@TheOnlyOne652089: Thanks, the figures for the commons/uncommons help with a rough starting estimate. I'm definitely not going for 4x each rare/mythic, just one will suffice.

@Dresden: I'm definitely skipping Fourth to Tenth edition, as well as Modern Masters, Planechase, and Vanguard. Will have to decide where I stand on Planes, Schemes and Vanguard avatars though. On the subject of oversized cards, box toppers are not on my list. The $35-39K ballpark was very helpful, thanks!

@Token_Hunter: Alternate 4th and Summer Magic are out of the question for me, I don't believe I've even seen physical Summer Magic cards. Foreign-only sets will not be part of my list, as I am going for english language cards only. As for promos, I've only decided to include Pre-release stuff.

@Wildfire393: Yeah, Portal 3 Kingdoms is going to hurt badly. My ideal collection would be Unlimited, followed by expansions running from Arabian NIghts - current, core sets from M10 on, and supplementary product with unique cards such as Commander, Planechase 2012 etc. Thanks for adding some perspective to this prospective undertaking.

    Hi all,

I'm a Magic player in a limbo of sorts. I bought my first booster when Urza's Saga was new, but only started playing just before the release of Torment. Played until Saviors of Kamigawa, then stopped as friends grew up and moved away. I have been out of touch with the game approximately since Time Spiral block, and I sold most of my collection but kept all my EDH decks.

I'd like to ask, assuming I start with nothing, are there any ballpark figures for what a collection consisting of one of every card from every set from Unlimited up to Theros block would cost? Knowing my tendency to quickly fall into a state of obsession with my hobbies, it would be helpful to at least have an estimate before taking the plunge into extremes.

    Thanks for any input!

    edit: fixed some grammar.

I used a Canon S330. I have no idea if you can still buy them (or if you even want to). I suppose printers that turn the pages completely over (and therefore bending them) might give you trouble in using this procedure.

Thanks for this information. my printer is similar so i might experiment.

Yes, I printed directly on the card.

Ok, here is the whole deal:

I used 220 grit sandpaper to sand off the entire face of the card. I tried using finer sandpaper, but the ink would not stick to the card face after I tried printing on it. I then took a normal 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and printed a "draft" version of the card image on to the sheet of paper. Then, I taped the card on to the sheet so that the image would be properly centered on the card. I then printed the image again, this time with "high quality" or something (although I seem to recall using slightly lower quality printing and still getting a result just as good) and then let the ink dry overnight or so. You should let the card dry right on the sheet of paper; trying to remove it will result in smearing the ink. Note: it is VERY IMPORTANT that the paper tray on your printer be very tight relative to the sheet of paper when you print; otherwise, the card could be printed off center ever so slightly, resulting in a much worse proxy.

Regarding the actual images of the cards, I received the template from somebody three years ago; I did not make the template myself. I will not post that template here, for various reasons. Note that the moxen have gray mana symbols; this is because they are from the Mirrodin age. Nowadays, you can make whatever cards you want using MTG Set Editor.

    What printer did you use?

Unfortunately for me, last.fm only provides a 30 second sample of the song i'd like to listen to. Maybe i should do a more comprehensive search of the website.

Thanks for all the replies but i'm looking for something very similar to radioblogclub. Some site that plays full tracks, not just samples.

I'm not interested in downloads of any sort. I'm looking for sites similar to www.radioblogclub.com. If anyone could enlighten me on this matter, i'd be most grateful

With the advent of Planar Chaos and its Planeshifted cards, it certainly seems so.
Take Damnation as an example. While the Timeshifted cards were reprints of existing cards, their Planeshifted brethren are entirely new cards(please ignore the fact that they are mostly functional reprints from we have seen.) A black Wrath of God is certainly not the same as the original.
So, fellow forum members, please discuss your views. Is it a conniving plot to introduce something akin to the Ultra Rares of other less successful games or am I just extremely paranoid?

I've gleaned some useful information from each of your replies. Thank you very much. Also, I am aware that pills or supplements for hair growth are marketing ploys and will produce naught but a hole in the wallet.

No... I'm not balding(Thank goodness). I was just wondering if there are any ways to encourage hair growth as I am aiming for shoulder length hair in 14 months. Currently, its about collar length, so if anyone has any information on accelerating hair growth, please oblige me.

Despite my initial abhorrence of the new card face, it has grown on me. Time changes perception.

It seems like you're trying to do too many things at once.

It sounds like you're being overwhelmed by the huge possibilities inherent to this game.

These are the exact problems I am facing. The solutions you brought up are invaluable.

You've all been a great help. Thanks very much.

Those are all great suggestions. I shall try them out to see what works for me. I've been playing since Urza's Saga, so the gatherer idea holds extra merit. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I am a casual player at heart. I put very little focus on format legality, but I also like to play reasonably powerful decks. Alternate formats e.g Prismatic, Two-Headed Giant do not really interest me. Whenever I complete a deck, I like to sleeve it and put it in a deckbox and leave it as part of my so called arsenal.

I suppose I will try the sorting method. It sounds great and will help me gather cards from all the archetypes running around in my collection. From that point, assembly and sleeving will be much less of a hassle. Once again, thank you for your suggestion. I am eager to hear more from anyone who wishes to contribute or has experienced something similar.

Over the course of my Magic playing years, I have accumulated a veritable mountain of cards. Now, the problem is, I have so many cards that each time I look towards my collection in an attempt to build a deck, I see so many piles of unfinished deck ideas and even more unexplored ones. This has resulted in many fruitless deckbuilding attempts. The end result is nothing being done.
Simply put, my collection has to many potential decks within it that I find it impossible to focus on a single idea. I have stopped buying new cards for quite some time, but I can't seem to clear all my old ideas. What shall I do?
