i noticed for the grixis build, Kor Firewalker will wreck you hard... all ur sweepers' dmg are prevented, and the only way to get rid of if is to either get up a 5/5, jace bounce... unless you are running ratchet bombs
i sideboard black sun zeniths have jaces tumble magnets not really too worried about a kor firewalker. besides isn't koth's ultimate colorless anyways? lately i've been proliferating up koth with the throne so i ultimate him turn 2 he's out if i have 3 lands most of the time thats enough to screw most creature decks.
thanks shojeel... i'm going to try your suggestions -- i'm also going to go back to experimenting with IoK and duress. this deck really seems to be holding its own compared to the other decks everyone is playing.
I think the slots where you have preordain should be more removal or damage that can go to the dome. It is important to get an aggro player to 10 life ASAP. The reason is we can land a tezz, charge and go off or at least really swing the tables. I have also ben thinking about a transformer SB into the Forgmaster combo. I don't think that Caw blade can beat it. It gives us 6 slots to play with in the SB to play with to sure up the mirror and maybe some more aggro.
Thoughts?
I've been having issues with either drawing too much land or not enough -- I'll probably try your suggestion with the moxes. How come you're using throne of geth instead of contagion clasp? It's pretty good removal... I always seem to have an abundance of lands or not enough. Also I switched out the reverbs with spreading seas... helps out tremendously with valakut and control matches. I don't know if I want to mess with the preordains.. they are really important for getting to my board wipes if i'm playing a seriously aggro deck.
Contagion clasp seem to be working very well I played one match where i had two life... dropped a koth used his -2 mana up dropped a tezz proliferated tezz with clasp and used his -4 on one turn with 9 artifacts out cuz of battlesphere -- ooof hit him for 18
i think i might try reverb instead of the mana leaks -- i think it should give a lot more versatility while still creating havok in the control matchup.
I just tried out LostCons Tezz build and I absolutely love it... I've gone with Blinkmoth nexus as opposed to tectonic -- it seems to really ratchet up the pressure. I've also changed around the mana base a bit and switched over to a mix of bsz and pyroclasms. This deck performs admirably and it really really has lots of answers to those icky bird decks.
