Trophy sees enough modern and legacy play though that its worth just having if you ever plan on picking up such a deck. Hey, you can play it in lantern control lol.

Haha, yeah, I never thought of that. It actually seems like it would be quite good in the deck too due to making their opponent shuffle.

Am I crazy for thinking Deathrite Shaman might actually not be horrible for Modern?

A little bit, yes. DRS is broken in the format.

Congrats on the finish, nice job considering that you came up against some tough MUs and won. I'm curious about leaving out the 4th LotV and bring in 2 Angers in the mirror though.

I still love me Maelstrom Pulse. Am I the only one?

Discard against Living End seems subpar, but it does stop Nihil Spellbomb. Still seems weird to me.

To be fair, many games I've won against Living End involves hand disruption taking one of their Cascade spells and beating down with Goyf or fatty. Grave hate cards aren't much stronger than hand disruption and a clock with the answers they run for it.

I'd say item 5 on your list is the only really valid one.

To be fair though, you're a biased viewpoint on the subject. All 5 are proven valid criticisms of Twin.

I have a feeling that there may end up being a much larger than normal printing of Ultimate Masters. They've gone out of their way to say that there won't be another Masters set after this one for a long time, if at all (covering their asses a bit for a very large printing of the set). Also, they've brought the RRP of the packs down to $6.99 again. It suggests to me that they want the set to be affordable for players to draft. They know what happened with the first MM being $6.99, horded up and later sold for hundreds over the RRP. My conclusion (although admittedly jumping) is that they plan on mitigating this by releasing vastly more of UM than they would of normal Masters sets.

Bloodbraid Elf. At the time, it was obvious that Deathrite Shaman was the problem; BBE was merely sacrificed for DRS' sins.

Her ability seems like it'd synergize pretty well with some flash effects (say, leyline at least)

Definitely, flash and Tuvasa synergize really well. Getting to trigger Tuvasa and draw cards in opponents turns as well as your own really starts to overwhelm our opponents. I did test: Leyline of Anticipation and Vernal Equinox in my early iterations of the deck but they never made the cut in the end. I just found the other cards in the deck to be more important to include over Flash enablers.

@LEH : yes i keep it against Burn. I have understand i am wrong the first 50th times, thanks.
If you can help to me to understand why, thanks to you. If you just want to say me "it's obv you loose life" you can win some time and don't answer me. Yes i am probably wrong. Yes i know. That doesn't change the point i don't understand this point.

Yeah, sorry. Okay, lets look at basic examples.

Best case scenario: You cast TS. Opponent tapped out and reveals Boros Charm to you. You take Charm (You spend 1 card and B to gain 2 virtual life.

Slightly worse scenario: You cast TS. Opponent is tapped out and reveals Lightning Bolt. You essentially paid 1 card to gain 1 virtual life.

Most common scenario: You cast TS and opponent fires of Burn spell(s) they had in had to your face (you take damage from their spell(s) and lose 2 life from your own TS).

Even the best case scenario is bad for us, that's why we SB it out.

@FlyingDelver : Agree with all except that "Against Burn, which is aiming at your lifetotal, it makes sense that this is bad", thoughtseize not only make you lose life. If this shortcut is right that means bob is bad against humans because you lose life.
Like i said it on the FB group i think it's useless to go back on this discussion.
My reflexion in general is to check all the matchs, show the pros and cons, show situations where the card is bad or not and yes logical explications. Sure you can't prove anything, that doesn't mean bad tools give false results.
The problem with experience is all of us have experience...

Are you arguing that Thoughtseize should be kept in against Burn? If so, you are flat out wrong. With Jund regulars and Pros taken into account we're talking (at least) hundreds of thousands of games tested on this subject and the conclusion is an unanimous board it out.

I feel like the opponent tutoring up a basic land from Assassin's Trophy gives BG Rock the advantage in the BGx "mirror" as it can afford to run more basic lands than other BGx decks in Modern. I do think that we'll see an up tick in Abzan (well, BG with a splash for w) if Rock and Jund list continue to perform well as Lingering Souls is THE BGx mirror breaker - even if currently it's not strong against the field as a whole.

My list is similar, but I have a small voltron package (just four auras) and less combos. Does any of you use some auras (ancestral mask, shield of the oversoul, etc.)?

I don't but if I were going to depend on less combo win conditions I'd run, like yourself only a few. Considerations would be: Ancestral Mask, Shield of the Oversoul, Ethereal Armor, Bear Umbra and Steel of the Godhead.

Ancestral Mask is very powerful and can speed up your clock immensly.

Shield of the Oversoul makes most removal redundant and adds evasion.

Ethereal Armor, like Mask, speeds up your clock and First Strike early on can be relevant on Tuvasa too.

Umbra, like Shield offers protection from board wipes and most removal too. The untaping lands trigger can easily be abused too.

Steel of the Godhead is great if your metagame is heavy on Aggressive decks due to its lifelink and an unblockable Tuvasa can also be capable of one shotting an opponent with ease late on.

All are solid in the deck, imo.

Not Bad I think mission briefing is a bit overrated. I say its more three most decks just don't have the UU + Ux.

Agreed, the hype comparison between SCM and Briefing doesn't make sense to me. SCM is a clock/chump blocker in addition to flashing back a spell. Although Briefing flashes back a spell better than SCM does, it costs UU and doesn't provide any additional board presence. I'm personally not sold on Mission Briefing, I hope to be proven wrong but I just don't see it myself.
