Really expensive cards typically only get reprinted in tiny sets like Commander's Arsenal. As Mana Drain costs $150+, I don't see how it could possibility retain its price as part of a $30 product. If it did, that's an automatic $120 profit for anyone who buys the C13 deck in question. Speculators would clean them out. Speculator would likely do that in any case, but the price would fall. Thoughtseize has already gone down a bit and various Modern staples have dropped from Modern Masters.
(I'm all for reprinting everything at the cost of the cardboard, but that's obviously not going to be WotC's approach.)
I don't disagree about prices dropping, as I think getting reprinted would lower the original Mana Drain's cost, but not by too much.
Just because the old Mana Drain is $150, doesn't mean the new one would be. Price would be set by supply/demand. Speculators couldn't just pocket all that cash because the original Mana Drain is worth that much, because this new one wouldn't be.

to be part of a cycle can mean alot of thing but also that those cards shares one or more things:: Protection and double color in cost

No, just no. They are not part of a cycle together. And if you were to stretch it and say they were, then that doesn't support, AT ALL, that there will be a cycle of these heroic creatures in Theros.
This is surely one of the top 10 if not top 5 best 1 drop creatures printed.

Everybody knows this. He was just saying the fine line between enchantments and artifacts is being blurred here. Really wish you'd stop fishing for reactions.
Sorry there is no fine line, only a thick, bolded line. Enchantments have an Enchantment supertype. Artifacts have an artifact supertype. They both can accomplish very similar things with few niche aspects that don't apply to both, and those kind of things can change all the time, and they do, new artifacts/enchantments come along every now and then that do something new and different.
It's not that they are releasing limited editions, it's that they are releasing that at increasing frequencies at higher and higher prices. Fnm and Gameday are promos anyone can get, and judges not that many people get but they aren't $100+ a pop and its perfectly feasible for anyone to be able to get them. I only have a problem that they released 5 collectible cards in such low quantities that they are worth $150+ each while releasing stuff like Commander's Arsenal. I just feel like they are releasing collectibles too fast and in not enough quantity that they are too expensive that even collectors aren't able to get them because by the time they have enough cash to buy one of these they announce another one.
There are plenty of judge promos that are worth over $100, and many more worth 50+. And this is just judge promos, there are other promos that are easily 100+. You don't need to get EVERY single card they release. If you feel like you do, and are THAT avid of a collector, you should have no prolbme dropping the big bucks for these promos, because this is about as rare as they come. As I said before, its good to release a variety of promos at varying price/availability.
I wouldn't mind so much of this wasn't the third time they've done something like this (these, FtV20, commander's arsenal, and to an extent MM). Having special promos every now and then to promote something specific is fine, but intentionally printing something very limited that they know many people will want multiple times a year is greedy and is not respectful to your customer base. Especially since they seem to care so much about the collectors of their game, what with the reserved list, and these do not help the collectors at all.
Now if they printed some more so that I actually felt like I could have a chance at getting these and that they'd cost $50 per walker rather than 100+, or releasing a time at which they'd sell them so that I'd have a chance, I may feel differently. I have been playing this game for 15+ years, and I have never complained about their special printings like judge promos and stuff, but I'm getting real sick of their decisions lately.

Limited edition stuff is EXACTLY what gets many collectors excited. There are TONS of different kind of promos: FNM, Game Day, Grand Prix, Judge, FtV, these, etc. And those all have varying degrees of availability. It would be stupid to make it so every promo they release is available to every single person who wanted 1 (or FOUR). They are available to you, to everybody still. You just have to dish out more money because these are very rare, and therefore more expensive, promos. If you think they're too expensive, then that's you issue, some people were lucky enough to snag them at a low price, but you can still easily obtain them now if you're willing to pay (and MANY collectors are, that's what they do, if they just got HANDED their rare cards, they wouldn't be rare).
It's also funny how you bring up the reserve list to support your argument. The whole POINT of the list is to restrict the quantities of the cards, printing more of these would be doing the opposite of what the reserve list is trying to accomplish.
All the whiners in this topic for some reason just feel sooo ENTITLED to these promos for some reason, that Wizards is evil and just moneygrubbers because they won't just hand them out to everybody who cries about not having any. Grow up.
True, but it also wouldn't be difficult for WOTC to print a different outer sleeve with a different con logo. The cards themselves don't have SDCC on them...

Ironically, one of the 20 things that almost killed Magic according to MaRo was the Nalthani Dragon Dragon*Con Promo "debacle". Yet this SDCC Planeswalker pack promo is a very similar situation. Yes, ebay exists, so people *can* get them outside of San Diego, but the print run is so small and the subject matter so popular, it is effectively unobtainable by most people.

The point was that they stopped printing functionally unique/brand new cards with limited way to receive them. Judge promos are hard to get as well, that's kind of the point of promos in fact. If everyone could just get them, what's the point?
I doubt they will put them up at anytime outside of 9-5 EST. So I'm going to head out here in about a half hour. (then come back every 5 minutes and painstakingly be glued to my computer until this goes down)

No, you're missing the point here. Those aren't just destroy all creatures, almost all have restrictions. And, notably, high mana costs, as color bending tends to do (green doesn't have a creature-monopoly, but it's creatures tend to be more cost-effective). Many have life-loss effects as well. It's these combination of things that make those black. The other cards there which destroy ALL creatures have other black effects as well, and high mana costs.
A ridiculously overpowered card that is essentially an "I win" card if you play it right, further transforming this already transformed game from Magic: The Gathering into Magic: The Planeswalkers.
wait wat. Troll? This guy doesn't do much that we haven't seen before, and its all the way up at 6 mana.
No, this is entirely different than Nalathni Dragon and is just like some other promos (GPs, Judge foils). The problem with the dragon was that was the ONLY way to get that specific card. These are just alternate versions of cards from the core set, you know, promos. Like at a GP that you can't easily attend, or a comic con you can't easily attend. Judge foils are also super exclusive.
I really like the actual card; I'll be happy to pick up all of them from those of you who don't want him. I think he's pretty playable (In the right deck let's remember) and I plan on making that deck. It seems good in a Birthing Pod Style deck with a bunch of creatures. Ruric Thar could be a possibility. Armada Wurm, Trostani... I'm naming popular cards. Maybe in some sort of Naya, Selenya or Gruul deck. Even Simic could be cool. Either way I think he looks fun and I can't wait to try him out!
We don't have a decent tutor to make a toolbox deck like Birthing Pod.
