    I thought of the concept of Phyrexian Mana around original Mirrodin block. Though, I was a huge DnD nerd, so I thought it could be a M:tG version of Psionics.

    For the ultimate would you say something like, "-14: You get an emblem with 'Permanents enter the battlefield under your control.'" be better? Still probably wins you the game at that point, but doesn't just say, "Hey, pal, you win the game."


    Also, the other Mythic I'm having trouble with in the last set in the block:
    Call Across the Planes X
    Sorcery (M)
    Call Across the Planes is all colors (even if this card isn’t in play).

    Spend only colored mana on X.

    Search your library for a planeswalker card with converted mana cost X or less and reveal that card. Shuffle your library, then put the card on top of it.


    -Would people play with this card (keep in mind this is a nod more to Legacy)
    -Is the mana cost right? 5 mana to go fetch a Jace, 4 mana to go fetch a Liliana, etc.

    Yeah. I'm working on a custom block (yes, an entire block) for a contest.

    I won't go into a long explanation of the story/events/timeline, but one of the Mythics from the last set in the block is an Urza planeswalker card.
    Yep. I know.
    It's been done to death, but I'm seriously trying to make something good (because !@#$ing URZA), but not another hot mess like JtMS.

    This is what I have so far:
    Urza, Reborn
    4UUU cc; 5 starting loyalty
    Planeswalker - Urza
    +3: Put a 3/3 blue artifact Metathran creature token with “0: This creature gets -1/-1 and gains your choice of flying or first strike until end of turn” onto the battlefield.
    (A nod to Urza's Avenger.)
    -4: Take an extra turn after this one.
    (Good, but still a 7-mana time walk for standard.)
    For the ultimate, I'm stuck on either
    a.) -15: At the beginning of your next untap step, you win the game; or,
    b.) -14: You gain control of all permanents on the battlefield. Untap those permanents and they gain haste until end of turn. At the beginning of your next end step, you lose the game.

    My ponderings:
    1. I have a suspicion that either of those ultimates may be too good.
    2. Would the +3 be more balanced at +2 or +4?

    Definitely looking for feedback here.
    Something to keep in mind: a large percentage of placing in the contest is based on the likelihood of your block seeing print. (i.e. Not being too broken for Standard play, not adding 100 cards to the Modern banned list, etc. Legacy and Vintage formats don't play too heavily into the equation.)
