Has anyone tried Engulf the Shore in the sideboard for more aggressive match ups like 5c humans, or bant spirits?
I tried it a few years back, well before the 5c humans deck popped up. It worked, but I preferred aetherize. These days engulf might be better though!

OMG, that's right! I was thinking that commandeer had the same wording as ricochet trap or swerve that changed the target of a spell to another target. Since temporal mastery and PtW don't target, they cannot be trapped/swerved.

Either way, the match was extremely hard to navigate; much harder than traditional UW control even!

I played the mirror at a team unified modern even this weekend. My team and I thought it would be best for the crazy deck to be the middle seat to face the likely tron, affinity, GDS decks. Apparently the other team had the same idea. It was absolutely mind boggling to be sitting across from the same deck. Knew it RIGHT AWAY too because game 1 I was on the draw got lucky so my opponent played an island and pass into my painless city of brass and I play an island. His turn 2 plays and island and passed. Gigadrowsed me on my upkeep, both lands! I just sit back and groan to my team mates saying "no WAY, is this the mirror???"
The guy wasn't quite sure yet but after I dropped my dictate on MY 3rd upkeep after he drowsed me again, he knew it was game on.
I ended up taking down the match in 2 games but it was a real hard battle. He brought in TitI's and landed 2 by turn 3 and both flipped by turn 5 or 6. Had me dead but I kept finding cryptics and exhaustions and eventually beat him down with snappy beats.
He was off commandeer but I was certainly playing around it and not casting time warp, sticking to the non-targeted versions! Needless to say, the match was fun to play, but VERY HARD to navigate. At one point, he was exhausted for 2 turns in a row, but made the land drop each turn so I got my third (plenty of mana open) and with his 2 mana, remanded exhaustion. I could have countered the remand, but I just let remand resolve and recast exhaustion. I won that game Wink

Also hello to Herkamurjones, I appreciate those AVs you sold me, although they're currently not being used.
WELCOME! Good to see you on here (finally Wink ) Your list is very similar to the one I run, including the 2x Search which I've found to be helpful, but still testing.
    What is your meta/sideboard like?

PS: could always put the AV's to use in the As Foretold/Living End build. Didn't you have something similar to Seba in the UR Chandra style deck?

Hey guys snap doesn't work with ancestral. The card your looking for is flip jace The -3 of jace with the as foretold let's you recast living ends and ancestral visions from the graveyard.
To be fair, just snaking for counterspells is quite a good thought. Who cares if you can't cast AV from the yard, it's the counterspells we want to be getting more value from.

    @seba
-I like your deck idea, but not sure it's in the same category as the traditional "mono u turns" deck. Have certainly seen it elsewhere preform well! As Foretold is such a cool card and has a home in the mono u living end deck, so hopefully it can get stirred up elsewhere; maybe in a version similar to yours where the main win is from an ultimated Chandra

I know the set hasn't officially released yet but just shocked that we aren't brainstorming ideas on how to fit the first modern legal brainstorm card into the deck! Now I understand if the chance to put a miracle back on top of your library at sorcery speed isn't that exciting. What if the deck played a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, some Scout's Warning's or splash G for Savage Summoning's?
All of this is likely "too cute" and probably total garbage, but lets get the namesake going and brainstorm!

Can someone help me understand the splash of black mana sources? Is it to hard cast living end?
The idea is to cast living end off the as foretold ability. Suspending LE is not even remotely a plan for this deck. The black splash would be for potential removal and casting Architects of Will.

I'm considering going to the axion modern event this weekend in the UK and running turns. I'll let you all know what the score is. I think I've got a really nice list at the moment so we'll see how it goes.
Good luck dude!! Excited to hear how it goes. May you always draw lands when needed and gas after that Wink

could be some saucy additions (or cards to try out) in Rivals Wink
an extra turn creature (probably not playable) and another howling mine style card (4cmc enchantment which is also probably not playable)
edit: those are links, not card tags.

