  • posted a message on Anyone have any chargeback issues when selling in Sales Lot?
I'm no high volume seller, but I've done a good amount of business on this site and never had chargebacks become an issue. I can certainly understand your concern, though. I've only made probably three or four deals on this site over $300, but when doing so, it's especially apparent that you're placing a lot of trust in another individual. It seems there is a code of honor to which many people subscribe, and that's what makes it work.

I think you'd find your time selling cards better spent here than on eBay, that's for sure. Sellers are afforded virtually no protection there, and I deal with that firsthand every day working in E-Commerce. You'd think for the 13% (eBay/Paypal fees) you wouldn't get jerked around so much, but it happens every day.

It could be an artist proof as well, but I don't know that I've seen one of those in a non-English language before.

I would do it if I were you. I have three such decks (2 EDH, 1 60-card), and though having the cards is great, the thrill of the chase as you try to trade for (or even find someone with) the last card you need is even more gratifying.

That said, I'd make certain the deck is going to be a mainstay before pimping it out. I've been playing on and off since '95, and the only decks I've really put the work into are my signature decks that I've either had for awhile or know will not be taken apart any time soon.

Regardless of what anyone (myself included) tells you here, just have fun with it and build your deck in a way that will make you happy because it's yours.

Oh come on, Force of Nature and Lord Of The Pit were great at the time (for casual). You're telling me you never played W/G with Force of Nature, elves, CoP: Green, and Hurricane? Same goes for the Lord, Pestilence, and CoP: Black. Good times.

    Quote from 5480
    1. There are many auctions of the same card, and each auction is still ongoing and the prices are different
    2. When an auction is closed, it is not possible to search for it anymore. So unless you are following that auction in advance, you don't know its final price.

So, how can you know the ebay price for a particular card?

Over on the left hand side of the eBay page, underneath the category search options, there is a box you can check that says "completed listings" that will only show you auctions that have ended for a particular item over the last 90 days.

  • posted a message on Junk cards - do you throw them away?
I never like to throw mine away because there is always someone just getting into the game who will appreciate anything you're willing to give them that will expand their knowledge of the game, whether through bad cards or good.

  • posted a message on Anybody ever had a good score with a Repack?
I once received an English Legends Mana Drain from a set of twenty repacks that I purchased on the auction site. I was very excited, and that's still the only copy of that card I've ever had an opportunity to acquire.

For the most part, repacks are an exercise in futility. For every seller that offers legitimate repacks, it seems there are ten that are just out to take your money. As others have said previously in the thread, there are ways to tell the good repacks from the bad if you do your research.

I can't say that I regret any of the few times I purchased them, because a fair portion of the junk rares that I received ended up being useful when a shiny new format called EDH became popular. You might even happen across some cards from sets you've not seen that could give you an idea for a new deck. Repacks are not all bad, but you must know what you are up against when purchasing them.

So....upcoming spoiler alert...anyone looking forward to Return to Ravnica? *Clasps hands and counts coins like a greedy CEO*

I am very much looking forward to the return, and I'm hopeful that even with the changing mechanics, it will remain a similar drafting/sealed experience to the original block. I will probably end up forgoing most of M13 just to gear up for RTR.

I hope they reprint the shocks. It'll let me finish up sets of them that I never got back when they could be had for $4-5, and even if the reprint hurts the value, I'll still be happy to have and play with the originals for the most part. Perhaps this will be the opportunity that Wizards will seize to at least quell the whining from Modern players about reprinting staples ("Why didn't they reprint everything right away!? They said they would...waah").

Does anyone have an idea why they decided to mix allied and enemy color combinations in the forthcoming sets as opposed to leaving them in the same release order as Ravnica? I'm not for or against it in any way, but it seemed like a curious decision.

Wow, I've been away so long that now Josh is coming back? That's awesome, yet sad that I've been so removed from buying cards. I've been doing a lot more playing over the past couple months than buying, and most of my finances are tied up due to the fact that I may finally become a property owner at the end of August if everything goes according to plan.

Hope everything's good with everyone else, and I assure you I will be back to the buying provided this townhouse deal goes off without a hitch (and then I'll have more space to store cards, too)!

Also, I picked up a small collection from a coworker recently, and may use some of that to power a rejuvenated sales list if I can just find the time to update it or unretire it if that's necessary.

Thank goodness, I panicked a little when I read JTMS in Psi's post. I sort of actually wanted to play standard in the next 6+ months, except during the fleeting second where I thought Jace 2.Jerk's return was a possibility.

Anyone have any thoughts on trying to force mono-red in Standard? I have a deck that I whipped up that seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering how much trouble I'd be in for when Game 2 rolls around. I only built it because Leyline of Sanctity and Kor Firewalker are no longer issues, and I wasn't aware of any completely anti-red sideboard cards in Standard at the moment.

@Blood: I actually was at the Twins/Angels game last night, which was the first time I've ever seen a team from California in person that wasn't Spring Training. It was fun getting to boo Albert Pujols in a different scenario than Cardinals vs Cubs. Smile

@Dresden: The injuries killed the NBA playoffs for me this year too, as I'm a Magic fan and I like the Bulls as well. So now that they're deeply discounting tickets in Chicago, they are probably sitting at about the normal rate that Timberwolves tickets go for up here.

It's pretty awful, honestly. It's also really frustrating, especially for new legendary foils, because they are so overvalued at the start due to EDH.

    Talk about first world problems.

Haha, no joke. I actually was looking through my decks the other day, and trying to imagine a time where I would sell off all the foils and just made the decks over again out of regular cards....

Could not put myself there. I can't see myself ever not finding the game of Magic (as well as collecting premium cards) fun, so things will probably stay the same for me unless I have some awful life event come up that requires me to come up with instant money or face lifetime debt.

Did anyone here happen across a prerelease with more fancy things in the Helvault such as judge foils and whatnot? I didn't go to one, but I thought that would have really been cool for some people.

Hey Dresden, when is that Madison SCG tourney? I might have to see if I can make that, since Madison's the only place I ever tasted moderate success at a larger tournament (it was Extended though).

As far as AVR, holy crap foil Griselbrand I need it. Outside of that, should be some fun stuff as long as I ignore the miracles.

Wow, I need to check in more often. I definitely missed the boat on Personal Tutor. Ah well, who knows how this Miracle stuff will turn out? I think I'll agree with the people who think it's a bit too much work to be truly worth it.

Is anyone more excited for a possible return to Ravnica than they are about AVR? I know I am (come on, shock reprints)!

@Ice: There's never a bad time to pick up the player's set of Revised duals. One of my friends convinced me to do that a few years back, and it certainly makes deck building easier.

@Blood: Was that on eBay or this site? Either way, it sucks that you got screwed over. I wish people would grade their older cards a little more harshly just so that buyers wouldn't be disappointed.
