While we're on the error train: Xerent, Slave of Sigma's ultimate says "...x is the number of artifacts..." when it should say "...x is twice the number of artifacts..."
Rats, and I've already printed them, of course. Guess I'll just have to remember?
Im about to sleeve these in Ultra Pro Clear sleeves. Has anyone else done that? How big of a box do I need to fit all that? I'm looking to buy a nice wood one. A measurement would be great! (metric or otherwise, haha)
I have mine single-sleeved in KMC Super Blacks. The whole cube, with basic lands (but without tokens) fits pretty snugly in a ~14" (interior length) 800ct white cardboard card box.
Olivia Voldaren (can gain control of it without turning it into a vampire first because it's already a vampire). Even though she is outside wtwlf's current 360 list, I do have a section of my box that contains the extra 90 cards, just in case I need a 450 cube for some reason. Plus, the art is kinda meh, and I found a much better one. ^^
I found the note from the thread (somehow):
"Kuo's Claw is nondistinguished (matters only if it's copied by Nano-Replicators)
the replacement for Colony Pod is not a device
City Leveler is not a device (in place of Realm Titan)
Lobatis Prior's flavor lost a letter: "networks, they subvert"
I'm not sure if this is present on my cards (not home right now), but there it is.
Holy crap! All of those errors do exist on the Revised sheets. Guess I have more work to do.
IIRC there wasn't any actual legal threat; he preemptively took it down out of fear of such a threat.
That sounds like him. Everyone who worked on the project had gotten their cube, and there had been no legal trouble along the way. The fear, however unfounded, was definitely present in all of us.
I'm just sad my space cube box has QR codes of dead links to forum threads and visual spoilers that no longer exist. :'(
I was gone for a while and came back to find it missing, too. I guess I'm fine with that, since the project was already dead and I backed up everything locally.
I PMed Xerent, but he hasn't responded. Did someone get a letter, or was he just getting tired of looking over his shoulder?
No it is more along the lines that an LGS in my area believes in charging $15 for drafts. Now it is within every right for them to charge w/e they choose for w/e prizes they decide to give, but one of their main reasons for not dropping the price of draft from $15 + tax to $15 including tax is that stores that do only charge $15 are doing it under the table and not properly filing taxes.
My store charges exactly $15 for a draft. That's $12.99 (including tax) for the three packs, and $2.01 for the privilege of playing in the tournament. I don't get how that is a tax dodge.
Another store in my area--ChannelFireball's Superstars Game Center--charges $10 for a draft (and, as I say, they know what they're doing).
Do you really need to make a new one of these threads every other day?
The shop does reach 30+ in people and to ensure everyone is happy they have just started doing 2 pods of around 16 players in each.
16 players in a pod? Is that even allowed?
At the biggest Magic store in my area, there are however many 8-man pods they need (I don't play there for FNM, but I'm positive they get more than 30 people). You go 3-0, you get an FNM card.
And it's ChannelFireball, so I think that's the official to do it.
there's often a danger of going for the 'not obvious' play (i.e. taking the weaker uncommon over the objectively better rare). sometimes, this is correct (taking akrasan squire over basically everything in LLC). but sometimes, the play is not 'obvious' because it's wrong.
The store I usually play at (not a Magic store):
Draft (FNM)
Entry fee: $15
3 rounds
Payout: 1 pack per match win, promo cards at random (IIRC, top 2 get the FNM card, two other random players get it, and usually there's random promo cards being handed out willy-nilly)
Sealed (launch party)
Entry fee: $30
4 rounds
Payout: 2 packs per match win, launch party card, promo cards at random
My local Magic superstore:
Draft (FNM)
Entry fee: $10
3 rounds
Payout: 1 pack (or $2 store credit) per match win, FNM card if you go 3-0.
Sealed (normal event; they do all kinds of crazy events too)
Entry fee: $20
3 rounds
Payout:
3-0: 5 packs
2-1: 3 packs
1-2: 1 pack
My LGS offers $2 credit per booster. Draft has a $10 entry fee, normal Swiss payout.
The entry fee matters in the sense of, how many packs is worth enough store credit to enter another draft? At my local store, it's 5. Enough to make it a difficult choice. If a pack was $3, I'd take that every time. Hell, I'd draft three times a day if a pack was $3.
Didn't expect him to have so much white on him. Is that the X version from the Super Nintendo games? I was thinking of the full blue version from the NES games.
It's the box art from Mega Man X. He's not blue because he's wearing the fully unlocked armor, and he's underwater because it's Launch Octopus's stage. :|
Noted.

That's called Fancy Play Syndrome, and it's discussed here: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/li/157
Replace "Day of Judgment" with "Bloodgift Demon", and there you go.
It may be a little worse than we initially thought it was, but it's still an insane, auto-first-pick card.

Right off the bat I'd say just take the bomb (Daybreak Ranger).