I have been having such good results with it, I am thinking about adding 2 or 3 Quicken into my 60, and going up to 2 Days Undoing. Being able to cast it during their endstep looks very tempting. Plus the side benefit of being able to quicken Exhaustions sound too good to be true. But I have yet to test this build out, but I have heard it taunting me to try it.
I thought about the Quicken game plan a long time ago, but have never put it to paper. Another benefit to quicken is being able to cast an EOT (opponents turn) warp spell. I'm just not sure how to modify the standard 22-23 land, 11 warp, 7-10 pseudo warp, 7-8 cantrip, 7-8 mine build. Not sure this style wants snapcaster mage, but then again, it would be fun (albeit a ton of mana) to snap a quicken to cast a warp or exhaustion at their EOT..
MAYBE this goes in the As Foretold style deck because that says "once each turn" so you could cast quicken, then use as foretold to cast your "instant" sorcery card with CMC equal to the counters Cool

    To the point of:

You know Elixir is shuffled back to your library, right?
I'm playing all the Cantrips and testing instead of 4 Opt a 2/2 Split with Hieroglyphic Illumination. During Lategame CA might be better then CQ
Hieroglyphic Illumination is pretty similar to Opt in that you can cycle for U to draw a card. Yes, opt does give you the scry ability, but that is only relevant *some amount of time* (I've scryed top/bottom approximately 50% each). Quicken is the same thing as Hieroglyphic etc. but gives you the ability to cast your next sorcery as an instant, which is arguably pretty valuable to this deck. This deck might also be somewhat more of a card draw style deck with counter backup?

Edit: quicken into ideas unbound during their EOT is UUU draw 4 cards, at the beginning of the NEXT end step (on your turn because you've passed this beginning of EOT) discard 3 cards. If you have already dropped a dictate or mine, you will have plenty of cards to pitch at EOT. Just a major way to draw/cycle through your deck quickly.

Why an As Foretold list? The whole idea there is to cheat spells out, not make them cost less. Also according to the rules of the card, cost reduction doesnt affect the overall CMC of the card:

    • 4/18/2017: A card's converted mana cost is determined solely by the mana symbols printed in its upper right corner. The converted mana cost is the total amount of mana in that cost, regardless of color. For example, a card with mana cost 1UU has converted mana cost 3. Ignore any alternative costs, additional costs, cost increases, or cost reductions that could apply to it. A card with no mana cost has a converted mana cost of 0.

Just did a search for "spells cost less" and found a card that was only mentioned, by @Xenob8, just over a year ago. That card is Curious Homunculus/Voracious Reader which could help accelerate the deck. Basically a 2-mana, blue Llanowar Elf that transforms into a bolt proof, prowess Goblin Electromancer. Might be too "cute" but also might switch us into a more control style deck. More counterspells and less filtering? Figured it was at least worth mentioning again.

Edit: Another card that @Zalmon mentioned right around the time it was revealed is Primal Amulet/Primal Wellspring. Is this just not worth consideration because it costs 4 or are there other factors that I'm not seeing? Maybe it's too much of a "win more" because you're copying the spell, but that could be alright because it could clear up 2-3-4 slots instead of the 11 warp cards. Food for thought, I suppose. Actually worth the discussion instead of it just getting mentioned once and never talked about again.

The list in this post is what I played except maindeck -2 spreading seas, +1 opt, +1 search for azcanta.

Report from last night is not great:
Lost round 1 to two REALLY fast starts. Game 1 was ALL burn spells to the dome while game 2 was ALL creatures. I didn't have any gigadrowse or exhaustion to slow the threat.

Round 2 was vs mono green stompy and won 2-0. Game 1 I did get down to 1 life from an explosive start into khalni hydra and a 8/8 walking ballista. When he cast the ballista I was at 16 with snappy on board. He pinged the mage and swung with hydra putting me to 8. I proceeded to combo off bouncing the ballista which triggered him to remove all counters putting me at 1. The snappy ping cost him the game! Game 2 went much worse for the opponent.

Round 3 vs a skilled Jund opponent that knew my deck off a turn 1 IoK with only islands, 1 snappy, 2 gigadrowse and mikokoro in hand. His hand was not great and I won. Game 2'he mulled to 6 and kept a poor hand. 2 SB seas on his only red sources worked out really well for me. During game 2 he mentioned that the decks owner suggested 'removing one of the stomping ground for another verdant catacombs' thinking there were 2 grounds in the deck; there weren't. Only a blood crypt and blackcleave cliffs. When both of those are spread, hard to cast red spells 😉 Won 2-0

I haven't played against the goryo's vengeance deck before and in round 4, that's what I got to face. It is seriously fast. Lost 0-2 in about 8 minutes. Remember the card guttural response, it's a doozy.

Overall, not sure what I'd change. Didn't face the boogeyman GDS or any Tron variant so I'm not sure the evening was too conclusive. Search resolved 2 times and both times it didn't really matter cuz it was during 'turns' but I can certainly see a turn 2-4 being quite nice!

    Edit: added card tags
