I know this is simple but I've been arguing this with my friend for days.
On my turn, I have 3 Memnites out (that I casted on the previous turn) and I enter the Combat Phase. I declare all 3 Memnites to attack and tap them. In response my opponent flashes in Izzet Staticaster and taps it to use its ability to kill my Memnites. In response to the Staticaster's ability, I cast Galvanic Blast (presumably with metalcraft since my Memties didn't die yet) to kill the Staticaster to save my creatures.
My question is, since the Galvanic Blast is on top of the Staticaster's ability on the stack, does the Staticaster die before its ability resolves? Or do all the Memnites die because it was already tapped for its ability.
I know the priority and casting might be a little fudged between steps in the combat phase. Could someone please explain in detail how this would work and resolve?
So, let's say I have Blood Artist on my side of the field plus 3 other creatures. My opponent plays Day of Judgment to destroy all my creatures - how would Blood Artist's ability work? Would I gain 4 life or would nothing happen?
All of the people on here that think that cards like Index are anything other than complete trash are the reason that no one takes card evaluation/strategy talks on here seriously.
Index is garbage. In every sense of the word. Sleight of Hand is >>>>>> over Index, and saying it is anywhere near Ponder is completely laughable. It will never see play. Ever. Impulse would have been fine, but Index is a depressingly bad joke.
All the people on here who think their opinion is fact is the reason why no one takes card evaluation talks seriously. I mean really? You're not God or the best, so stop talking like you are. You're no better than the other people who are whining about Blue losing a 1-drop draw spell.
Unless RTR has a new 1-drop draw, I think Index will have to see play in Standard. Because with out draw and deck manipulation, blue doesn't stand a chance.
A ramp spell that costs anything more than 2 mana is irreverent in standard, if you're looking at Tier 1. I mean people might try to make it work but other than that, EDH players can buy it cheap.
Help with humans or any all around suggestions will be considered. May acquire a 2nd Liliana of the veil, though I have had problems with not wanting to do any of her abilities.. so that concerns me.
How do you deal with swarm decks? I feel Curse holds down the fort really well, especially with humans. You're running quite a few big drops too - do you use tap-out style to get out the sphinx and Grave Titian?
"For instance, in a recent MTGO PTQ, the win rate of WU Delver decks against non-Delver decks was a bit under 51%."
So does this mean that Wizards only looks at their own events? I almost feel like they don't even pay attention to other circuits, besides the fact that MTGO is a lot different then MTG IRL. Delver isn't unstoppable like Caw-Blade was but I still feel like it needs to be dealt with some how.
so, i'm having trouble with this deck and was wondering if i can get some thoughts. UW Control, splash black for flashblack. any tips or pointers would be awesome. No SB as of yet
UB Control is not prevalent right now. It's too slow and wayy too beefy. There's too much aggro going on that's a lot faster and more serious. The thing UB needs is easy flyers, and quick - anywhere between turn 3 and 4. I think that's the reason why Esper is doing a little better because of Lingering Souls and being able to flash it back for practically nothing. Just my thoughts
Are +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters treated as two separate objects when they're on the same creature, or do they negate each other so once they're both on, they cease to exist?
Classic Example: You have a Geralf's Messenger and a Fume Spitter on the field. The messenger already has the +1/+1 counter from Undying and then you sac the Fume Spitter to put the -1/-1 counter on. So if the Messenger dies again, will it come back again with +1/+1 counters?
I know Tamiyo isn't getting a lot of talk and play right now, but I really think she's one of the better cards in the set. Everyone is worried about cavern, but between her, Frost Titan and Ghost Quarter I think we're in a pretty good place.
I've considered running more of her and the Titan just to up my tapping potential. Also: does Tamiyo's third ability count for her, too? If I use all of her loyal counters to get that emblem, does she die, return to my hand, ready to play again and tap again?
Yea, Frosty Titan is a little underrated ATM, only because no one expects it and if you control the rest of the board well enough it could be pretty hard to deal with. And as far as Tamiyo goes, the Care Rulings state
If you activate Tamiyo's third ability when she has eight loyalty counters on her, she'll be put into your graveyard before the emblem is created. She won't return to your hand.
Great analogy
