fixed. Don't use 'retarded' in an inappropriate context, please.

So basically I'm about $500 from being there.
