    hi team.

i've been asked to take back the primer, and have agreed to do so. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Xenob8 deeply for his efforts and enthusiasm while shepherding the primer over the last few months. He's a real stand-up dude and we owe him our thanks.
(he isn't disappearing, just wanted to take back some time and that's perfectly reasonable)
on behalf of everyone here, thanks bud!
    THANKS @Xenob8 Smileup

On the April 16th episode of First Strike Podcast pro player Shaheen Soorani (who played KCI at the recent PT) stated that The Antiquities War is going to be a very solid inclusion in this deck; a 1-card combo from the sideboard that will push this over the top vs RIP & Stony Silence.

Watching the win-and-in for GP Hartford (Time Walk edition https://www.twitch.tv/videos/250633784?t=08h00m00s) makes me wonder if 1x spellbomb should just be 1x grapeshot (or Bitter Ordeal Evil )? I get that during the combo a single grapeshot doesnt do anything, but it could also end the game much earlier than trying to explain the "loop" and then playing it out to someone that's going to make you grind it out.

As for more Nature's Claim style effects, I was thinking Natural State is probably ok enough to include 1-3 of.? It hits all but the Leylines that are relevant hate to this deck. Maybe even Fragmentize?

    Thanks @ottosmagic!

I saw a few pages back that the deck doesnt really want any more 4cmc cards other than KCI but have people thought about looping in something like Goblin Boom Keg, Pierce Strider, Frogmite or even a Hedron Archive? Is it the 4-drop that we would want to look for or a 3-drop?
To that point, why not Sculpting Steel?

Anyone else try lodestone golem in the board to combat storm? I'm currently on the just go off before them plan but there are two storm players at my LGS now and looking into ways to hedge against them. ~10-15 players a night. Getting down Lodestone on turn three and then comboing on 4 seems like it would work.
Vs storm, isn't Damping Sphere just going to be the best thing we can do? It's an artifact which can be sac'd (eventually) and slows them WAY down on turn 2-? until KCI has the chance to get it's pieces together. Just a thought, at least.

I'm pretty sure I understand the "loop", just wondering if anyone has already explained it in previous pages? If not, is someone able to run through the required steps that should suffice for a demonstrated loop?

lurker for some time, first time poster to this thread. did a brief search and couldnt find an answer, so here's my question:
are 3x gemstone caverns really needed? primary reason for the question is because i currently only have 2 and dont really want to pop for a 3rd immediately. secondary reason is because its legendary, and we rarely (never?) want to see the second. i get that you powder them away from time-to-time, but thats probably less relevant than drawing the 2nd or 3rd during a match.
    thoughts?

Does anyone know where I can find Daniel Wong's UB Taking Turns list that he was playing in GP Phoenix this past weekend? Just wondering Smile

He should be posting it here and on reddit pretty soon. If you go back a few pages you can find his most recent lists.

Could you link me the reddit page? I can't seem to find it :/

    Nothing posted yet.

However our guy @seba from the discord placed 30th with a UW version of Dictate Turns. He is active on the discord.

Very cool getting shifted over to 'established'! Although, they changed it all from tiers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@purk maybe drop 1 AV? 3 should still be ok

yea doc! watched the last 2 matches live and was really sweet because his round 3 opponent was also streaming so i was able to watch both sides of the match.
you should totally come into the discord! we have peeps all over the world; lots in EU. even to read the posts and get quicker feedback on ideas. Since necro started it, there have been fewer posts here as we're heading over there more. at least join up and say "hey!"

what is the general agreement on remand right now? i remember that not long ago, it was that with all the cheap stuff going around it wasn't really relevant...

and one more question, i understand we use minamo to get an extra use of mikokoro, but what's the use of Oboro?
remand is still one of those cards that people either love or hate. Right now I'm completely off it, but very much considering putting it back in.
Oboro and minamo are actually to add U in the case of choke or boil.

If you're up for it, head on over to the discord! https://discord.gg/K6WnFzZ

I'm new to discord, and wondering what the purpose is to have everyone post there, rather than here? If you miss a few days worth of posts on there, you could have to scroll for a while to get caught up, correct? On here it's pretty easy to find where you were last. Maybe I'm completely a noob and need some education of the discord interface 😎

I like both, but prefer short, 1 match videos. You can always put all 5 matches of a league in a playlist but much easier to digest in shorter 20-45 min videos.

Edit: I appreciate both sides of the Dictate/As Foretold debate. They are two different types/styles of deck though. Is there a hybrid lurking somewhere in there? I believe so, but not sure exactly what/where it is.

I do want to try both versions and try to land on a single "hybrid" that has JtMS, Search, As Foretold, Dictate, "the usual suspects" and probably AV.

I'm also thinking that with Jace, we probably want to prioritize Gigadrowse and Remand because the line could be (worst case on the draw):
    T1: island, go
T2: island, go, on your upkeep giga your two lands
T3: island, either exhaustion or go
T4: land, Jace, maybe set up miracle
T5: miracle, land, dictate or as foretold or go..

You can probably see where I'm getting at, and it may have been mentioned in one of the 50+ comments since THE GREAT UNBANNING announcement, but we want 4x Gigadrowse in one style of the new deck.

Edit2: Just browsing MTGGoldfish and came upon a 5-0 deck list piloted by Klump (not sure if we've been graced with their presence in here yet). Here's the list:

They were clearly hedging against a burn meta and not affinity. Also probably expected something like choke or boil with the 2 different non-basic U sources. I feel like we will be seeing more of those hate cards along with Guttural Response Smiledown

It's funny you posted this because I saw on twitter a few hours back that @Truckis123 (convo snap attached) ran the deck I posted at the top of page 68 and said "Turns turned out fantastic with Jace." I inquired as to the As Foretold's replacing dictate and the lack of gigadrowse to which he responded:
"dictate is a valid option but I like the utility from As Foretold. Tolaria west for living end is bonkers. Gigadrowse is not really needed. It's card-advantage and just a fog most of the time. You don't have to tap out blue to go off with this build."

My response to this, and a question I pose to you as well is: is the primary win-con now Jace? Removing PtW and only having 2x snappy seems highly risky against cards like Surgical Extraction or Pithing Needle/Sorcerous Spyglass. Maybe it's just that controlling that you're not worried about these cards?

I'm really liking the inclusion of 3-4 Field of Ruin (although I missed the boat on cheap(er) foils) to take care of the random creature lands, tron lands and other splash duals.

Why do you run both Day's Undoing AND Wheel of Fate? Feels like you really only need one-or-the-other.

Edit: Seeing as it's been mentioned exactly 1 time, almost exactly 1 year ago to the day (Feb 16, 2017 @ 8:00am CST), what do we think about Mindbreak Trap in the board vs storm, Ad Nauseam, Grishoalbrand and others?

Edit 2: @Truckis123 responded to my question about Jace being the only win-con and whether it would be good to include some number of PtW; he said:
"Nope, I don't need another type of wincon, but I did add a third snapcaster now to be more aggressive :p "
