Why do people think that the trend of a "weaker standard" will not change? The power level of standard is in constant fluctuation. If you took a few minutes to do some actual research that would be pretty obvious in the amount of blatantly weak cards in the past, then the subsequent blocks being amped up in power. (Kamigawa into Mirrodin, for example.)

EDIT: Wow, I meant that the other way around entirely. Mirrodin being lowered in power into Kamigawa (and sort of Ravnica) and then being amped up again later with Time Spiral, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, etc.

If Abzan got the returning mechanic, the mechanic is almost certainly Undying. Long game mechanic, has +1/+1 counters, works well with Fortress.

    The returning mechanic is Morph..?
My understanding is that it's been confirmed that 1/5 of the clan mechanics is a returning mechanic, in addition to Morph (which is not clan-specific).

No, that was not confirmed by anyone. I'm pretty sure maro just said that Morph might not be the only returning mechanic, which ends up meaning nothing.

Every time you blink him, you're putting everyone else back 1 turn and moving yourself ahead by 3 turns.

They won't give us Manlands because Manlands mean Zendikar because flavor.

I'd like to point out to you that Celestial Colonnade, Creeping Tar Pit, Lawaclaw Reaches, Raging Ravine and Stirring Wildwood have no flavour connections in their names to any plane.

This thread quickly devolved into self-absorbed people just typing so they can read their own messages over again and smirk at how smart they think they are. At first the arguments seemed solid (with a few exceptions) but almost nobody is budging even slightly on any point, you're just restating the same things in new and obnoxious ways. Y'all need to chill out and think more before you type.

Good luck trying to kill the T1 Sol Ring player when they follow up with crazy immediately after. T3 Tamiyo Emblem is an example of the crazy stuff I've got with it.

How is this possible, and even if it is, how is it Sol Ring's fault?

Yet another god hand situation that needs to happen in a Blue/Green deck, with at least 3 or 4 cards in the opening hand, plus 1 or 2 god topdecks. So just another really flimsy argument that has nothing to do with Sol Ring, yeah.

I just stated it as an example of the crazy stuff Sol Ring does. My opening hand was 3 land, Sol Ring, Signet, Tamiyo and Cyclonic Rift. I drew another land, Doubling Season and Plasm Capture next. It wasn't an argument perhaps in favor of banning Sol Ring. It was just giving yet another example of the stupid crap that only Ring and Mana Crypt can cause. "Just kill the Sol Ring player" is a really, really stupid argument.

Guess nobody else cares about Prophet of Kruphix though?

But Sol Ring didn't do that, Doubling Season is the card that doubled the counters on Tamiyo and you god-handed 3 of the cards you specifically needed out of 99. What you said is totally irrelevant to the power level of Sol Ring.

Everytime you pull one of these, you should tear it up and tweet the photo to Penny Arcade. These Designed By cards are so stupid. Like I even cared who designed the other thousands of Magic cards that have been printed before this one.

Yes, show the world how the Magic community is populated by overreacting babies.

The fatal flaw in everyone's arguments that Sol Ring should be banned is simple: Every scenario where you try to prove that it's broken involved a god hand, a hand that you have an incredibly low chance of getting. You can't ban a card because it has potential to win you the game if you live in magical christmas land.

My Prossh example had at least four difference plays, all of them attacking in different ways, where a T1 sol ring lead to a T4 massive advantage or an outright kill. "God hand" implies that it's a very specific hand, so what do you call it when at least 4 examples - and I could fire off even more if I tried - were "god hands"?

Your examples are implying that the other players don't know what they're going and have bad decks as well, you can't come up with examples in a vacuum, basic logic has been lost on you here.

There are some things that most card games should not take from Hearthstone, and this is one of them.

You don't really seem to understand why both Mythic rarity OR legendary type even exists.

I remember playing at the M13 prerelease and doing really well. I actually drafted a deck that should have been bad (Bant, 60 cards) and the only power plays I even had in the deck were Intrepid Hero, Switcheroo, Spelltwine and Rancor. I made it to the finals against our resident sore loser, I'll call him "J".

We played 2 games, I won both. First game I stole his large Primodial Hydra with Switcheroo, giving him a small 2/2 (forget the name), then cast Rancor on his 2/2 and killed it with Intrepid Hero (this is how I won most of my games that night, in fact). I then beat his face with the Hydra until I won. After that, J was already miffed at me, saying there's no way I should have won and that my deck was so bad it shouldn't be able to win.

I said "okay, whatever" and brushed it off. Game two went mostly better for him, but I stalled out for a while with Intrepid Hero and Rancor (making J much more angry.) He finally decided to play Thragtusk to get some value, but I Spelltwined to cast the Switcheroo I used earlier as well as a lifegain spell from his graveyard. I exchanged a 1/1 for his Thragtusk, and he scooped. He said I must have cheated because I beta him in a similar way to the first game, and that 60 card decks are terrible in limited. Everybody just kinda nodded and ignored him, J grabbed his prize packs for 2nd place and left.

But wait, there's more! He pulled similar stuff at the Modern Masters draft at my LGS, he was my first opponent, and I had just drafted an amazing Thallids deck with Verdeloth, the Ancient, Doubling Season and at least two of each of the highly playable Thallids (supported by three Echoing Courage). Needless to say, I took the games easily against his WBR deck, which had Rebels and Goblins. He was already really salty after game one, but halfway through game two, he left the table and wouldn't shake my hand. After trying to complain to people who didn't care, J dropped in the middle of round 2 and left the store, cursing and looking visibly mad.

Needless to say I refuse to play Magic with him unless I need to to win a limited event.

If you have a good deck then you have just as much chance of playing an answer as they do playing Prophet, it's really simple, people in this thread just tend to latch on to whatever card makes them mad and harp about it until they're blue in the face.

I'm truly sorry if this offends you, but if you think Prophet of Kruphix is overpowered or broken, you're probably a very bad player or a very sore loser and somebody beat you using this card once or twice.

The only time this will be "degenerate" is if the person running it is also running very degenerate cards. It's super easy to answer, just like most things, and it doesn't have immediate impact on the board. "Adding nothing to the format" isn't a reason to ban a card, the only reason a card should be banned is if it causes constantly degenerate games (this thread is full of people complaining about benign cards like Sol Ring, so don't cite this thread as an example).

if conspiracy doesn't contain anything for modern I'll be quite upset. the release date of this product would make me think that there has to be something for modern in this cause modern season begins at\or around this products release. Since it would seem Dack isn't going to be modern legal, if there are NO fetches in this then I'll just bypass this product altogether. Imo save Commander(and by extension legacy) for Nov releases and a June release for modern.

You're going to be quite upset then since supplemental products are only legacy/vintage legal.

I wouldn't be so upset if they released conspiracy NOT at the beginning of modern season. look I have no issue with any of the other formats (other than the reserve list in legacy\vintage) and Conspiracy looks really cool. I just wish they didn't release it at the very start of modern season honestly. I feel there could've been a stronger push for the growth of modern if they released a product for modern at the beginning of modern season. Seems this might distract people from trying Modern given the release date.

Typical greedy modern player wants every product to have cards for the format.

nah just venting at the timing of the release of conspiracy and the beginning of modern season. seems counter intuitive to what wizards wants with Modern to release a product that isn't going to help grow their new cornerstone format(one would think) however there are reprints in this so we shall have to wait and see.

That's a very silly thing to vent about, mostly because things that grow Modern usually hurt other formats or end up doing more bad than good. Case in point: Modern Masters. You'll have to wait for normal sets like everyone else, Modern players are not special snowflakes that deserve more than any other player.
