Jul 2, 2019Kryptnyt posted a message on A New and Exciting BeginningI guess two sites trying to 'compete' is ultimately the best for us all. No shortage of Magic fans, and there is a shortage of polished card search engines / card discussion.Posted in: Articles

I think it might end up a very bomb-centric sealed format.Posted in: Articles

If there's flamethrowers in that game, it makes a lot more sense I guess. I still don't think Nazism has anything to do with cosplay however.Posted in: Articles

Nov 30, 2017Kryptnyt posted a message on If You Can't Take Criticism of Jeremy Hambly, You're Part of the ProblemIf the problem is hate speech then the solution is reason. It doesn't matter if you convince the offending party as long as you convince everyone else. If you are advocating violence then you are automatically in the wrong.Posted in: Articles
Then again, maybe when you say flamethrowers are the answer, you're just joking around and people should just not take you so seriously. Do you advocate for Jeremy then? Because I don't. -

I think even you are confused as to which denotes an increase and which is a decrease, just look at some of those set summary pluses and minuses. Though the temptation to deviate is strong, you must overcome, and try the traditional red/blue out.Posted in: Articles

Uroboros.
JUST LET ME DIE, DAMN YOU
It would only be rare if it kept Mox in the name. See Lotus Guardian for a good example of "rare because of the name"
I think you could get away with 3,T: 4
The thing about comparing it to Oracle of Mul-daya is that playing lands from the top of your library draws you castable spells and ramps you at the same time. It's probably the best four drop green creature in the format because of that.
Garruk's Horde is nice in some decks simply because he's a fat bastard with additional value. It's very hard to get that value the turn you cast him, though.
Another distinction; You can't omniscience creatures from the top of your library, but you can Exploration lands from the top.
Oftentimes mulligans to 6 will end up giving you average 2 lands anyway in a 16-17 land deck. You have to keep some bad hands in Magic, there's no way around that.
Demon's Horn has about the same complexity level as Birds of Paradise, but they never thought to make Birds an uncommon. Someday, they will. One card just happens to be rather bad.
Paradise plume is a better flavor adage than shoving the same friggin cards in your face. "Welcome back to Ravnica, you wanted it, HERE IT IS! Bouncelands, shocklands, guildmages, birds, hybrid mana, guild keywords, Dark Confidant, hell, we even put in Zephyr Spirit, because hey, YOU WANTED RAVNICA SO BAD."
Reprinting Birds would take away something that was really special about the return of birds in City of Guilds.
Destroy target land you don't control.
Overload 4RRRR
I wonder if any Overload cards will have a cheaper overload than casting cost? Would any effect get better without overloading it?
I'm going to question Sterling Grove in this deck. How "all in" are you on the Survival combo? A three mana tutor that eats a draw step is pretty deep if you ask me, considering that and aura shards are the only things you would realistically tutor for value.
I feel like you could easily replace Seeker of Skybreak with Thousand-Year Elixir. Get your tutor on with Sisay as soon as she hits the board, twice in a row. TYE also makes sweet sweet... music?... with mangara.
Not so much "better" or even "more powerful" so much as "ubiquitous." Remember how everyone had to play it? I don't think the same would be said of skullclamp. A lot of people would play it, it's an engine and a good one. It would see a lot of tourney play. It would win those tournaments, and people would bring hate for the next tournaments. But a good portion of the decks would actually not play it at all. Compare to Brainstorm, Force of Will, etc. It would be a legacy staple and there would be nothing at all wrong with that. You catch me?
And I'm pretty sure Goblin Recruiter is banned in Legacy for the same reasons as Shahrazad is. Takes way too much freaking time to resolve.
I'm not going to guarantee that Skullclamp wouldn't lead to a degenerate legacy format, because legacy already is degenerate.
Why do you get mad when I bring the hate to the table? It doesn't mean I hate you, it means your strategy is good but there are ways around it.
When it comes to countermagic, there are only a few things that tick me off.
One is multiplayer threat analysis fail. Oh, he's playing all sorts of crazy things that you let resolve, but when I play something your lands tap faster than a college girl who's had a few too many. The other thing is Mana Drain. I see that card, and think to myself... why do you hate me, God?
The fact that they are rarer appeals to the collector's part of this game.
Hell, at least paper foils make sense. MTGO foils? Geez, where's the sanity?
