Wow, Thanks for the responses and suggestions guys.
Weltkrieg: I'm still not too keane on Teferi since his main abilities are basically covered by AEther Vial and Patron Wizard which are far cheaper in CMC and already key pieces. I absolutely LOVE Sower of Temptation and Thorn of Amethyst (if Amethyst works the way I think it does against the storm mechanic) though, thank you.
StealthApples: As much as I love Information Dealer he's just not that great in legacy because he suffers too much from summoning sickness and screams target when he's online - Sage of Epityr and Riptide Laboratory pretty much do the same thing anyway. Sensei's Divining Top would be better even though it's not a wizard (and is something I'm pondering over). Mystic Remora is another idea I have - it feeds my hand or blocks my opponent out of the game. Seem good? I'm currently trying out Rayne, Academy Chancellor whick although also screams target can provide a great deal of card advantage throughout the game.
It does supprisingly well against Merfolk (see the artical 4-0 vs mostly Merfolk) and Goblins as it has Burrenton Forge-Tender, Mental Misstep, Azorius Guildmage (which also shuts down merfolk) and Meddling Mage in SB - Goblin Lackey, Gempalm Incinerator and Goblin Piledriver are the only major threats and Burrenton and Misstep deal with Lackey and Incinerator quite well while Meddling Mage will be mained 2nd game for goblin matches (as with Merfolk matches).
Namida: You are totally right about Vedalken AEthermage I should probably main them over Guildmage. Temporal Adept is probably neccessary also though only problem is finding space for her - I'm currently bording in Meddling Mage which is more useful overall but is still a poor replacement for Adept.
Mirror Entity is the only real kill condition (and additional protection against global Burn like Firespout and Volcanic Fallout etc and makes merfolk matches a lot more reliable as their Lord of Atlantis acts as a double edged sword). Games without Mirror Entity would end up just going to time - and piss my opponent off far too much I feel.
Thank you all for your helpful ideas and suggestions I will be play testing the deck soon.

Jun 21, 2011Thorn of Amethyst is sneeky and would also severely mess up my storm opponents, I will have to get some to play test. Teferi would be perfect if his cmc was lower, @5 he'd likely be hitting play too late in the game to really help me all that much. Thanks Weltkrieg, great suggestions.Posted in: Developing (Legacy)
Jun 21, 2011Posted in: Developing (Legacy)Quote from AldoWhat about Voidmage Prodigy?
Hmm, I will have to do some playtesting with it but I'm not too sure about him though as I don't like the idea of sacking my wizards all that much, thank you for your input though.
Jun 21, 2011Hi all,Posted in: Developing (Legacy)
I have tried to make a functioning legacy wizards deck to play at my local store's Sunday legacy games for a while now I recently came across this artical on Alexander Lapping's wizard deck which I immidiately fell in love with - the artical is this one: http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/legacy/21495_Deck_Tech_Wizards_with_Alexander_Lapping.html
I am hoping that I can get some helpful and constructive input from you guys towards your ideas of this deck.
Legacy WizardsMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Land
4 Flooded Strand
3 Seachrome Coast
3 Riptide Laboratory
4 AEther Vial
4 Sage of Epityr
4 Burrenton Forge-Tender
4 Spellstutter Sprite
2 Vedalken AEthermage
4 Mirror Entity
4 Patron Wizard
4 Mental Misstep
3 Swords to Plowshares
4 Meddling Mage
2 Azorius Guildmage
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Presence of the Master
2 Oblivion Ring
4 Force of Will
The deck works by creating a hard lock with Patron Wizard and beating down your opponent with the Mirror Entity ability.
Sideboard is in need of making. The range of decks in the competition are basically: Mono blue Storm, Tendrils Storm, Goblins, Merfolk, Dredge, Enchantress, there are a couple of others but the majority are from the above.
Cards that I am thinking about:
Mangara of Corondor
Azami, Lady of Scrolls
Does anyone see the decklist as is being competitive?
What do you recon about Rayne, Academy Chancellor?
Jun 21, 2011Posted in: NewsQuote from Nightshade1994Splashable, but no more mono blue, or blue/white control. Or Caw-blade. :/
Haha, you're probably right, I can see blue/white control still working (it certianly took a kick) but mono blue would be difficult... yeah, Caw-blade is unlikely to comeback from the bannings... is that really such a bad thing though?
Jun 21, 2011Posted in: NewsQuote from TheDeadManXtezzeret agent is going to be the next big blue planeswalker.....jtms was holdin him down.....look for those to skyrocket..
Yeah, I'm not sure... I doubt it, Tezzeret isn't quite as versitile as JtMS inasmuch as he needs a deck built around him whereas JtMS just added security to your deck. Then again who knows.
Jun 21, 2011Posted in: NewsQuote from Nightshade1994True. But Blue is less powerful without Jace.
I can't argue with you on that mate, still though as long as blue still has counterspells and draw it'll be splashable.
Jun 21, 2011I am amused by the number of comments that say JtMS shouldn't have been banned as it wasn't all too bad and the ammount of arguements that blue is dead now *big lolz* blue is still a secure splash guys.Posted in: News
The problem with JtMS was is his fateseal and the cost of his brainstorm ability, you can argue that there are a number of answers to Jace etc but his ability to fateseal basically negates those measures, in most cases. The brainstorm ability is really strong too as it saves your bombs from discard while getting you the three cards you need most to control your opponent's answers - not a broken ability but broken for it's loyalty cost for sure. As for the arguments that it's not as bad as Stoneforge Mystic... SURE, I agree with you... BUT.. you can't hide the fact that JtMS is overpowerer by saying it's not as powerful as SFM (we're not committing Post Hoc Fallacy guys) SFM = Uber BROKEN! Body... Tutor.. Uncounterable Equipments! Both are justfied bans the way I see it.
Jun 19, 2011Dimir Labotomist is pretty sweet. Maralen, the mornsong also has rather an interesting ability if you have a secure lockdown, Cosi's Trickster with Maralen and a secure lock = GG.Posted in: Casual & Multiplayer Formats
necro -> closed.
Feb 11, 2011Hi all, My friend and I had a casual game the other day and we became very pickled by the graveyard effect of NecropedePosted in: Magic Rulings Archives
The effect reads 'When Necropede is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may put a -1/-1 counter on target creature.'
Is it therefore possible to place the -1/-1 counter from Necropede on to Beloved Chaplin
The one arguement is that the effect comes from a creature and therefore Beloved Chaplin cannot be affected.
On the other hand, the card states 'YOU may put a -1/-1 counter on target creature.' suggesting that it is the player placing the -1/-1 counter on to Beloved Chaplin which would negate the 'Protection from creatures'.
Is there anyone reading who can help us with this complication please?

Jul 6, 2012It looks pretty sweet, I'm thinking that cutting Thalia is probably a mistake though, she makes Delver players cry if you land her early. Having said that, I do think that there should be room for the 4th Strangleroot Geist, I'd cut a mana dork or two personally. In regards to the open 5 slots, I'd try either Wolfir Silverheart or Sigarda, Host of Herons.Posted in: DXI-Edge Blog
