    Maze of Ith

If a creature's damage were to be prevented with Maze but was not blocked would it still be a legal target for Ninjutsu? I would assume so because such because the creature does not get removed from combat and still considered an unblocked attacker.

The fact that Sharuum is my general in the deck I run Intuition in gives me some fun toolbox options.

If I want pure artifact-based utility I would usually fetch something along the lines of Ashnod's Altar, Nim Deathmantle, and either Duplicant, Solemn Simulacrum, or Phyrexian Metamorph which almost always sets me up for some kind of dumb infinite combo.

One of my favorite go-to picks mid(ish) game would be Sun Titan, Snapcaster Mage, Animate Dead. By then, graveyards tends to be full of goodies, and I can eventually dive deeper with Snapcaster Mage ~> Intuition.

And then there's the dumb stuff like Reveillark, Karmic Guide, Body Double.

  • posted a message on What is so exciting about Stax?
There's something I enjoy about forcing others to play at my pace rather than at their own. To some people, it's always about trying to get to the finish line. ramp ramp ramp draw draw draw cast cast cast. It has it's perks but it gets boring. Anybody could ramp to 10 mana and copy a Gilded Lotus by turn 4, but how many would copy Tangle Wire on turn 4? I find that "stalling" creates a bigger early advantage and a much more fair overall game in the long run than somebody rushing combos because they can prove a point that they can wreck an entire table over a set period of time. To me, longer games create much more interestesting and satisfying game scenarios where one wouldn't feel as bitter about getting knocked out. You have an entire deck to play with so stop trying to always win with the same 10.

The new Disciple of Bolas is bonkers if it's accurate. Undying makes it amazing, and of course there's the sac my Lord of Extinction to draw 30 and gain 30. I hope it's legit.

The only thing that makes me sad about it is the fact he's a 4 drop, so Sun Titan can't be best friends with him Frown

But he's amazing utility, he has 2 power, so Reveillark loves him, and 1 power, so clamp loves him too. Overall a really cool dude Smile

I'm not sure what I love more about this creature... The fact that he provides amazing utility when he comes into play, the fact that he has 2 power, making him one of Reveillark's best friends, or the fact that he has 1 toughness, making him one of skullclamp's best friends.. If only he was a CMC 3, so he would be Sun Titan's best friend too, but I guess he can be Dimir House Guard's best friend. That being said, he just sounds good in EDH already Grin

Kind of sad that Sundering Titan got hit... it was one of the best ways for me to get rid of problematic lands like Gaea's Cradle (This is with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play mind you). Now that he's gone, who else is going to fill this empty slot in my void heart.. *skitters off to find decent alternatives*

Avenger has always been an incredible beater in my Wort Deck. It can easily win the game by itself if left unchecked, or what I prefer to do is if I want a player dead, I'll probably Tooth and Nail up Avenger and Thermopod to generate just enough mana to Banefire some poor souls' existence to ashes.

  • posted a message on Running Niv-Mizzet compared to Nin?
I liked playing niv as a kind of "teaching" deck, to force people to be aware of threat assessment. Who's more likely to kill the table on the spot, the one with the Niv in play, or the one with the Blightsteel in play? Decks like Niv can win out of nowhere with ease if left unchecked. Blightsteel tends to kill players on the spot, but Niv? He just deals 1 everytime the player draws. Not like the Niv player cares about Blightsteel, he plays blue.

That being said, when the Niv player has Thought Reflection and Mindmoil out, the game is pretty much with the Niv player laughing... top, mindmoil triggers, use top to draw a card, cast something, mindmoil triggers, play top and repeat....Then Time Spiral. Mindmoil triggers, then shuffle my stuff back in and start from the top. Rinse, repeat again... I prefer that to Mind Over Matter tricks or any infinite combo... It's... different..

That being said, I don't have a great history playing with or against Nin, but the feedback I have received from her makes it sound like she's interesting if you can pull it of, but I've never been a huge fan. I tend to like painting giant targets on my head...

The fact that you CAN look up prices in the present to know what the current price of cards are currently is huge. Card prices are always swaying, and it's good to be up to date on them. In order to maintain the equality for all involved parties, an unbiased third party SHOULD be used if available (and today, it almost always is). I personally use TCG for 90% of my trades, and I don't mind if others use other sites. If I'm checking prices for both sides with my prices, and he's checking both sides with his prices, an agreement should be able to take place anyways. I personally use SCG for foil prices for ballpark estimates. Most of the trades I'm involved in will usually be satisfying for both sides, and that's mostly because of up to date databases. I hate the feeling of being involved in an unfair trade, and I try to make sure others don't feel that way either.

  • posted a message on Combos are too good. Do other decks have a chance?
I feel like a dedicated combo deck is somewhat similar to a glass cannon.. A glass cannon made of tempered glass. If you get rid of the things that allows the deck to win efficiently, you effectively get rid of the deck altogether. Stuff like Jester's Cap and Sadistic Sacrament would be able to do the trick quickly, or being able to read the threats on the board and getting rid of that. An example would be a Sharuum deck. Tormod's Crypt would stop the interaction between Sharuum and Sculpting Steel, or you can Sadistic Sacrament their Bitter Ordeal, Disciple of the Vault, and whatever else looks painful. Unless you go in with enough force, you generally won't be able to beat the deck head on unless you know the tricks already ahead of time.

    And that's my little analogy...

I notice that you don't really have a counterspell suite in your Intet list. Possibly adding some control is good, even if it's just something like a Cryptic Command to counter the Karrthus, or if anything, to tap down the creatures if for some odd reason Karrthus slips by (maybe through an uncounterable reaniamtion spell or something).

  • posted a message on Is Deadeye Navigator the best ETB engine?
He's one of those creatures I want to try in my Sharuum EDH deck, because of the sheer amount of abuse it could be. 75% of all the creatures in the deck will be able to benefit from it very easily. He's not THAT hard to drop into play, and the insanity that will ensue is just something I won't be able to resist. Copying clone type creatures? Sundering Titan up to 10 lands for 2 mana? That just sounds fun...

  • posted a message on Looking back, I would rather have had Denying Channel instead of Snapcaster Mage.
I personally love Snapcaster as a card because of the tricks you can do with it as opposed to the usual Snapcaster, flash back counterspell. What can I do with Denying Channel? Well like it's already been stated, it's really hard to counter. It wouldn't be as OP as Snapcaster, and it forces players to decide if they really want to use it for their land drop. Personally, I would try to make it work in Modern with Crucible of Worlds and Trade Route engine, but I'm definitely not the only one who would want to try that now am I? Snapcaster is probably overly good right now, but I don't think Denying Channel would have ever made a serious mark on most formats.

I like the idea of just cloning Karrthus to steal all of his dragons (including yours), and kills off Karrthus, but you better have a strong follow up, otherwise the Karrthus just comes back :/
