I control a Hero of Bladehold and a Lightning Mauler. My opponent has a Vapor Snag in hand. Can my opponent wait until the Begin Combat step to send the Hero back to my hand, thus preventing me from both getting tokens and battle cry, as well as not allowing me to replay it and give it haste to attack? Or will I have a chance to then replay the Hero and swing? Also how would this work as far as declaring the steps in real life? Should I say "enter combat" and then he has to say 'during the begin combat," not "before combat?"
Would you be able to respond to the Shield trigger by activating Zendruu's ability, which would then resolve first and donate it to your opponent. (But then you take the damage anyway because it's your ability?)
I have a Delaying Shield and Zendruu the Greathearted in play, and I use all my mana during my turn. I take five damage from an opponent and five counters are put onto the delaying shield. Can I activate Zedruu's ability after I untap but before the Delaying Shield's trigger resolves to donate it, say in response to the beginning of upkeep trigger (or can this be done even before the shield triggers?)? Will the shield's ability then affect the donated player, me, or simply be removed from the stack with no effect? Thanks.
Say that I have a Sewer Nemesis and ten other cards in the graveyard and I cast The Mimeoplasm. I choose for The Mimeoplasm to become a copy of some creature (such as Vorosh, the Hunter) and I choose for him to use the power of the Sewer Nemesis to have the additional plus one counters. Will The Mimeoplasm get any +1/+1 counters from the Sewer Nemsis's power? Could I choose which player to attribute the Sewer Nemsis' stats to (which player's graveyard) and then use that power. I know that a creature such as Mortivore will provide its power while in the graveyard since it is a Card Defining Ability, but I was unsure if this was true to the Sewer Nemesis, since his P/T are part of a choice.
I believe it returns as a fresh phantasmal image that can copy what you choose, and then gets a counter on top of that. If there are no other creatures left if will just be a 0/0 image with a counter on it (a 1/1).
You believe? You're right, but by being wishy-washy you're telling everybody not to listen to you. If you're not sure of the answer, leave the question for someone who is sure. Guessing doesn't help anybody. -Carsten
Quick Preliminary Mock-up. I feel like playing a mostly mono-white would be the most competitive option, with a spash of black for Sorin, flashback on Lingering Souls, and the land (and possibly some extra removal like Go For the Throats and Doom Blades). Is this list any better than the Tokens heavy GW lists? We'll have to see. It's basically flipping Vault for Township, Sorin for Garruk, and adding the flashback on souls. Perhaps a Junk version would be better (or even heavy black, eschewing Shrine and HotP). Only time will tell.
I have a mortarpod in play and I cast a Garruk Relentless. Can I use the germ token on the mortarpod to shoot Garruk, bringing him to two counters and flipping him? I assume I can then make a deathtouch wolf and equip to mortarpod if i have the mana.
If I have a 2/2 transform card (DFC) on the battlefield which can transform into a 4/4 for example by paying some amount of mana during my upkeep(so far only the Screeching Bat has this ability), can my opponent bolt the card in response the the transform and kill it? Can I respond to that bolt with another transform payment to save it? If they cast the bolt first during my upkeep can I transform it to save it as well? Also can a player respond to the werewolf transformation during an upkeep with a bolt, before it transforms into something bigger?
More generally does transforming use the stack, and are the rules different for activated transforming (paying mana) or triggered transforming (like for werewolves)?
Vent Sentinel is a must in defender decks. Also its up to you whether you want to focus more on the ramp or the control. This deck is more of the overgrown battlement root, but you can definitely make it much better than just a bunch of walls. It actually has cool interactions.
