Apr 30, 2011maybenextime posted a message on Mad to say the least:how Wizards screwed usno they arent in prison..wizards could have pressed legal charges against matignon for breaking the non disclosure agreement, but right now the only things wizards has said is that they have banned matignon for three years and wafo-tapo for almost two. if charges were pressed, it would take a while for the legal system ti work as it is between america and france and i don't thaink wizards feels it would be worth it to waste all the money on attorneys and court fees, and instead just decided to handle it internally by banning them. if they decided to press charges they could charge matignon for breaking the nda, but they could not charge they people he shared the godbook with as they did break any laws. But as of now no one is in prison, and probably there will be no legal action involving either countries justice systems. Banning matignon and wafo tapo is punishment enough for them, as for a large part magic is how both of them make their livings. I've played against and tested with both of them, and they are good guys, and honestly if I had an entire new set sitting in front of me it would be incredibly tempting to share it. His excuse that he shared it with wafo just to get advice for the article is carp though, and there's no way that he wasn't using the godbook to start testing as well.Posted in: maybenextime Blog

Apr 22, 2011maybenextime posted a message on New Phyrexia leaked, and the value of phyrexian manaThanks. Glad you liked it, it's really good to know people read my stuff as I'm getting a pretty good response on twitter and facebook and throughout the community in general. I'm gonna set up my own blog in the relatively soon future. Phyrexian mana is gonna be really good, but per usual people will complain about its power level just as they did with cascade, storm, etc..To a certain extent i think WIzards may have made mistake with phyrexian mana they did with cascade as they put the ability on some of the best cards in the set which raise the already powrful cards power level exponentially. Only the future will tell what will happen, but for now the set looks really good.Posted in: maybenextime Blog

Apr 17, 2011maybenextime posted a message on Grixis Tezzeretthe deck seems pretty loose in a lot of ways. Firstly, theres really no reason not to run four maindeck tezzerets, or any reason to run chandra. Chandra is pretty terrible right now, and if you want to be playing a five mana planeswalke rit should probably be lily. Honestly, the numbers inn the deck appear incredibly random, and you talk about a toolbox, but really don't have a definitive toolbox, but rather just tezzeret hoping to hit your random numbers. If you want a toolbox, trinket or treasure mage is probably the best way to go. Also, sarkhan is terrible, and the fact you have him in a deck with one creature, and a high mana curve seems bad, and it looks like you just crammed random planeswalkers into a deck not because they make sense, but because you have them and as such want to play them. Jace beleren? Honestly, bayb jace is fine if your already playing a set of mindsculptors, but right now there is no reason not to be playing big jace as he his the best card in standard undoubtedly. If your just looking to play a deck with random expensive cards thrown in, then this is fine, but if your looking to win tournaments this won't suffice. Expect to find yourself in the 0-2 bracket rather quickly. I'm not trying to bash you, just trying to abbrasively help you out. PeacePosted in: Denz1 Blog

Mar 6, 2011maybenextime posted a message on The New Boss Naya?In its original philosophy, boss naya was a midrange deck designed to beat the formats other aggresive decks by having better attrition, and playing bigger creatures like wild nacatl and knight of the reliquary for low amounts of mana. Going by that philosophy, there are a few problems with your deck. The first, and perhaps most distressing to anyone trying to build a deck, is that it is not very concentrated. Your deck has gobling guides, which give it the appearance of an aggresive red based deck, but then you also you also include cards like day of judgement and hero of bladehold, which makes the deck more of a controlling white based build. These two things cannot function in the same deck, because there is a tremendous lack of synergy.Posted in: Shadowfox103 Blog
If i was to play naya, which I wouldn't really suggest right now, I'd most likely play something like this:
That list, while still not perfect, is a better idea of a naya deck. Gren sun's zenith is just sooo good right now, and it also lowers your reliance on fauna shaman to tutor up one of's. Inferno titans pretty sweet right now, and any red deck that plays ramp should be playing it. Your worst matchups are probably the aggresive decks, as without cunning sparkmage they just toast you. Good luck anyways, if you have any questions, I'm a pro and have been playing a while so hit me up. -

Mar 1, 2011maybenextime posted a message on a better faeIts a very interesting position you have, and to some degree you are right. To address your first point, yes faeries did have a very good perfomance at gp atl. But, regardless of its good perfomance it still has a very unfavorable matchup against valakut. Any deck can put up a good perofmance in a gp, as long as they do not run into their problematic matchups, and while Owen did run into valakut, sometimes you just get there on your bad matchups.Posted in: maybenextime Blog
Secondly, any professional player, or for that matter anyone who has a significant amount of knowledge concerning the extended metagame will tell you that reverberate is not a very common card in the sideboard of valakut, and most people would not play around it. When in a position to win, knowing the opponents deck does not play counterspells, it is almost always right to go for the win. If he rips a scapeshift he wins, and he could be sandbagging a scapeshift. The chances are not greater of him having reverberate than scapeshift, because as I already said that is not a common card, and even if he does not have a scapeshift on top he can draw explore into scapeshift.
Thanks for commenting though, and if you have anymore questions about extended or anything message me or comment. -
Feb 25, 2011maybenextime posted a message on LEDless Ichorid For Legacythat is an extremely rough dredge list. being led-less is fine, because led just makes the deck faster, but you have a bunch of cards that clearly can either be upgraded. Nether shadow is a pretty bad card, and has no real place in that deck, especially when bloodghast is a strict upgrade. Also, for not having led you do not have enough mana sources. There is realy no reason to have two maindecked flame kin, if your deck is efficient as a dredge deck, then it will be able to see the firs one on turns 1-3, and if you need to run two to be able to see them ocnsistantly then your decPosted in: Schondetta Blog
k is not good enough. The sideboard is pretty rouhg, and has a multitude of problems, such as overboarding for every deck that plays artifact based graveyard hate. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
It honestly probably has to do more with starcity itself. Starcity ingeniously created the legacy opens so that not only do they make money off of the event, but so more people would need to by the expensive legacy cards that were previously not selling. As legacy has gotten to be more popular with the opens, subsequently the cards have gotten much more expensive. Because starcity has a huge amount of legacy staples, moreso then almost any other singles dealer, they are able to arbitrarily dictate prices on legacy, because they are the ones the cards are being bought from.
Since this, I really haven't had nay cards of my own, because I had traded alot of my collection to get to the dark depths deck. I've become alot more responsible with cards though also, because they are as everyone knows incredibly expensive.
Sorry man that you got your stuff stolen, I know it sucks really bad, and i hope you get them back. I probably wouldn't go back to that store for a while though if the person ho stole them isn't caught, because you know that there is someone there who is okay with stealing expensive cards form other people.
