well it has a lot to do with how awkward black was in avacyn restored... black went from really aggressive zombies (INN and DKA) to an 8CMC demon. then wizards nerfing blue in M13 not to mention printing cavern of souls.
I think there was an article about why the didnt want to print a pyroclasm-esque card because it would completely destroy the limited environment. But I do agree there needs to be a check for BTE in block. Having 8-9 Power on the board by turn 2 is just a little disgusting especially when your opponent is on the play there isn't a card to deal with that. Personally i think we need something along the lines of barter in blood. too much 1 for 1 when it comes to removal.
I recently sold my paper set and moved to mtgo. I don't really care to invest a ton of capital into magic again but what I dont mind doing is attempting to go "infinite" on modo.
I just wanted to discuss methods of going infinite and I wanted to discuss mtgo day trading/market trends and attempt "a pack to power" approach to starting my mtgo collection.
I was actually going to address that in my response to JBL. The match up is purely about card advantage. The only ways BWR generate card advantage is underworld connections and rakdos's return where esper has more avenues and more ways to get the 2 for 1.
I just started playing block so i sleeved up this jund bad boy... and to be honest I'm not really impressed. I feel like im constantly getting blown out by mono red and dynacharge.
To be honest the most notable card that we got out of GTC was skullcrack. Having the ability to shutoff life gain is tremendous. Ive been playing Izzet as a side pet deck since RTR the best direction that the meta has taken since GTC released is the fact that not every deck uses Caverns for mana fixing anymore since there is access to the other 5 duals.
ive been working on a B/G/X mill similar to that old BUG list that popped up awhile ago... with ghoultree, jarad, splinterfright, boneyard wurm, etc. cool deck but its just too reliant on GY strategy.
appetite for brains 1 for 1's thragtusk all day... rakados keyrune shuts down thragtusk all day... slaughter games shuts down most decks in the format...
B/R control is definitely do-able right now... The tools are there. there are various means for card advantage. underworld connections, bloodgift demon, sign in blood, rakados returns etc. The deck is do-able. im working on one right now...
the fact that dreadbore exist makes this deck workable right now. These colors always needed ways to deal with planeswalkers. (ex. Vampire Hexmage). B/R has pretty much all the removal.
nice fatties, thundermaw, descration demon, bloodgift demon, you have access to olivia.
its just a matter of working numbers. I think it is poised very well for the meta.
