I'm wondering if there will be some weaker, cheaper to cast dragons that could more easily trigger the "when a dragon attacks" abilities of these dragons. Otherwise, only the BR one with the Dash ability that gives it haste could reasonably expect to see its ability activated before removal.
Didn't the article with the first dragons spoiler mention something about this having the highest dragon per pack ratio ever? Hopefully that means some cheap good dragons
That is an odd list for sure. No idea why those are in the board but things like a one of Empty the Warren is not included when you are running the Burning Wishes. I would love to hear what the person has to say about that board as well.
While not the best use of the card there are a couple on theme blue pingers, Stinging Barrier and Pirate Ship come to mind, that would let you make more starfish as well.
I read that phrase: "RAISE YOUR BANNER" in the OP and immediately thought of Flagbearers. It would be cool to see them come back as I felt it was a really cool mechanic. I dont have anything but speculation on this but it would be an interesting way to return to a cool old mechanic that was very under printed.
I always liked that card, a kinda Provoke for spells is a interesting design space not sure how many of them you could print before it made removal a pain though, interesting interaction with the Strive cards though...
I also thought of the Banneret cycle which might be cool if we are going wide and have some tribal undertones.
It's kind of sad, Wotc has been steadily reducing their GenCon presence over the past couple years. GenCon is the premier convention for rpg/board/card gaming in the US. Yet, WotC provides pretty much no support for it.
Yeah. GenCon is my only real con of the year, so my big time for buying new stuff includes zero Magic or D&D.
From what I heard, they're planning on "replicating last year's successful approach" which was so successful I spent four days at the con and didn't know they were doing anything until the following spring.
On the bright side, their new approach saves me money every year
Cheers!

Ayyup. I was excited to do whatever they were planning for the 20th anniversary last year. Then it turned out that was... nothing. So I did nothing! Instead I played a bunch of other games, and didn't spend any money on Magic.
If they replicate last years "succesfull" approach, I will jsut get to play even more doomtown. Which is a good thing, I guess.
I am the same way at GenCon, I spend so much time and money of MTG during the year that I ignore it at GenCon. Don't even take my magic stuff with me, there are just to many other new games and stuff to try out. Plus this year I am working the Con some so even less time to sling cards.
Have you thought of running Smallpox instead of Zombie Infestation? Seems like it'd combo pretty well with Athreos plus the only thing you'd really lose would be a land and a life, and if they don't want your creature back in your hand thats 4 life you've taken from them for 2 black mana.
Totally forgot that I have the Infestations in as proxies for the Necromancer's Stockpile on Tappedout.com since the new cards aren't up yet. I had smallpox in the deck for while but ended up moving them out for the Changeling cards since they can be casted over and over
I think Haakon Stromgald Scourge is looking to be broken with Nameless inversion, anyone have a decklist that best fits him?
I have been tinkering with a list that uses the new Enchantment from M15, Necromancer's Stockpile as a way to get him in the yard as well as Aether Vial
While I do like his thoughts on the matches, I wish he would stay on topic a bit more, when half a match goes on and they are talking about cards form 1996 that have no relevance to the game it does it a bit annoying.

That is my friend Paul, and he played out the 9th round with a win so he will be 8-1 going into top 8

It still needs some work, it is a very rough first draft, but the idea of the changeling instants and recurring creatures seemed good.
