    My 2 Cents on proxies:
You own the cards, but they're in another deck? I'm cool
You don't own the cards, but you want to test before buying? Cool, as long as you announce that beforehand.
You don't own the cards, but you want to destroy everything? Not so cool, and I wouldn't even play this if I knew before the game started.

My biggest pet peeve in all of magic is players who use proxies, that are basically just a name on a piece of paper, and then expect everyone to know everything that card does, and then when asked don't even know the card that well by themselves. Same goes for foreign cards, know your own *****!

I don't mind proxies, but I appreciate seeing them done with some more effort than just writing down a shortened name on a slip of paper.

My rating is mostly influenced by how limited played out. So sets like DKA might benefit from being drafted with the awesome ISD. I also buy boosters and open them for the fun of it. My BFZ rating is of course only based on the first impression of the spoiler and might change according to the fun of drafting it.

    M11: 2

    SOM: 2
    MBS: 1.5
    NPH: 2
    M12: 2

    ISD: 4
    DKA: 2.5
    AVR: 2
    M13: 2

    RTR: 3.5
    GTC: 2.5
    DGM: 0.5
    M14: 2

    THS: 2.5
    BNG: 1
    JOU: 1.5
    M15: 1.5

    KTK: 3.5
    FRF: 2

    ORI: 2.5

I love the Jeskai Infiltrator because it is something completely new and just seems like a lot of fun to me.
I also ike the black intro demon, if only for EDH.
Soulfire 30$ bear is way over the top and I hate it for that. Obviously very good, but too pushed in my opinion. Let's hope the rest of the set is on a high power level, otherwise this might become another Voice of Resurgence

I know, chinese cards generally don't command a premium and are cheaper than their japanese equivalents but is this still the case when it comes to Conspiracy?
I can find japanese cards without having too much of a problem finding what I'm looking for. Chinese cards seem to be a lot harder to come by.
Would you say that chinese cards from Conspiracy are worth much more than the japanese ones?
Especially in Europe, on magiccardmarket there seem to be close to no Chinese CNS cards at all.

    Ok, thanks!

I would've been very surprised if me and my playgroups alwys played it wrong. I wasn't beligerent about it, as I said in the OP, I let it go. The player with the spectral searchlight was willing to let me get mana so that I didn't attack him. The two of us let the other two established players talk us out of it and I didn't want to make a big thing out of it.
Sadly, this just adds to the not soo great overall impression I have of that place, where things are never done by the book.

Ok, I feel stupid asking about this, but yesterday's CNS draft left me feeling even more stupefied.
Are you allowed to ask another player, who has an untapped spectral searchlight in play, for a certain color of mana?
At my LGS apparantly you are not. Me and my EDH playgroups as well as any other people I've had casual multiplayer games with, must have played it wrong then, because we always used that card as a political favor.
I didn't complain much, because the other two players were adamant about this ruling. The guy with the spectral searchlight was willing to give me the mana I asked for. That LGS just has a history of always doing things the wonky way. I just want to know if I was in the wrong here.

In short: Is there a rule that does not allow another player to ask for mana from spectral searchlight?

edit: I did actually remember the wording in a wrong way. So I'll ask this: Can I ask the player with the spectral searchlight to choose me?

  • posted a message on [CNS] Secrets of Paradise + Sentinel Dispatch
    Hello!

Can I name "Construct" as my choice for Secrets of Paradise? "Construct" being the name for the artifact creature - construct you get from Sentinel Dispatch. I guess the same question would apply to any tokens...and I'd say you can't because you have to name a card. The tokens are not cards (well they are...but you know what I mean).
I just want to settle this discussion with a friend before I draft CNS tonight.
    Thanks!

As someone mentioned Ajani "mentoring" being portrayed by his +1 ability of giving counters, I can see his ultimate as portraying his ultimate sacrifice.
Basically, him sacrificing himself for the greater good of Theros....whatever that means. Maybe jumping in front of and thus saving Elspeth from an arrow to the knee so that she can still defeat Xenagos.

  • posted a message on Celebrities playing Magic
First off: I hate the word celebrities. So let's say "Peole who are known for stuff playing Magic"

I remember a thread like this before but was unable to find it through the search.
I like MMA. I like Josh Barnett when it comes to MMA.
    I present:

    https://twitter.com/JoshLBarnett/status/403215972816785409

That said, Josh Barnett would probably smack me in the face for calling him a celebrity.

Any other "known people" playing MTG?

    Quote from Virde

Russian and Korean are known for being the most expensive due to the small print run. Japanese is worth more than English where Simplified Chinese and Spanish are actually worth less than English since the.print run is larger.

Posted from MTGsalvation.com App for Android

I very much doubt that Simplified Chinese has a larger print run than English. There are far fewer players in China than in the US. Most of the european countries don't get their native language printed and get English cards.
I guess the same goes for Spanish; Brazil will be having Portuguese.

Does Wallmart etc. carry Spanish cards in the West of the US? Serious question, I really don't know.

I can confirm the accusations against Burnout18!
I had a very bad experience with him during RTR pre-sales. After my initial inquiry he even had the balls to never answer any further mails. Just trying to sit it out, so i had to ask for a refund.
I do agree that they most likely use this as a method for a very cheap loan.
Because of that experience and because we have magiccardmarket in europe, ebay is dead to me.

I have added 4x Delver of Secrets to the general idea of a UR LD-Deck on the first page.
It is a big hit or miss and I might remove them again.
What I like much more are the 4x Nivmagus Elemental as I have quite a few times been sitting on LD-cards with no targets but also not yet a threat on the table, so now I can just target my own lands and then exile the spell if my hand is full of unwanted LD.

Oh Lurd. I hope this isn't the case. Can someone confirm this?

I can confirm the non-randomness insofar as all people at my table who chose Selesnya had the exact same content in their guild booster.
Also saw one guy with Azorious getting the Elecutors and one guy with Izzet getting Niv-Mizzet. The latter may just be coincidence, but we were only 22 people, so i doubt it.

    Also, golgari-pack-dice were green-white.
    Selesnya-guild-dice were green-black.
