    Mounted archer.

Assuming no "ninja darkness" or naruto jutsu, there is no way someone on foot with a chain could beat someone on horseback with a bow.

Challenge mode, armored horse and rider. Horse is a warhorse. Will tear through any kind of chain to trip it. If rider has generally solid armor, only a stabbing can kill her and in limited areas. Getting to those areas would be difficult assuming she is raining down arrows while running away or chasing.

That's a really bad idea... Lawyers? Bussiness(wo)men? Ever heard of Big Brother is watching you?

I do wonder however how justified these statements are. Is there any proof?

Lawyers, etc. aren't known for killing random people. Police use of force is incredibly high and cameras provide a way to styme that.

    Proof of camera effectiveness:
"But Rialto's [a test city for camera use on cops] randomised controlled study has seized attention because it offers scientific – and encouraging – findings: after cameras were introduced in February 2012, public complaints against officers plunged 88% compared with the previous 12 months. Officers' use of force fell by 60%."
    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/04/california-police-body-cameras-cuts-violence-complaints-rialto

One of the state's compelling interests is keeping public faith in the police high. Weighing their individual privacy while on the job against that seems like a stretch.

NYPD are in hot water for targeting minorities with a stop and frisk policy.
LAPD are notorious. If I remember correctly, Dorner struck out because of the rampant corruption. More corruption charges have come forward. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/26/lapd-termination-cases-chris-dorner_n_2769680.html)

I can't tell about NYPD corruption, but as OP also says incompetence, I think OP may be refering to NYPD's racist stop and frisk policy.

Personally, I believe that all cops should have cameras on them at all times. The public needs to trust the police more these days. Adding cameras has shown to lower cops from abusing their power. (Cameras are currently being tested per order of a federal judge in NY in response to their stop and frisk tactic.)

    That comic doesn't make sense.

What about asians or irish? They were treated horrifically in the early history of the united states.

    What's the difference?

Interesting that they went after the Catholic Conference of Bishops.

I think its a huge stretch to pull them into this, so my initial guess is that the court will just throw it out. I doubt that will happen. Presumably, the ACLU has been waiting for a case like this, so they have some plan. Should be interesting. (Im running on 0 sleep and just took a health law exam, but reminds me of piercing the corporate veil somehow...)

I just listened to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History - Wrath of Khan. It was about the great Genghis Khan and his successors.

One of the things that Carlin punched home ran was the absolute slaughter which the Mongols inflicted upon the world. (Related, http://www.livescience.com/11739-wars-plagues-carbon-climate.html, Mongols caused a drop in CO2 because they killed so many people.) For the people living during this time it was absolute hell.

But, through conquest the Mongols were able to establish trade routes, improve science and technology, etc. (aaand wipe Islam's intellectual hub from the map...) The cost for these advancements were huge. Millions were massacred, burned, and raped.

Carlin laying the absolute atrocities that the Mongols inflicted made me pull back from the "Oh the medieval times were bright and cherry" point of view. There were great times during the medieval ages, and there were times of absolute hell.

I would say that it is all relative. During the last one hundred years we have had our fair share of insanely barbaric wars and atrocities. The only real difference is that the fighting back then was man to man.

In huge battles where tens of thousands could be killed by slashing and bashing people to death, people of the medieval times thought this as just normal warfare. We find the level of one on one slaughter as almost unthinkable. (Whether there is a real difference between this and guns/explosives, I'd say is relative...)

Also any kind of notion that the medieval era was the Dark Ages where technological advances screamed to a halt is just a loose with history as the fall of the Roman empire.

    Played two All4One last night.

WW v. Fiddle - We were WW and just ran around doing whatever we wanted. Massive MR made the game a bit of a farce. Also first time ive played WW in forever. Surprised how far his ult goes.

Heimer v. Eve - The donger's nest prevailed. We pushed hard and would just set up camp. Eves had to divebomb us. Pretty back and forth game in terms of kills, but Heimer just pushed her to death.

All for One is the greatest thing ever.

Got crushed as Nid. Had fun as Ashe.

Looking forward to trying Shaco/Annie/Morde... I love this mode and hate that it is near exam time.

The game looks much better. The only and honestly glaring issue is what bLatch said... the economy in its current form doesn't exist. I hope that something is done, and currently I think something will be done. No idea what, but I feel like these guys have a better handle on the game than JWilson ever did.

    Depends on their finances.

PS4 if they have a good bit of money and are looking for new/cool games.

PS3 if they have a bit less. Can get some great games such as Skyrim, GTA4, etc. for cheap.

  • posted a message on When does a life become something our laws can protect?
(Kind of skipping the abortion thing...)

What about the fact scenario from this case? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_re_A.C.

Woman is terminally ill with cancer and does not much longer on this world. Woman is pregnant. Fetus is medically viable.

Woman is right on death's door. She does not give consent for the cesarean to take place.

However, the cesarean takes place without her consent. The baby dies in two hours. She dies two days later.

When she went in for the operation the likelihood that the baby would live was ~50/50.
Would it matter if the likelihood that the baby would live would be 100% when the operation took place? Should the state move in to save the child?

    Quote from AsianInvasion
Apparently, my favorite builds are going the way of the dodo as soon as the expansion out. I also primarily played for the social aspect, and now that none of my RL friends play, I've been spending my free time doing other things. I'll probably check out the expansion when it comes out, but I have very little interest in the game ATM.

Try Path of Exile. It's an amazing free game. Much closer to D2 than D3 ever was.

Those builds were great, but they were too strong. Infinite CC from Wiz and Infinite Resources and effectively health from Barbs was just too good. Blizz had to act to make their new content non-trivial.

Also looks like no LS in the expansion pack. Going to be interesting...
