Indeed fate and fortune have roshambo'd you these days Mr. G. I hate hearing that things have gone so south lately. If you ever need someone to vent to and the forums/blogs aren't cutting it, then hit me up.

Nov 30, 2007PolarBearGod posted a message on Is it a good idea?I'd be all for it, but then again I contribute a blog a week roughly since I started. Maybe this kind off thing would bring the added attention to blogs and such. I don't know the specifics on this or how best to set it up, but I think you may be on the cusp of something good Mr. Pizza.Posted in: Post-it.MtG

I'm not the oldest person around here in the least so I haven't been privy to this stuff. Do people actually get upset over this? I was happy to even be nominated.:embarrass:Posted in: {bloggyG}

Nov 22, 2007PolarBearGod posted a message on Inspiration Via LucasThank you Alacar. I informed the people working on the signature about the change. I think I got the quote from imDb, so I thought it would be correct, but now that you mentioned that, you are correct. Thanks again.Posted in: PolarBearGod Blog

Nov 16, 2007PolarBearGod posted a message on D'awww ShucksAhh ok, you must have found my Star City stuff. Yeah, my whole hospital experience thing was a major change in my life. I used to be a pretty good player, but my declining health doesn't permit me to travel like I once did, so I started to play in just local events. My ranking took a beating, but I was happy to just be out and playing Magic again. MTGSalvation also gives me something to do, which I'm very thankful for.Posted in: PolarBearGod Blog

Nov 14, 2007PolarBearGod posted a message on Soltera Preview: Run Kobolds, Run!That looks great in a rendered frame. I'm glad you could use it. Also, Galspanic colored it, I just did the linework. Just send whoever you're interested in having alter a card, a private message and you can discuss it via PM's and such.
If we did just have the contest where we allow any alter to be submitted, then I think that would open the gates to more people willing to just choose a work they already have completed for an auction or friend or themselves.
If we provide less restrictions on alters but have some minor restrictions, then my belief is that this will still make it more of a contest and not just a "show us your best render monthly contest".
Maybe we can get more feedback and see what others think too. I could very well be wrong.
EDIT: Another idea might be to try and give the digital altered art contest a try and see if it fairs better than the non-digital variant did.
If you have a spare moment and you want to make a polar bear really happy, then check out the thread located here and give me some insight please.
Thank you everyone.
This is something that I think I have reasoned why.
Most of the people who do alters on cards, do so for two reasons. One, they like to alter cards for their decks and collections or their friends decks and collections. Two, they like to alter cards to post on auction sites or use as trade to gain cards they want.
Both reasons are completely understandable. However, the contest dips into time that one who alters could be working on something for friends, personal use, or an auction. In addition, the contest can be restricting when there's a contest idea or theme at hand.
So my suggestion is this.
The contest will become MONTHLY and the restrictions on output will be much smaller. Example?
An Ice Age block sorcery altered how you would like. All of the entries would be judged upon who makes the best alter.
That's just an example. It's less restricting and could even encourage someone who uses their alters for auction sites and such to work on piece they could submit to the contest and still use in an auction.
My chief concern with this is that I'll encounter people using previously completed alters in the current contest. This would NOT be allowed and I would have to rely heavily on the honesty of the contestants to not do that. This is something I think I could easily invest lots of faith in.
So that's my suggestion, but as I'm the moderator here with Annorax, I am completely open to any ideas you all may have and I would REALLY like to get some input back on this.
Do you like my idea?
If no, why?
Should it stay bi-monthly?
Chime in and let me know my friends. I want to make the Artwork forums as enjoyable as possible and getting quality feedback from you nice ladies and gentlemen really goes a long way in being able to do that.
Thanks again!:)
Why thank you Warden. I'm glad you like it. I hope to have at least 10 entries for this contest and I believe I will. I myself may even give this one a go.
Just so everyone is aware, you don't HAVE to render a card of yourself. Just make sure that your work is easy to define what card you are. Good luck to all!:)
The spell must be affecting a single creature, although certain exceptions will be made for creatures that are a group, such a Killer Bees and Army Ants. Good question!
Just enchant creature enchantments is what I'm looking for. Again, another good question.:)
I agree and I hope everyone doesn't start putting Bone Splitters in the hands of random creatures and such. That will make me a sad panda...errr a sad polar. Yes, that's it. A sad polar and nobody really wants do that do they?:D

Actually I left out Equipment, but need to add it to the contest. Thanks for reminding me. lol
UPDATED THE CONTEST EVERYONE!
I want a new mp3 playing device. I've owned iPods and enjoyed them all. However, I think I may want to consider acquiring something that can do a little more than just play an mp3. I don't want a pocket or palm PC. A friend suggested I give Sony's PSP a chance. He also stated that there are many things you can do outside the given lines of "normal use" with a PSP. I'm not too familiar with Nintendo's DS Lite and I'm not even sure it can play mp3's.
I'm not a HUGE gamer. In fact, I seldom play games all that much. When it comes to games, I like the old school NES 8-bit platform and more 2D style games. Especially the Sega Geneisis and SNES era. I do LOVE music but not so much that I need more than 25 or 30 gigs of space.
So what say you fellow forum members? Any suggestions for me? Am I wanting too much in one device?

Welcome to the May Photoshop Contest! The theme this month is...
Be The Card!
Welcome to the May Photoshop Contest! This month you, the participant, will be taking on the task of digitally inputting YOURSELF into any Magic card of your choice! Here's your opportunity to be a Shivan Dragon, Royal Assassin, or even a Planeswalker. Maybe a spell is your type of thing? Implant yourself in a circle of evil clerics casting Hymn to Tourach. The choice is yours, but remember that the more creative you are the better your chnaces. I'm looking for something more than your face on a random mage's body. Good luck!

Welcome to the May Artwork Contest. The theme this month is:
It's All In The Spell
For the month of May, I would like for each participant to draw any sorcery, instant, equipment, or aura enchantment, affecting a single creature. For a prime example of this you can look at the Shock from Onslaught and see the Psychatog getting shocked. All entries must be new for this contest and you may not choose older works you've completed to enter. Good luck to all!
*thanks to Female_Kaldra_is_hot for the idea.

Welcome to the April Photoshop Contest voting thread. The theme last month was:
Mana Symbol Redux
Welcome to the April Photoshop Contest! This month you, the participant, will be acting as the roll of a designer for WotC. The mana symbols have gotten a bit old and tired. Wizards is looking to step their game up by recreating them for the prospect of new future frames. Only the MANA symbols are to be changed and nothing else. Get to cracking and good luck to all!

Welcome to the March Bi-Monthly Altered Art Contest voting thread. The theme for two months ago was:
Sci-Fi Alteration!
The theme for this go around is sci-fi! Do you have a favorite sci-fi flick? Maybe you're one with the force or a die hard trekkie. Whether it be Aliens, Predator, Luke Skywalker, or E.T., your goal for this month is to alter a card in such a fashion that you work in a small (or large) tribute to your favorite sci-fi flick or character. The original card must be easily recognizable and you must alter a real card without any digital means. Entries will be do by April 30th at 12:00 midnight EST. Good luck and I look forward to more entries this go around ladies and gentlemen.
