It has a major point. It not only allows them to save slots in the 51 new cards (every new card has to have new art and side projects only have very limited budgets), but it's legal for 100% of commander decks. A triland is only legal in a deck with all 3 colors due to commander's color identity rule. Printing cards for a format with unusual rules means making unusual choices. Rupture Spire was a common designed to color fix in limited for a multicolor block. It couldn't be too powerful for that reason.
A 5 colored land that enters tapped is also probably unplayable for vintage or legacy, so they don't run the risk of printing something so powerful that the decks get inflated in price and cracked open just for the single card.
Seriously, such a land makes perfect sense for this particular product.
It just amazes me how many people don't know the rules
I think you need to learn the offical rules, their is no color identity rule hence why every deck runs urborg cabal coffers and deserted temple its just that they will produce colorless mana if black isn't one of your commanders colors, which is why menarch is unplayable
Simple math ,$30x10=300/2=$150+9 tax (6% of a 100 is 6 and then 1/2 of 6=3)=$159 for all five ,then add another $15 for shipping if you choose to buy it from online.*$174)
First taste of the S2M2 30-card Sealed Swiss tourneys. I end up with a pretty solid mono-blue flyer/metalcraft deck, despite it being mono and having no experience building 30-card decks.
First game with my first opponent has quite a bit of back and forth, including my dangerous Screeching Silcaw on the field. (Milling totally P0WNS in the 30-card format.) After getting hit a few times with four card library dumps, he gets tired of it and drops a Phyrexian Rebirth for a 7/7 Horror in play. Next turn, he gets me down to 4 and drops a Steel Hellkite. My hand can't respond to it, so as a last ditch effort, I pop my Flight Spellbomb. I'm amazed at my newfound luck, as a Volition Reins pops in my hands AND I have the mana to cast it.
Since the Hellkite could just fly over the Horror if I stole it and kill me (he still had 11 life), I steal the Hellkite. I'd never used a Hellkite before, so I wasn't completely familiar with the abilities. However, I saw the X ability and thought that since the token had a CMC=0, I could use it even in my tapped out state. But then I read the ability and thought it said that the opponent's creature needed to be damaged. Seeing that the Horror couldn't be blocked by a flyer and take any damage, I skipped my attack and turn in order to block with it. He responds with dropping a Tumble Magnet and tapping my Hellkite.
While the magnet tap is on the stack and desperate for options, I re-read the X ability: "Destroy each nonland permanent with converted mana cost X whose controller was dealt combat damage by Steel Hellkite this turn." %#$&!
it would have been summing sick since you just stole it anyhow ,so really you didn't mess up.Or does the hell kite have haste?
