I'm actually getting back on the B/W tokens saddle myself. As soon as they spoiled Serra and Cabal Therapist, I started gathering the pieces to rebuild. Managed to play in last night's FNM and while I got thrashed (and got a little salty), I am looking forward to improving my deck and playing again.
This is what I ended up playing last night. I'm missing a Windswept and I traded all my Gideons away, so I ended up just tossing a Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord to test. Some people have been telling me it's better than Solem Visitor, but I have my doubts. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to change about the deck not only to modernize the list, but also what new cards I'm going to add. I'll go back and read opinions on older pages, but any recommendations you guys can offer me now would be very welcome.
Also with MTG Salvation going away, does BW tokens have a Discord server? I'd love to keep discussing cards and strategies with you guys.
I’ve been gathering cards up to build devotion ever since Gigantosaurus and Runic Armasaur was spoiled (I have a thing for dinosaurs. Glad they were good cards too!) Seeing it in a list makes me happy.
Hopefully I can finalize a list and start posting here soon. Deck looks like a lot of fun
I hate that I forgot about delve. I was already going to keep running Militant regardless I just needed some more points in case the argument arises again.
So I've been brewing and doing a little play-testing with Stompy again (I just have too much fun) and I've been thinking of taking it to some events. I'm curious about everyone's opinion about running Dryad Militant in the main? I know it's been found in basically everyone's list and I have been running 4 since I built the deck. But after testing with a storm player he keeps telling me that while Dryad is a good card he thinks it does best in the sideboard. It might be because he's salty about having to deal with it pre sideboarding, but it's got me thinking about the card. I like that it basically shuts down Snapcaster Mage and hinders storm, plus if played early enough it shrinks goyf and throws off delirium. But are there other uses that I'm over looking? I've been privy to keep it in because from my understanding we have a lot of control in our local meta.
How does Unravel the Aether/Deglamer interact with Welding Jar? Probably a stupid question, but I've never run into jar before. Plus I'm always on the look out for sideboard options.
Two mana 2/2 with trample and vigilance seems good. The kicker is very sketchy to me though.
Edit: This guys feels alot like Kessig Prowler in our deck. The kicker is nice if/when we need it, but it isn't wholly necessary. Like Prowler's transform ability. As much as I love Kavu, I don't think I'll run him in my deck. Still might be on the lookout for a foil though. Just to have.
So I'm only just now getting back to a place with reliable internet and am able to see things again, but how do you like Summoning Trap in your sideboard? I totally forgot that card even existed.
Tattermunge shouldn't even be on your radar. Why play a 2/1 with at least one drawback (more if your opponent happens to have red-hate) when you could play a 2/1 with marginal-upside-but-at-least-no-real-downside in Kessig Prowler? Though even without fetches, I like Narnam Renegade better. I'd even run Wasteland Viper sooner than Tattermunge.
I think I'll try Renegade. I was hesitant to throw him in since I'm not running fetches and I'd be wasting his potential if I didn't.
So I finally found my deck after a good room cleaning. Gonna dust it off and start testing it before I take it anywhere though. I did make some slight adjustments though. If anyone has any tips or pointers I'm all ears.
My sideboard is a bit of a mess at the moment. I figure I'd playtest around a bit and make changes along the way. And I'd like to get a second Rhonas to replace the Dungrove. I might end up trying out 2 Tattermunge Maniac to have a 9th and 10th one drop, but I'm not sure if I really should. Also trying out Pounce since I really don't like playing Dismember. I might be playing it wrong but I always end up screwing myself with that card.
Alright guys. I've had my eye on Slivers for a very long time now, in fact they are probably the main reason why I started playing Magic in the first place (them and Kavu oddly enough. I've been playing G/W Slivers in Pauper and am thinking of switching off of B/W Tokens and picking up Slivers in modern. I have most of the pieces minus the Caverns and Vials but I might just proxy the deck and see how things go. I had a few questions about some of the slivers though.
What exactly is the purpose of Cautery Sliver? I for the life of me don't understand.
Is it viable to run at least one Sliver Legion in the main? Or is he just a win-more card in Modern?
So long time fan of the deck here. I've been thinking of switching off of BW Tokens and Stompy to play the deck and I was wondering if cards like Woolly Thoctar or Savage Knuckleblade were worth a damn in the deck. I saw that they were in the primer and got a little excited because I played the mess out of them when they were standard legal and have since become some of my favorite cards.
Has anyone tried Settle the wreckage as a SB card? It seems good against any creature deck.
I haven't used it yet, but I have one in my SB. I like how it sounds on paper since more and more modern decks are running fewer basic lands (looking at you humans). But I'll have to actually use it to get a clear consensus.
Apologies for the double post, but I was curious what you guys thought of running Auriok Champion in the main deck? I do it and she's been very good now that cards like Death's Shadow and Fatal Push are popular. Obviously pulling her out of match ups that don't matter (like Merfolk).

I'd totally be down for a discord for us! That sounds like a pretty good idea
