Shame about Gwendlyn di Corci. Blood Lust, Chains of Mephistopheles, and freaking Falling Star got in, but not her? Completely understandable actually, she's way over the line, but I'm still disappointed.

And do you really think wotc is reading these threads?

"You can't criticize something because the game makers won't read it" Good argument.
The people who need to hear it won't hear it. The people here don't want to read the exact same copypasta, context-agnostic complaints over and over again, because we already know. We don't like $16 packs either. Who the hell is this for? Oh, who am I kidding, it's all for you. You need to feel important or something.

If you can't come up with something to say that's actually on-topic and about the spoiled cards the thread is about, just make your own blog and whine there. Xcric, War Machine, that goes for you, too.

great reprint in a bloated set. have fun gambling kiddos.
Do you really need to make the exact same complaint in every single thread? It's getting old.

Unfortunately, it is a constant problem with a product like this. If WotC is going to ask us to pay 4X more than a normal pack then they need to offer 4X more. Right now Double Masters packs look worse than normal set boosters.

Much like with something like Diablo Immortal you have to constantly bring up the microtransaction heckscape because it throws it in your face, and the same thing can be said here.
What are you even talking about? I'm not aware of any set boosters that have a reasonable chance at Force of Negation, Phyrexian Altar, or Forbidden Orchard at rare, nor am I aware of set boosters with a guarantee of two rares.

And do you really think wotc is reading these threads? All you guys are accomplishing by posting the exact same complaints in every thread is annoying the readers who are already well aware the set has problems. There is no amount of copy-pasted whining on this website that's actually going to change anything.

i love the alt art, and i feel this card does not see enough play in edh.

interesting how often i'm saying this is a great edh card for spoils from this set... which came just after a ******* commander set that gave edh players almost nothing they wanted.
New cards are inherently less likely to be good in a targeted format than reprints of known staples. That's just how having play data works. A good all reprints set will just inherently have more hits than a good mostly new set.

Two things. These aren't $1 rares, at least not yet. I'm not here praising Lavalanche or Fiery Justice. And these packs have two rares, so these packs only cost double rarewise, and your probability of opening less than $2 between both rares is pretty low. Opening a pack actually worth $16 is far from a guarantee, but that's just how boosters work. You're always gonna have stinker packs no matter the price, and this set has enough bonkers rares (even ignoring the mythics) that packs above asking price aren't unlikely.

They can't all be worth more than a pack. I think the Lieges are a really cool idea in a set that supports all ten tricolors. I hope they reprint the whole cycle.

They could if they wanted to. But they won't. (If they did prices would drop on the secondary market to reflect that)

WotC loves to hear consumer comments like yours though. Willing to settle.

There's a finite amount of cool reprints, and there are lots of rares in double masters sets. Do you really expect them to blow their entire load in one year? It seems like you think wotc has a moral obligation to only give you packs worth more than the booster. Do you seriously think that's a sustainable business model? And if you don't care about that, why not demand the boosters cost $2.00? Companies not giving you exactly what you want at exactly the price you want is not a moral failing.

I predicted Altar, Seal, and Dockside, and now I'm 3 for 3. Lovely. Yedora and Grimgrin are gonna like this.

Just play cards that punish sacrificing. Viridian Revel, Disciple of the Vault, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, Mayhem Devil. It's not hard. Just use some damn creativity before you institute a playgroup-wide ban over salt.

Countering abilities was green before it was blue, like Brown Ouphe and Rust. What's odd isn't all the green ability countering these days, it's that period where ability countering only showed up in blue.

My comment wasn't questioning how green does it, but why they seem to be pushing it lately. Green has gotten a lot the last few years and this feels like yet another thing to push the color.
And my response was saying it was weird that Wizards stopped doing it in green. This recent push of three whole cards is just a return to the old norm.

So, now that we know what the final background is, let's see what the ultimate multi-background character can do! (Gonna put it into Spoilers, because my god is it a lot of text.)

At the beginning of your upkeep, exile the top card of your library. This creature gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is that card's mana value. You may play that card this turn; each player may put two +1/+1 counters on a creature they control. For each opponent who does, you gain protection from that player until your next turn; sacrifice a creature.

When this creature enters the battlefield: each player may put two +1/+1 counters on a creature they control. For each opponent who does, you gain protection from that player until your next turn; draw a card; this creature enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter.

The first time you would draw a card each turn, instead look at the top two cards of your library. Put one of them into your graveyard and the other back on top of your library. Then draw a card.

This creature has base power and toughness 10/10 and is a Giant in addition to its other types.
This creature gets +X/+0, where X is the number of creature cards in your graveyard, +3/+3, and has flying, deathtouch, "Ward-Pay 3 Life."
Creature tokens you control get +2/+2.
Room abilities of dungeons you own trigger an additional time.
When an artifact or creature you control is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, each opponent loses 1 life.
The first Dragon spell you cast each turn costs 2 less to cast.
Other creatures you control enter the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on them.
Whenever you cast a spell that shares a creature type with this creature, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn.
Whenever you cast a spell from exile, this creature deals damage equal to that spell's mana value to target opponent.
Whenever this creature becomes tapped, it and other creatures you control that share a creature type with it each get +2/+0 and gain undying until end of turn.

2U: This creature becomes a copy of another target creature.
1, Sacrifice another creature or an artifact: This creature deals 1 damage to any target.
2, Sacrifice an artifact: Put a +1/+1 counter on this creature and draw a card.

Whenever this creature attacks, it gains double strike, and if it is attacking a player, if no opponent has more life than that player: for each opponent, create a 1/1 white Soldier creature token that's tapped and attacking that player; this creature can't be blocked this turn; put a +1/+1 counter on this creature. It gains deathtouch and indestructible until end of turn; create two Treasure tokens; another target creature you control gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is this creature's power.

Whenever one or more creatures you control deal combat damage to a player, goad target creature that player controls; if they were non-token, create a 1/1 blue Faerie Dragon creature token with flying.

At the beginning of your end step: exile up to one target tapped creature you control, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control; if a source you control dealt 5 or more damage this turn, create a 4/4 red Dragon creature token with flying; if a creature card was put into your graveyard from anywhere this turn, create two tapped 1/1 green Squirrel tokens.

Here's the background list if you want to double check this.

Go-Shintai of Life's Origin might honestly be the best choice for this hypothetical background based commander, since it gives you access to tokens, enchantment recursion, and another subtheme you can dip into with plenty of nice bonuses. There would still be a few near useless ones, but I mean, we did just get some creatures that turn things into enchantments (or in the case of a certain dragon, turn enchantments into creatures!). The Ur-Dragon would also get quite a few bonuses, but loses a lot of the Ur-Dragon's own power in the deck building process.
Sisay could be fun, too. She can search for backgrounds, and gets +1/+1 for each color among them. And she has a creature type, unlike Go-Shintai, to work with the two tribal backgrounds.

It's not exactly forced, Green has had a few cards that counter target activated or triggered ability, especially if it's from an artifact. If nothing else, it's why Voidslime wasn't mono-blue, even if later on they decide Blue could do that too.

I'm well aware green has had counters before, like Lifeforce and Gutteral Response, but they've done a few green counters recently with Verdant Command, and Green Slime and I believe another, though I could be wrong about the later. I just figured we would have had a mono white counter by now.

Countering abilities was green before it was blue, like Brown Ouphe and Rust. What's odd isn't all the green ability countering these days, it's that period where ability countering only showed up in blue.

I love the idea of cultist Wilson. 5/5 flying, reach, vigilance, deathtouch, trample, and ward {2} and 3 life. That's quite the keyword soup right there.
