Sep 25, 2011DOLZero posted a message on The Vault SkirgeI dont think that it will get near $10, and I certainly hope that no commons reach that price again in the future (I am looking at you, Maze of Ith). I just happen to think that with Skirge being popular in a few different formats that it will likely be worth more than the $.75 that its currently selling for.Posted in: DOLZero Blog

I really don't worry about Blood Moon personally. It's a card that sees some play in a very few number of decks. The chances of running into it are slim.
I also think that 8 sources for a single color are not enough. Even if I were to splash, I would run at least 11 sources. Probably 12.
My biggest criticism is the mana base. You've only got 6 black mana sources. I would try to find some more in there, whether it's Sandsteppe Citadel, Mana Confluence, or more Overgrown Tomb/Godless Shrine.
This is an interesting idea. I like the concept, although I'm not sure I would call it Burn. You get a lot of information out of Goblin Guide, Mishra's Bauble and Gitaxian Probe, and Countersquall reminds me of a counter/burn strategy. By the way, I've never even heard of Mishra's Bauble before. Free prowess Trigger on Swiftspear is nice. You also get extra dig with it, Probe and Manamorphose.
I hear you on Rift Bolt. I'm not exactly enthusiastic about that card, but it's nice to play when your opponent leaves 2 mana open for Remand or something. That's usually my favorite time to suspend it.
I would probably cut out some Shard Volley for a 4th Eidolon and then a few extra land. 17 seems risky, even with cantrips.

And I wouldn't run less than 19 lands. 18 has gotten the better of me more than once. Maybe if you're just playing RW, but I recommend at last one more land for each additional color. Despite what some people might think, the Legacy version runs 20-21. I've been criticized for only running 19.

I feel like I lost two decks because I had Pod and Hatebears is another deck of mine that just lost one of it's best match ups. Now I'm stuck with Burn as my only playable deck, and to be honest, I'm sick of playing Burn. Might be done with this format as a whole.
