I like the article, keep it up.
I really hope next article is not about pokemon, though...

Feb 16, 2012Tom posted a message on Entry #5 - Other People's Decks, pt. 1: You Bantstard!i'm not so sure about crusader. i personally like giest and kotr better, and they already take up a bunch of 3-mana slots. not to mention the swords and cliques (which i like better than crusader as well).Posted in: Rocko's Modern Blog
could be wrong, but it seems like it could make the mana curve rather awkward.
just my thoughts. when is the next blog entry coming? -
Feb 6, 2012Tom posted a message on Entry #5 - Other People's Decks, pt. 1: You Bantstard!i love this article, and the list. looking forward to something on GW jumanji, or a thread link.Posted in: Rocko's Modern Blog
as for the list... really liking it. though i would make these changes:
-1 geist
+1 kotr
(kotr is generally better, especially as you have no goyf, and 3/3 splits are very strange in general)
-1 land
+1 sejiri steppe
(even in legacy one of the most awesome things to do with kotr, it offers instant speed protection)
-2 rafiq
-1 sword
+1 pridemage
+1 gaddock
+1 something
(3 swords seems like a lot, and i never was a fan of rafiq, but i could be wrong about him not being so great)
seems good elsewhere, though only running 7 counters and no filtering makes the blue seem rather underpowered and clunky.
keep up the good work! -

[*cards] [*/cards]
[*card] [*/card]
that is how to use the tags as you were wondering. place the left on on the left side of your card/cards, then the right one on the right. remove the * for your posts.
also, whenever you make a post, see where the bold, italic, underline, color, etc. buttons are? if you go to the right, there is something that looks like the back of a card. that one and the two tho the right of it are a shortcut for doing the above.
sorry it's a little off topic, but i hope i helped! -

and yes, i agree with what you are saying. in that circumstance, i'd say the extra value of another toolbox card outweighs the small percentage. especially if the toolbox is a green sun's zenith toolbox. you technically have more than 4 zeniths in a deck, as they keep coming back.
however, this isn't always true. maybe you need to draw lightning bolt as much as possible (in which case then the 0.01% does matter). then you would have to reevaluate whether it is a good idea or not. -

my suggested place to have our group would be on mtgsalvation. if you go to outside magic > clans > playtesting groups, then we could make a thread for our playtesting group. i don't have facebook and skype and the like. -

who is going to help? sounds like a lot of work for a deck that doesn't seem at all constructed playable (imo, but then again i'm not hugely into T2). the deck seems like if it has it's lord then it's amazing; if not then it's just meh. -
Nov 7, 2011Tom posted a message on Food for Thought: Is 60 Cards Always Optimal?yah, eclipse. if you have a 4-of in a deck, you decrease the chance of drawing one by only 0.1%Posted in: Tom's Blog... Enjoy!
however, if you have less than 4-of a card in a deck, like one or two, the chance of not drawing one is decreased and the 61 cards becomes more relevant. but really, if you run less than 4 of that card in a deck, you obviously don't want that card too often in the first place. -

