Perfect example how wizards created a monopoly with their product. "You think you have the right to hold a mega pre-release and bring hundreds of people together? THINK AGAIN".

I only went to the big pre-releases. I can say this effectively makes me want to quit magic. My local store only has 10-16yr olds play.

Neat. Great addition to my reanimator deck. Shuts down RDW/weenie decks all by itself.

Please let there be something interesting. Phyrexia has awesome and unique card art. Mirran is the same as all magic art: various knights or monks as various animals.

There's a reason why empire strikes back was better than a new hope. If phyrexia wins we can have a more epic battle down the road, along with some really awesome and unique artwork. if mirrans win, it will be another bland set in the magic multiverse. Where's my yawgmoth planeswalker card?

    * Just let the badguys win for once. I dont like seeing set after set some epic "good guys do something to win at the last second". It's boring...

  • posted a message on Lopsided Trades You've Made?
I have the story to beat all of your stories.

Back when I was in high school I saw some freshmen playing magic the gathering. I joined them, and saw they had a trade binder. I pulled mine out, and let him look through it. I saw he had a black bordered birds of paradise. Back then these were worth 20$ and traded very quickly. He pulled out a tsunami I accidentally put in there and said, "Destroy ALL islands? I'll trade you that for this!".

Worth wise, probably the most lopsided trade I've ever made. I ended up selling the birds for 20$ cash that night. I learned later it was his brothers card who played every weekend at a local store for fnm prizes.

Before I get 100 angry messages from you people, he's been my best friend for well over a decade.

I decided to open some of them packs, and I think I'm going to just open them all. I don't think they are random however, because so far I've opened 100 packs, and I now have 6 tezzeret's, one of which is foil, and 11 Darksteel Collossus. I only opened one contested warzone. That's fantastic for me, because aren't tezzeret's the most expensive card in the set? Also, aren't orange mythic rare cards more rare to find then regular rare cards? I mean, I opened 13 black sun's zenith, and only two white sun's zenith.

Also, one of you said I can sell stuff on this site? Is there a fee associated with selling here? Do need a certain number of posts? Do people even buy cards off of this site? I would love to avoid ebay since they take 10-15% of your sales in fees.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the responses. I am going to open the rest of the packs, so I will not sell them to anyone.

I don't want credit. I want cash. I don't think the store is going to buy back the packs they gave me... are these packs worth more or something?

Rare mapped from a box? These cards are bound in packs of 5 or 4 with that plastic wrap. I think they are from those smaller box cards. Not those booster boxes. Does that make a difference?

*** Now that I look at them, most of them are either bundled in 5 packs with a 20 sided die, or 4 with a big pack of land.

2$ each? That's only 1/2 the price of a regular pack and seems like a terrible deal. I was hoping to get at least 3$ per pack.

I can wait a week or two by opening all the packs tomorrow and putting them in sets, if it means I will be making nearly double as much as if I were to sell the packs for 2$ each.

I have no idea what to do with these. I won 10 boxes worth of Mirrodin Besieged packs in a drawing. It was at some event my friend dragged me to. The problem is.... I really don't play Magic the Gathering. I mean, it felt a little like Christmas at first, however I already have a full set of Mirrodin Besieged, and I just want to get rid of these packs. I looked up selling them to online stores, but I don't think people will accept them. Here's a few things

1- They are BOOSTERS and not SEALED BOXES, (they were in a big plastic container or something for everyone to see). Which stinks, because I know you can sell the sealed boxes on ebay for cash.

2- My wife is getting annoyed that there's a huge box of booster packs in my living room.

I don't know what to do with them. I don't want to open them if I can sell them. However, I looked on ebay and they sell for under 2$ a pack if your not an ebay store. I'm guessing it's because 90% of those packs were "repacks", aka people trying to rip of kids by pulling out all of the expensive rares, and putting in those crappy .25$ rares. Should I just open all of these packs and try selling the sets on ebay or to stores? I think I can make more money doing that, however if I could just get rid of all these stupid packs at once, I'd be happy.

I'm guessing some stores post here on this forum. If you could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it. I'm willing to open the packs and sell the cards, but only if I can get rid of most/all of them. My wife is going to kill me if I have a bunch of boxes of commons sitting around.

    * I just re-read this post, and it sounds like I'm really angry at this. I'm sorry. I just had a fight with my wife about the packs. They've turned out to be more of a curse than a blessing.

  • posted a message on Overpowered creatures with high casting cost are STILL overpowered
Expensive creatures are fun, because they can be used in lots of different decks. Power creep on the other hand has steered the game WAY TOO FAR to generic aggro decks. Not to mention the nerfing of creature kill, (remember when wrath of god was standard?).

I'd rant more about the general lack of good creature kill compared to older magic. Anyone remember nevinyarral's disk?

Even when it was legal 3cc ld spells really wern't used. Ponza decks which packed 3 stone rain and 3 pillage never really broke the format. The only time they were a problem was when tangle wire was legal.

    there's a problem with standard?

Looks like most people are complaining about the lack of an overpowered aggro deck which dominates, (coughbloodbraidcough).
