Nebuchadnezzar is cool, but by himself, he is not as formidable as Lazav. I like the instant-speed discard and how he can name lands though.

Sweet suggestions. I am pretty pumped for this deck. Morph was especially sweet, I almost completely forgot how utterly sneaky that ability can be.

When I think of perfect information I envision searching someone's library or hand almost every turn. I would also be interested in cards that allow me to exchange certain favors in exchange for said information (if cards like that exist). I am not above being political, especially if opportunities arose where alliances could be made or broken in secret.

Possibly my favorite suggestion: Head Games. Thats the kind of card I can get behind. very versatile in this sort of deck. Seems like the exact sort of manipulation Lazav would be interested in.

    Hey y'all

I've been considering the new legends from RTR and GTC and I think a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind deck could be pretty fun. I dont necessarily want to go uber mill or voltron or control, I was thinking a theme deck could be more fun.

So here's my thought: a deck based on information. I feel that this is a flavorful representation of the Dimir guild and who better to man the helm than the Mastermind himself.

Therefore I am looking for flavorful but also useful cards that would provide Lazav with perfect information.

Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions

No real run-away winner here. I voted for Ulasht because he's the only one I've ever actually built. the deck was a bit janky but it made a mess of mana and tokens and overran lots of other decks without going infinite. Loads of fun.

That being said, I can see the arguments for lots of the other commanders on the list.

I think Edric is strong in a certain meta, but there are some things that simply shut him down. Very strong from a political standpoint though.

That being said, a well built Momir Vig deck should be prepared for any kind of hate and will be frustratingly resilient to nearly all game plans. That is why I voted for Vig.

I can understand the attraction to Gisella, obviously its very powerful. I voted for Brion, though, because I think that, for a representative of the color combination, he fits the bill best.

White - efficiently costed creature with lifelink and a tap ability means that battling with Brion means making choices. This means that the Brion player has to either set up fortifications well enough to be comfortable or have a crafty trick ready.

Red - efficiently costed creature that can deal direct damage for card disadvantage. basically, you have a huge, hotheaded giant that gets so enraged that he is willing to literally hurl his own army at the opponent.

Gisella has abilities that represent her colors, but those abilities come at a cost. Cost is where Brion has the advantage.

    Just my opinion.

So I've been staring at my copy of Rafiq of the Many for a while now and I have decided to build it. I don't know where to go with the deck however. Rafiq seems to lend himself more towards the more controlling style decks that are leaning on him or a few other key finishers to close out the game.

I was thinking some sort of enchantress sub-theme might also be fun, but again, I am unaccustomed to that style of play and therefore need some assistance in the realms of card choice and strategy selection.

    Thanks in advance

What would be fun to suspend that doesn't involve some sort of Mass-wipe + Eldrazi?

I would like to play a Jhoira of the Ghitu deck, but I do not want to get hated off the table because of her reputation. Is there a way that I could still do ridiculous things with the deck without incurring any douchey politcal backlashes?

Back in the day I had a casual deck that was a combination of a 'Belcher deck and a Seismic Assault Combo deck. The goal was to use Proteus Staff to put the only creature in the deck on the bottom (any of the Chimeric artifacts) of your own deck. Since it was the only "creature" in the deck, you essentially revealed the whole deck and could rearrange it however you wanted. this meant that you could either activate Goblin Charbelcher for a bunch and kill, or you could set up another win by putting all your lands on top followed by Seismic Assault.

I could definitely see this sort of strategy transferring to EDH, particularly in UR or some combination including those colors.

I would say that 10 sounds high, but in actuality it might not be that far off. If you run each signet for your color combo in addition to things like Darksteel Ingot or Coalition Relic, you will have a hard time ever getting screwed out of a color.

This is something that took me several years of playing this format to understand: mana is everything and if you are ever locked out of one of your colors, it doesn't matter how stacked your deck is, you are still dead in the water.

I have wanted a Sliver Deck for a while now, but I did not feel like assembling the manabase or the more expensive support cards that would really make a 5-Color Sliver deck.

The question I would pose to you, the awesome EDH community, is what would it take to make slivers work without a sliver general and many of the more expensive Sliver Staples?

    Thanks in advance.

I am super psyched to get this project cooking. Is it important to organize right away or when is the best time to get organized via spreadsheet or other?

Hello all! I'm new around here.

To give some background about myself, I have been playing Magic and collecting the cards since Urza block. I tried 60 card decks for awhile, never really progressing beyond the kitchen table. I later discovered EDH (now commander) and stared building 100 card decks. I have never had more fun.

Through the years my collection has expanded to several thousand cards. This has become excessive and, to be honest, there are some cards in those boxes that I have no intention of ever playing with. This no longer makes sense. I began to search for things that I could do with my collection that would allow me to actually play with them. I started reading up on cube.

This seems to be what i have been searching for. My only question is: How do I start?

Can I/Should I start a cube with the cards that I have and supplement that as I go?

Going forward, it might help to know that I am a collector and a builder first and a competitive player second. I enjoy playing Magic as much as the next person but I would equally enjoy looking at cards and evaluating slots.

I think the sort of cube that I would be aiming for is a Peasant Cube (commons and uncommons only) for budgetary consideration + design challenge.

I would also like to add that the games that I value most are those that promote skillful and carefully thought out plays. Interesting and unique interactions are a must.

I am here to learn, so thanks in advance

It does seem strong, but I can say that I have tried it and it is usually just dead. it is expensive and the sacrifice is either too narrow or too broad. I suppose if you build around it it could be better but as is it lacks any sort of evasion and can hurt you as much your opponents.