Nov 6, 2011Tom posted a message on Food for Thought: Is 60 Cards Always Optimal?but why? seems like jumping to conclusions by just standing by what you have ever known. i'm well aware that it increases your chances of drawing certain cards, and i mostly run 60-card decks myself.Posted in: Tom's Blog... Enjoy!
but if you look at the mathmatics of it, it really does only decrease the chances you draw any particular card that you have 4-of in a deck by 0.1%. using 61 cards you can twist other percentages to your advantage, and if you are smart about it the pros can outweigh the cons. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
To be honest, I think I play exactly the same as scum and town.
It leads to me playing quite good as scum, and pretty poor as a townie (not always, but probably on average).
I think I'd rather it be the other way around, as it would improve my win rate, but I guess I can still take pride in my deceptive skills.
What happened to you Megs? Fallout from the car hit? I hope you're doing okay.
I don't know when I'll play again, but I probably will someday. Maybe soon as I'm hyped about this win.
Seems as though the MTGS community is slowly dying though. If we want to preserve it, we need to start encouraging people both online and IRL to come try out a game here on MTGS. Or make an organized effort to join with another community.
GG
That's L-0, I think. Cool.
Rhand if you get here before the mod, spare us the trouble and state your alignment
Well this is out of left field.
Weren't you the guy who said you couldn't understand the Rhand wagon and that my reasoning about him being scum was bad? And the guy who said I was worlds apart the scummiest player in the game?
Because now it reads like you're saying Rhand is scummy, and scummier than you think I am, and hoping on the wagon pretty much built with my reasoning.
If we lynch Rhand (likely) and he's not scum you have some explaining to do
I concur that just lynching in general should be our #1 priority with the clock ticking down.
Join back on Rhand wagon. Don't know what people are talking about the reasoning being bad, just ISO Rhand. Look at his 2nd and 3rd posts. Bad vote on Hunt, followed by a bad vote on you (Tomsloger for anyone else reading the reiteration of my reasoning). These posts could be excusable as poking around at the beginning of the game, but then his 5th post confirms that he's serious about them. His 6th post is hopping back on the Hunt wagon after I gave that wagon a big push, and he says he wants to lynch. Then Hunt shows up, and I ask why Rhand isn't moving his vote like I did. Rhand gives in easily and implies that he might move his vote soon. Then his latest post he does just that, voting Tomsloger once more with little explanation.
Now that I've looked it over again I'm even happier about my vote.
You clearly voted for D_V then later you attempt to do a vote count and show your vote still on Rhand... Are you not aware of where your votes at?
If you were serious about D_V, I'd expect it to be reflected in that vote count
I was referring to the second line I wrote in post 104.
But hold the phone, complete 180, tomsloger is almost certainly town after all. Unvote
Sloger has been a mediocre contributor all game, until now. Post 110 was fantastic (I didn't even catch that myself), and basically everything since has been pretty good.
I see a townie getting more concerned and involved as the game end draws nearer. I'd expect scum to do basically the opposite, and post less near the end unless it were to defend themselves from a lynch.
Vote: Rhand
Lets lynch him, so that in the case that he flips town we actually have time to reassess.
Elaborate on what is weak in my reasoning for Rhand or anyone else.
Yes I've moved my vote several times recently. Methodically.
I said I think tomsloger is more scummy now (because of his behavior on Rhand wagon), then voted him. Where are you getting anything contrary from?
I am fishing for a lynch. On one of those three specific people (two, realistically). ASAP, because like I said I won't be able to post on the last day of the game.
tomsloger calls Cythare and me out for "not having great reasoning" for voting Rhand then proceeds to announce he has no good reasons himself.
Completely happy with tomsloger lynch. Even moreso than Rhand. Vote: Sloger
I'm at least 85% confident the scum is within those two or Megiddo.
---
I get up early on Saturday and then get off work at the same time the game ends. I likely won't be able to post that day, the 19th. Meaning I only have today and tomorrow to post. I'm a strong advocate of lynching someone today so I actually have time to accuse someone.
This is ridiculous. You just described what town behavior should be in a game like this.
Indeed. He strikes me as flippant town more than scum in the two posts to his name. He's gotta post more but that's all I have against him.
Glad my vote got Hunt to do something, but I can't see him as scum, despite him thinking I'm "worlds apart the scummiest in the game for actually trying".
Assuming a no-go on Megs I'm interested in lynching Rhand or tomsloger.
tomsloger because post 34 stinks, and an ISO reveals that it is surprisingly his only real contribution to the game.
Rhand because his ISO reveals bad reasoning for pretty much everything. His first two votes are just easy gimmie votes that in reality stink, he then proceeds to leave his options open even with Cythare (who he hasn't mentioned except for being one of his 3 suspects), then hops on Hunt wagon to L-1 with the intention of lynching, followed by no unvote after Hunt finally gives thoughts. Vote: Rhand
Ima need you to back up that cythare sscumread. So far all I see is you voting him for reasons that are hypocritical.
There are less than 3 days left and he's done nothing despite showing up to make posts. I don't know if that's his M.O., but I ignore meta anyway on principle.
Megs is worse and my first choice of a lynch, but I can see that it won't happen as of now.
It's ironic that you'd vote Cythare for disliking both you and Rhand. It means you yourself dislike both Cythare and Rhand, which is essentially the same situation, no?
This sums up your gameplay. Vote: Huntzilla
Cythare and D_V strike me as town.
Have you read Megs' posts?
